Thank you for a very good review. I was impressed by the specs that I had read on this camera, but when I looked at the sample video on Nikon's own website, I became disillusioned because I thought the video clip was lousy! But when I saw your video clip, I became reassured that this might be an OK camera. Thanks.
oh man that zoom in the vid you took is awesome! you've helped me make up my mind.. im buying this!
The rechargeable NIMH batteries work perfectly great camera could a bit more versatile, also It's quick smooth
i have this camera and i absolutely love this & recommend it!
I have one of these and it is easy to use. People respond well to the photos on social media. I am about to try using it for more video. A purchase of a camera should depend on its end use. This is fine for me.
I have just purchased one of these cameras and have to adjust to it vs my older Canon Power Chot Elf300HS camera. For my own uses, this should be a very good camera, but learning the trickiness of the various buttons is not quite as easy as one would wish. I have not seen if the NIHM rechargeable batteries are able to be used, but I'm still trying to find something in review or How To that is a bit better than the supplied CD or user manual, so I have not finished, yet.
So far, I see this camera as one for the beginner who wants a more professional look than the standard point and shoot camera usually gives and the feel of something more professional looking than most point and shoot cameras. For many uses, the Easy Button is a plus, much like the GoPro cameras use.
I just got this camera, took some landscape shots in the mountains near here and they came out fantastic. Great wide angle and zoom shots. Clear, detailed images. Highly recommended!
ya ill agree that the zoom capabilities were quite good. great stabilization! You should grab the L820 imo!
Yes, you can plug it in and download the pictures directly from your camera to pc.
Dude DSLR is a learning commitment...plus an expensive investment...These (Zoom) type of cameras give the most bang for the average person's buck...Its really up to you...
ive had a flpicam, a kodak play sport, a panisonic HC-V10, but out of all of those i think the nikon l820 is the best camera for movie making, pictures, and audio. plus it has a nice feel to it. very gripable
Agreed with the experience being the bigger factor. I have had a number of cameras over the past 5 years and I have taken good pictures and bad ones but even with a weak resolution and lens someone can take a good photo of a subject like I had done a number of times with an old cell phone camera with the subject typically being a new car back in the summer of 2008. I had a steady hand, a good angle, and good sunny conditions. My point is experience is the major factor but conditions help too. :)
In the video modes, there's a 1080★/30p and a plain 1080/30p. What's the difference between the two?
how can i upload pictures to instagram from the camera?
Going on an Alaskan Cruise, just got this camera, hoping it will work well for landscape and good HD shots...
Would be good, but you don't really need a camera with that crazy of a zoom for RUclips videos
For a Point and shoot this is an amazing cam....and I do agree to most of your points...except for the last one..It is attached with a 70-150 mm lens i believe ...which is not a wide angle lens..any thing less than 35 mm is wide angle...but for a PNS this seems to be a good one..
I like the Mic on the camera, For outside it doesn't catch a ton of wind.
A friend of mine who's really into photography told me that Nikon and Canon cameras are the best you can get. She told me that Sony cameras often fail a lot and that they're really ba quality. That she knows from experience, she had one and lasted her about a month.
If I would really have to chose the best point and shoot camera for "lower" light scene vid shooting, I would say Sony HX300 has usable quality for pics at around 900 ISO (the 12800ISO is a show off number there... the chip can't handle the image over around. It will be pretty crappy.) But for vids, it uses different settings... The canon SX50 makes still ok pics @700 ISO. BUT!
I have the L830. And let me just say..these items are not that different. Although the 830 has a flip screen. They are both amazing. Close up is the specialty here
I BOUGHT THIS SUPER ZOOM CAMERA JUST NOW ! ITS AWESOME AND JUST SUPER COOL !
Wich rechargeable batteries are the best for this camera? the duracell rechargeable 2300mA or the Eneloop 3rd gen, that has 1900 mA? the manual says that they need to be NiHM with 2000 mA at least to use them in Coolpix (NiHM) setting. Can you help me and explaint it?
I have two of these cameras and I use the energizer rechargeable batteries. I set the battery usage to nimh and haven't seen the "battery exhausted" sign since
sony has been making some great cameras lately. I have a Sony NEX myself, and I love it!
On ebay they go for as low as $200 but I bought mine at BestBuy(instore) for $148(withtaxes) the sale ended today. Original price was $280 so like $298.. I love how beautiful it takes picture and records.
I was a cheap skata and purchased a refurbished camera for half price and today she runs fine. I believe I have gotten my moneys worth and more out of it.
