    Published depth and actual depth are two different things. Their actual capabilities are military secrets and the depth and speed of these vessels are probably much greater than what is reported to the media.

      yes you are right , im pretty sure the russian subs are even more capable ! they have small subs with 6km depth and are building one that can go 11km down

    En and Ru wikipedias are a bit different, and the .ru Wikipedia says Losharik has confirmed 3000m dive test, and rumors has it can dive to 6000m

    We've been to the Mariana Trench in the 60's, but it's the Russians who dived deeper. And have faster subs. A 3rd world country that has nuclear weapons.

      Increased depth = stealth. Stealth is the primary advantage a submarine offers in naval strategy.

      @@BolverkrLimited it is old concept, for sub vs sub battle. For firing surface missiles they need a specific depth close to the surface
