    If you are not in a hurry to get to your destination, you can glide there. You make the Manta a little heavier than surrounding sea water with a slight downward trim. The Manta glides in whatever direction you have programed into it. When it reaches depth, you make the Manta a little lighter than the surrounding sea water with a little upward trim and it glides up toward the surface, also in the direction you want. Very little energy used. The Argo floats use a similar system.

      Sounds do carry faster in water because of the O2 in the H2O molecules. That’s why scientists and sonar specialists can hear a whale from hundreds of miles away!!! IMO, sonar works best under water?! Scientists & Engineers will figure out how to use sonar as a signal (without being detected) to input messages directly to the unman submarine?… Later add Artificial Intelligence-AI, means, that sub will it be as deadly as Sky Net! Hopefully Engineers will input to the AI not commit any actions without the approval by human command!! For example; A Submarine Capt. per sei?!?

  • @barrybarlowe5640
    @barrybarlowe5640 2 месяца назад +1

    As a High School student I designed something very similar. It would have a variety of uses. Basic autonomous layout would be a mine layer - not in the traditional sense, but would infiltrate fleets and carefully fasten explosive charges directly to the hull of enemy ships. Since it doesn't require a containment vessel with an atmosphere, it doesn't even require being water-tight whiich means its signature is that much easier to disguise. Second use would be to extend a friendly fleet's sensor range to warn or intercept enemy vessels/missiles, even further from fleets than then possible. It would accentuate strategic fire solutions against incoming threats.
    It could also act as 'wingmen' in a submarine fleet action, utilizing strategies originally suited for combat aircraft in the oceanic environment. As their operational depth is much greater than a manned sub, they could work in concert, and extend the manned vessels operating range and depth.
    I did not envision AI as they are currently designed. Though Mantas are limited as threats due to weapon loads, there is the possibility of them being 'hacked' and turned on friendly vessels. To avoid this, they could operate on preprogrammed operations where the operation is over, once the weapon load is depleted. That is the nature of a Doomsday device.

    now i am curious ... if the pressure of water changes as it does every 100 feet or so... could a 120' sub use that pressure variance to generate power? what do i mean? think of a siphon... using a tube... pressure from one side pushes liquid through a tube to reach the lower pressure. thou a 210 foot sub would potentially be able to use this effect more... allowing the water to push a turbine to generate power could work, i just don't know how much power could be made? wave power, water currents etc are all options as well. even the temperature variance between depths could be utilized.. thou all of these may require structures more akin to gas stations... that could be potential targets in wartime, in peacetime they could allow a sub to recharge without ever surfacing... and these sites could also be for storing food /materials etc to resupply the submarines. as to avoid going to port or meeting up with another vessel at the surface. sorry too many ideas rattling in my head.. but always looking for a place to share. peace.