I love this camera
Ya, Ive used the L810, not much of a upgrade... def not worth it if you own it already
NIHM rechargeable batteries would be key.
Great review
You can get this camera on holiday sale now on www.dslrcam.net/shop/nikonL820 for anyone looking for this.
Zoom is great on this
Also the stabilization that sony offers and the stereo mic that nikon has!
can i fix external lenses to this camera, can i shoot short films with this one?
I am looking to record good hd RUclips videos for my channel is it a good camera for that please reply
Nice review, thank you. I am looking at purchasing a camera, I am considering getting Nikon Coolpix P600, suggestions?
I found the answer to my question. You just need a larger card. I use a 16 gig SD card capable of taking HD video. With it I can take like 40 minutes of 1080p.
Your review was very helpful. I'm thinking of buying this camera... but i'm really divided between this one and Coolpix P520. Anyways... thanks!
How can I buy batteries for this camera? Is it available online?
Supposedly in the description I read on the l820, it has noise reduction while lens shifting.
Thank you for your reply! I saw the Canon sx40 hs on sale for $199 and ended up buying that. I hope it was a good buy compared to these
I am confuse with these three cameras
1. Nikon Coolpix L820 Advance Point and shoot
2. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H200 Point & Shoot
3. Fujifilm S4500 Point & Shoot
Can u tell me his is best? I am not a professional photographer same time I go out and click some pic.
Hey man, what type of SD card do I need? I plan on buying a card from Walmart for this camera but I wasn't sure which one I would need. Can you let me know ASAP? Thanks!!
You might want to wait for the upcoming Canon SX60, but that will be probably around $550+ in the first year... I understand that if it comes out 4-12 months from now, that is kinda late already, plus waiting 1 more year for the price drop is not something that you want to do... You decide. I would go SX50, if you need a cam soon
The canon has LOT nicer colors at night, and the best stabilization out of all point and shoots, which would be a num 1 choice for me for youtube. In general I also like the canon more. Either way, Sony HX300 or SX50.
yup, as of July + August 2013, $200 is pretty frequent "sale" Price at target and other vendors.
If you are asking is in beautiful and crisp and smooth video quality, answer is no.Is it acceptable while walking normal speed, not really, except if you want to annoy people and get dislikes. It is OK for walking very slow and careful around the house (not for me, but for some people it might be good enough for that,or putting it on a stand and making still vids, or sitting and filming. Pic still will be grainy sluggish, and focus will be still the same, and it will not look like Pacific Rim :P
I suggest getting rechargeable NIMH batteries
I really like it! I'm not a big camera guy but this would be very cool that have! I also like the 30 times zoom!
Its ok. But when you are zooming in, it tends to move in and out of focus if you zoom in closer to the highest end of the zoom. What I do is press it down or go on zoom in mode when im recording to make it clearer. After a while the focus got better for me with the close up mode. But thats just me.
Canon 1100D or Nikon L820
looks like a good camera, is it worth for doing stop motion videos, like getting close up to legos, or making a video with my freinds?
My camera shows "this card cannot be used"
Can anyone help for this issue
Cheers.
Oh man, I REALLY want this now!
you should put amazon links to the products you unbox so if someone wants to buy em they can.
i am confused between nikon l820 and sony dsc h200...not much price diff between these two....i would like to know ur POV?
Just bought mine for my RUclips channel! Very much looking forward to upgrading from my cheap camcorder I already have!
Does this camera have an audio jack input? (3.5mm)?
It doesn't really matter but I'd like to know if it does still.
While taking a still photo on full zoom and auto settings and not on tripod, the picture is completely blurred. What do I have to do to fix this?
owaw!!! this video isso nice and this camera is also effective. I like this product.
hi there, thanks for the preview. I want to know more about the baterai durability. How many shots can it takes?
I have this camera from a year now and i just have to say i love it!!! for real so easy to use and a good quality I buy it especially for mys sister's wedding and you know what i took over 500 pictures and they come out perfect and beautiful i did a better job of the "photographers' they did a crappy job with better cameras.
Thanks for your meaning, now I think I'm sure, I will buy this camera! :)
Nikon L330 is mUch better :p
josh joshu better in what?
Hi thank you for your video .
I have the same camera yes batteries (forget it) I go thru to many. Also please tell me how I can take a picture or when I take a pic does it get saved on my memory card.
Also it tell me my card can't be read. Even do I hit the slide up and down slider on my memory card adapter.
I have an L820 and I am having trouble finding multiple exposure on the menu settings
You can't change the ISO or aperture?
