Thank you for a very good review. I was impressed by the specs that I had read on this camera, but when I looked at the sample video on Nikon's own website, I became disillusioned because I thought the video clip was lousy! But when I saw your video clip, I became reassured that this might be an OK camera. Thanks.
Hey man, what type of SD card do I need? I plan on buying a card from Walmart for this camera but I wasn't sure which one I would need. Can you let me know ASAP? Thanks!!
I just got this camera, took some landscape shots in the mountains near here and they came out fantastic. Great wide angle and zoom shots. Clear, detailed images. Highly recommended!
Can it shoot video for longer than 30 seconds? I just got mine and don't know much of anything about cameras but was under the impression that it wasn't limited to 30 seconds.
Wich rechargeable batteries are the best for this camera? the duracell rechargeable 2300mA or the Eneloop 3rd gen, that has 1900 mA? the manual says that they need to be NiHM with 2000 mA at least to use them in Coolpix (NiHM) setting. Can you help me and explaint it?
I have two of these cameras and I use the energizer rechargeable batteries. I set the battery usage to nimh and haven't seen the "battery exhausted" sign since
I am confuse with these three cameras 1. Nikon Coolpix L820 Advance Point and shoot 2. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H200 Point & Shoot 3. Fujifilm S4500 Point & Shoot Can u tell me his is best? I am not a professional photographer same time I go out and click some pic.
I have just purchased one of these cameras and have to adjust to it vs my older Canon Power Chot Elf300HS camera. For my own uses, this should be a very good camera, but learning the trickiness of the various buttons is not quite as easy as one would wish. I have not seen if the NIHM rechargeable batteries are able to be used, but I'm still trying to find something in review or How To that is a bit better than the supplied CD or user manual, so I have not finished, yet. So far, I see this camera as one for the beginner who wants a more professional look than the standard point and shoot camera usually gives and the feel of something more professional looking than most point and shoot cameras. For many uses, the Easy Button is a plus, much like the GoPro cameras use.
hey what camera would u recommend for crisp smooth video that is around $400? image stabilization and shooting in low light are the most important things to me.
ive had a flpicam, a kodak play sport, a panisonic HC-V10, but out of all of those i think the nikon l820 is the best camera for movie making, pictures, and audio. plus it has a nice feel to it. very gripable
Dude DSLR is a learning commitment...plus an expensive investment...These (Zoom) type of cameras give the most bang for the average person's buck...Its really up to you...
Hi, I have the NikonL820, can you possibly help me with the recording feature? When I press the red recording button, it only lets me record for 10 seconds and when I play it back, the video is really slow motion. Do I need to adjust some settings, or what? I'm a real newbie on tech stuff so if anyone could help me out that would be great! Thank you.
I bought this camera, the pictures are vivid and sharp and the zoom is great. However whenever I try to record the video starts flashing purple. It varies from only a bit of the screen to sometimes the whole of it. Any help?
That is odd! It may be a malfunction I have used the L820 for at-least 4 years now and have never had that happen. You should contact Nikon about that. Hope you get the problem fixed.
can this be used for taking good shots of pictures of someone playing sport on a football field. will this zoom in enough and will it be in good quality?
hi i have a quarry for this camera, that does any body used this camera with AC adapter directly without batteries. i want to purchase a AC adapter for video suite with Nikon l820.
Hi thank you for your video . I have the same camera yes batteries (forget it) I go thru to many. Also please tell me how I can take a picture or when I take a pic does it get saved on my memory card. Also it tell me my card can't be read. Even do I hit the slide up and down slider on my memory card adapter.
Just bought mine for my RUclips channel! Very much looking forward to upgrading from my cheap camcorder I already have! Does this camera have an audio jack input? (3.5mm)? It doesn't really matter but I'd like to know if it does still.
For other Amazon/black friday lovers.. Is this camera going to be gone by tomorrow? I can't afford any thing till the first of december but I'm worried it will be gone. There are 19 left and the price is dropping.. Is it to late??
I have one of these and it is easy to use. People respond well to the photos on social media. I am about to try using it for more video. A purchase of a camera should depend on its end use. This is fine for me.
Agreed with the experience being the bigger factor. I have had a number of cameras over the past 5 years and I have taken good pictures and bad ones but even with a weak resolution and lens someone can take a good photo of a subject like I had done a number of times with an old cell phone camera with the subject typically being a new car back in the summer of 2008. I had a steady hand, a good angle, and good sunny conditions. My point is experience is the major factor but conditions help too. :)
Hi, gr8 video!!!...i actually shoot on the go and frequently run out of battery power...the provision for using AA batteries in this cam compels me to buy it...can u please suggest any other cameras which r better than this and can be used with AA batteries!!
So my digital camera hit the dust this weekend and I need a camera that takes AMAZING pictures no matter what the lighting conditions are and where I am. Would this camera be able to suit my needs?? I would also like to know what anyone does not like about this camera. Thanx
I love the Nikon L820. The only thing I have found is that the playback once transferred onto my PC, the sound will stop at about 13 sec. The beginning is great. Something I'm doing? I don't know. Someone help me out. Thanks.
Najmanja i am from serbia and was considering of buying this camera but a cheaper option is the coolpix p 520 a good dslr that is about 300 e is the d3100 or the d3000
A friend of mine who's really into photography told me that Nikon and Canon cameras are the best you can get. She told me that Sony cameras often fail a lot and that they're really ba quality. That she knows from experience, she had one and lasted her about a month.
For a Point and shoot this is an amazing cam....and I do agree to most of your points...except for the last one..It is attached with a 70-150 mm lens i believe ...which is not a wide angle lens..any thing less than 35 mm is wide angle...but for a PNS this seems to be a good one..
Its ok. But when you are zooming in, it tends to move in and out of focus if you zoom in closer to the highest end of the zoom. What I do is press it down or go on zoom in mode when im recording to make it clearer. After a while the focus got better for me with the close up mode. But thats just me.

Can it shoot video for longer than 30 seconds? I just got mine and don't know much of anything about cameras but was under the impression that it wasn't limited to 30 seconds.

Would be good, but you don't really need a camera with that crazy of a zoom for RUclips videos
When you say the picture quality isn't the greatest , do you think thats because the image sensor isn't big enough ?.
Going on an Alaskan Cruise, just got this camera, hoping it will work well for landscape and good HD shots...
