I made an error when taking making the example railgun in the footage around 5:55 I added too many cores and scaled up the addons to match. It's half that many cores, I just forgot that railgun cores are 2x size. All the gameplay and my ship loadout is on the size 4 railguns (scaled up to purple quality with upgrades). Sorry about the confusion!
Yep just wanted to ask how you put 8 slots on 4 slots, Btw can you show us that 4 slots build? And another thing, on your build you had 27 gun slots and 126 equipment slot? Knowing the ship has like 115, and 20gun slots
i think your pd lasers are wrong too. they're .5 size too big. btw for some reason my railguns don't do the explosion thing. what is going on with that?
Capping off the Star Valor content for now due to the new PoE league tomorrow, I hope you folks enjoyed it. I want to do a lot more coverage of awesome indie games in the future, indies are 99% of what I play these days and there's a lot of great stuff out there to recommend.
I'm new to the game and just stumbled upon the hephaestus quest thing while playing. I went a different route with my setup though. I put autofiring gatling missiles in both sides and pd beams in the 3 spine turrets with a looted orange quality cannon in the main front gun slot. Most things would be dead before I even got in range to see them but the ones that survived the missiles died rather quickly as soon as I got to them and shot them in the face with my cannon. Next time I play I plan on trying something similar to what you have here. This ship is by far the best one I've encountered in the game so far, so I plan on using it a lot.
EXACTLY what I was thinking watching this for the first time and seeing his damage output on a 4 slot weapon?!?!? I'm going to go ahead and assume this was done pre-release?
Love that you went with broadside rail guns. I like to mirror my broadside setup on the Hephaestus so it doesn't matter which side faces the enemy. It also lets my slide between enemies and broadside both sides at once. Usually my top choices are plasma early on, then heavy plasma on the broadsides. Or I jump to flak cannons and use them to take out enemies as they try to chase me down. The three turrets I usually have improved lasers on two of them and point defense in the third. For the front I've done a Doom Cannon for style points, or a mining laser since the broadsides are so effective. Such a good ship.
I think there is a mistake in the charging railgun crafting, it says it will take 8 slots, but there is only 4 available on the side mounts, or am I missing something?
Oops sorry about that! It's supposed to be 2 cores instead of 4 I think. Not at my PC right now but iirc railguns are 2 size per core which would explain it. Scale back a bit to fit.
mine is set up a lot like yours but no railguns, i have two orange peacemakers for the side mounts, and a huge gatling explosive cannon on the front. pds every where else. i also have orange ardonian armor with a total 76% resist, 206 absorb, 156 regen, with a bubble for the death rays. the rest is similar. repair system etc.
Turning with keyboard - is that what most ppl do for larger ships? Or all ships? Was playing on steam deck and now PC with mouse aiming, but hard to land the broadsides that way. Will try your build (with my shitty newb gear - I did figure out beam lasers in turrets, and will try missiles on one broadside and focus facing of a large cannon - likely plasma for now as I am still lvl 25-ish)
I ran a badboy until level 50, when I decided to complete the children of terra missions, and got the Zeus blueprint. I was levelled to high to do the quest for the hephestus when I learned about it. Zeus is just like the Hephestus, only bigger. 3 broadside mounts on each side instead of one, but no 360 degree turrets.
I'd love to give the Zeus a go when I get the chance, I'm maybe halfway to having the materials to build it. Those ardonian components are a bit of a bottleneck (unless you progressed by maxing out mining maybe!)
I thought the quest was going to stay there forever, so I accidently out leveled it and it was removed from my quest log 😭 I'll have to do another playthrough to get it, which sounds great anyways. Sorry to see it shelved, but I get you gotta PoE. I hope you enjoy the league.
Railguns are always op, i use shark with railguns, lvl 25 i m already in this quest for this ship but i lack good equipments like yours so i doubt i will be able to fend huge waves of enemies you are facing. I still hide behind stations
I understand capping off the star valor content as the new PoE league is coming up, but is there more star valor content in vod form on twitch that continues on from where the last video ended? I absolutely loved the star valor content!
I used the spinal as my main and its not as fun as using the broadside...but an 8 space railgun doing 1600 per pop at level 22 is pretty fuckin' cool none the less. :)
In 3 of the gun locations you have special handling weapon points that probably double the number of shots fired, this is offset by adding a damage adjustment, but 1 gun * 2 shots -.33 damage should work out OK, let us see 10 dmg * 2 = 20 * .66 = 13.2 > 10 so yes you get more damage if you hit the target. I am just guessing but the Hephaestus has that effect as well for the side-mounted weapons. I would say check the wiki but that did not help :)
im surprised that it has many similarities in ways with Avorion,a game you covered in the past.Do you not play Avorion anymore?Or maybe you don't like it or it has become overly too complicated n not that fun anymore, which is how i feel anyway. This game feels simpler and more fun,Avorion just feels tedious.Even thought this game feels too expensive for an indie game n the way it is.
Not sure if the ship and gear just took a massive nerf since you dropped this video, or you just telling untruths, but there is no way that a railgun of size 8 would fit on this ships broadside
No nerf just a mistake in the weapon crafting footage I took as explained in some of the other comments. Sorry about that. All the footage is done with the appropriately sized railgun (just scale the cores and addons back).
Wait that railgun was size 8? What? The turrets are 3 slot max, and the sizes are 3 slop. That only leaves those to spinal locations sure but then 20 - 16 = 4 points, seems like a bad plan? Now you made the missiles size 4, are you sure you even play this game. OK, I know you play and you are better than me, but still, these samples are bad examples :) Maybe I can fix them but just saying :)
I made a little mistake and added too many cores for the picture I took, sorry about that. It's been noted in other comments as well. I forgot that railgun cores are twice the size so it just needs scaling back a bit.
@@ZiggyDGaming Thanks, they also touched up and altered the ship, not sure about the timing on that and your video. I unlocked mine then it was in a level 47 zone and I'm like level 21, I did jump to it a bit later, but I'm waiting now till I can equip it properly. The computer is starting to send in much larger assault fleets, yes I can probably still win when they send a dreadnought but I chose to leave my ship had no space left and the enemy had just deleted the last space station in the system :)
Star Sector is amazing, and they are the same genre but pretty different experiences. I love both myself! For me star sector is closer to a strategy game while this is more like an Action RPG set in space.
I was curious how the two compare, but they're very obviously different and give different experiences just at a glance. Saying it's lamer is like saying Starcraft 2 is just a shitty Supreme Commander.

Great solo self found league starter for sure.

The custom railgun build is size 8, the slot that uses the railgun is size 4.
