  • I couldn't stand for the squealing any longer - and had already removed and oiled the existing blower motor once. Here, I cover the steps taken to access and replace the current unit. Due to the tight confines and hard to reach location, I couldn't record the whole process in real-time. I am not a mechanic by trade, but do perform repairs and light maintenance on my own vehicles. This is specific to a 2008 CLS 550, and may apply to other years and models.
    Please check with the manufacturer for your specific make and model unit. This video is posted for information purposes only. Please consult with a professional. This is not intended to give professional advice; it is simply me proceeding through a chosen repair approach and demonstrating how I did so.

    Thank you so much.
    I was trying to approach it like my Ml blower, through the glove box. You set me right.
    One point, on the CLS....it is a bugger to contort yourself to get up under there....sheer misery.
    That said, 85 canukistan bucks, 30 minutes of wrenchin and bendin, and now I have peace.
    Great video, thank you once again!

      I see you can relate to the sheer agony of the DIY life. Particularly working under the glove box in the front seat of a car like this. Congrats and Kudos! Thanks for the comment.

      A note on the DYI people such as myself.
      We'd be lost if it wasn't for people like you with the time and patience to show those who seek to know, how to do things that 20 years ago would have been impossible.

      @@kittypigeonclueless5566 I guess I'd have to admit that in today's day and age particularly given the covid-19 circumstances, we all need patience and hopefully have a little bit of time. I've benefitted greatly myself from the DIY community, so it's nice to be able to pay it forward and also benefit a little bit from platforms like RUclips. Thanks so much and be well.

    I have a 06 CLS 55 AMG and that noise is the worst! I hear it everyday looks easy enough to do my self. Thanks for the video I’m going to try it

      Agreed, the sound was annoying beyond belief. Working in front of the passenger seat is a tight fit, but it's certainly doable. First time I removed the unit I tried simply oiling the shaft, that only brought limited results, you're better off replacing the unit. Best of luck!

    Is the A/C or heater controlled by a relay at all? I couldn't find anything on the wiring diagram. My a/c & heater won't work at all & sometimes they do-do you think it's a bad blower motor? It doesn't squel as much as your old one did.

    If that messes up does it stop your vents to blow?

    • @AndyMahnFL411
      @AndyMahnFL411  3 года назад

      Yes, this will absolutely affect the airflow through your vents.

    Will this work with the 2014 cls 550

    • @AndyMahnFL411
      @AndyMahnFL411  10 месяцев назад

      I suspect the process will be similar, but looks like the part may be different, I see the part is listed specific to the 2012-2018 (2nd Gen) CLS model. Mine was a 2008.
      I initially took the blower motor out and oiled the spindle hoping that that would work, that gave me limited results, if it's starting to squeal on you, you might be better off just simply replacing it once and for all.

      @@AndyMahnFL411 I had it replaced just over a year and a half ago.. and now it’s making a rattling noise as opposed to the “squeaking” noise from before. I hope I won’t have to replace it so I’ll try to apply the oil / see if there’s any debris. Should I use a specific oil?