Yes you can change the ISO
I have this camera in black, it's pretty awesome!
No. I dont think so. & it has manual focus. (if what you mean by that is holding down the picture taking button half way until its focused where you want)
Hi, gr8 video!!!...i actually shoot on the go and frequently run out of battery power...the provision for using AA batteries in this cam compels me to buy it...can u please suggest any other cameras which r better than this and can be used with AA batteries!!
Najmanja i am from serbia and was considering of buying this camera but a cheaper option is the coolpix p 520 a good dslr that is about 300 e is the d3100 or the d3000
Can anyone explain on the Superzoom point and shoot feature of this camera.
I love the Nikon L820. The only thing I have found is that the playback once transferred onto my PC, the sound will stop at about 13 sec. The beginning is great. Something I'm doing? I don't know. Someone help me out. Thanks.
hi i have a quarry for this camera, that does any body used this camera with AC adapter directly without batteries. i want to purchase a AC adapter for video suite with Nikon l820.
I cant make up my mind between the the Nikon Coolpix l820 or Nikon Coolpix p520
any ideas
For other Amazon/black friday lovers.. Is this camera going to be gone by tomorrow? I can't afford any thing till the first of december but I'm worried it will be gone. There are 19 left and the price is dropping.. Is it to late??
Please answer. How do i change the aperture.
wow nice camera i think to buy this one
which one to choose sony cyber shot dsc-h200 or Nikon Coolpix L820 ??
please help me
So my digital camera hit the dust this weekend and I need a camera that takes AMAZING pictures no matter what the lighting conditions are and where I am.
Would this camera be able to suit my needs?? I would also like to know what anyone does not like about this camera. Thanx
I bought this camera, the pictures are vivid and sharp and the zoom is great. However whenever I try to record the video starts flashing purple. It varies from only a bit of the screen to sometimes the whole of it. Any help?
That is odd! It may be a malfunction I have used the L820 for at-least 4 years now and have never had that happen. You should contact Nikon about that. Hope you get the problem fixed.
Something might be wrong.
this camera is on sale at qrgos for £120
where?
I agree, I let my niece take the pictures of my son birthday, the most of the pictures came out blurry.
Hi, I have the NikonL820, can you possibly help me with the recording feature? When I press the red recording button, it only lets me record for 10 seconds and when I play it back, the video is really slow motion. Do I need to adjust some settings, or what? I'm a real newbie on tech stuff so if anyone could help me out that would be great! Thank you.
You have it on 8x slower, you should go to the menu, go to movie options, then set it to 1080/30p or whatever you desire
hey what camera would u recommend for crisp smooth video that is around $400? image stabilization and shooting in low light are the most important things to me.
canon sx 500is or nikon l820.. which one would you prefer? and why?.. I need your thoughts..
Would this camera be good for concert photos? I can't take my Nikon SLR into concerts, so looking for a good P&S to take photos/videos
Can it shoot video for longer than 30 seconds? I just got mine and don't know much of anything about cameras but was under the impression that it wasn't limited to 30 seconds.
The Nikon L820 isnt bad its display quality is okay , i need one hmm
I have had this camera for several years. Recently the pictures don't seem as sharp or as vivid. I don't know what has happened. George...
How do I download the driver for this camera L820 into my computer with WIN7
Im not completely sure, but It is very short. It runs on AA batteries so yeah. I have the camera and i used it all night and it ran out in about 4 hours. Im not completely sure, but thats just me.
NikonL820...Does this have a delay in the shutter speed???
Sure like your Video's....
is there a mic hook up?
The shutter is slow, things in motion cannot be clicked , it becomes blurr easily
What do you recommend for a higher quality camera?
specification tells us aboud double stabilization (optic and digital). Can You turn off digital stabilization?
can this be used for taking good shots of pictures of someone playing sport on a football field. will this zoom in enough and will it be in good quality?
Ik I’m late but does the camera have a mic on it
i love this camera, especially the sound quality, but i need help, for some unknown reason sometimes the videos and sound are out of sync and it can ruin video making for me, can anyone help me out as to why this happens?
You can find rechargeable AAs everywhere.
i really liked this camera when i saw it in the store but at the price at 250.99 instore... is there anywhere else i can get this same camera for cheaper price...this really looks like an amazing camera the only downside is the battery
When you say the picture quality isn't the greatest , do you think thats because the image sensor isn't big enough ?.
How Long would the battery Life last with the batteries?
So you can't change the lens?
