naah don't presolder the pads, like ever, it's so dumb. press the flex around the caps, flux it all and then solder the thing, presoldering will just make the whole thing that much more difficult
@@Deathbyfartz i think there’s an argument to be made for it being a waste of time but making it more difficult is a completely insane remark not sure how it could possibly make it harder also there are pads on the bottom, while not required they do need to be pretinned also the vast majority of the apu adapters i get are poorly cut and don’t just press around the caps
It's really not dumb, it's preference. Is it necessary? No, but you can't fault the guy for going the extra mile with solder joints. I just had to remove an RP2040 from an OLED, and swap it with the Instinct, because whomever modded the switch before me didn't know how to solder clean joints properly...so, yes, I prefer people do more than necessary than not enough.
@@PaulFlart-MallBlart In hindsight i think im not going to pretin the back side of the Apu flex anymore but ill probably keep doing the rest, I find it saves me the little bit of effort when im actually installing the flex’s and i feel like i dont need to apply heat in the area as long as
You're doing good but i feel like the tip you're using is slowing you down and making it more difficult. I feel like KU tip or chisel tip would be better for you. Hey, take this as constructive criticism, you need to chill out, you bent the hell out of the shield and used a crap ton of thermal paste, enough for atleast 5 switch lites.
Hey can you mod chip link in description or comment pin i cant find the one you use as im doing this for the first time and im just going to copy your video apppreicate you thanks
@@obnoxiousmods i found that but im also doing a lite so your saying i should buy that oled one and then buy another switch lite pico fly kit and mix and match parts ? How comes you do this ?
@@obnoxiousmods i did i search instinct v6s and found the oled kit but would i also need buy the picofly switch lite kit so that i can get the gold adapter to use with the instinct v6s, so buy 2 kits
@@ubs220 No, you aren’t looking carefully. Look at the title of the video, it’s using a 3 in 1 model. Please review all of the listings on AliExpress. You will see ones that include adapters that work for the Lite even tho it’s for the OLED
Cool 😎
Thank you

Everytime I try new tips I have really far from desirable results compared to a gross cone tip and them shields gotta come off somehow
@@FabioKastro I was mainly trying the Fine tip pinecil set but i just ordered the gross tip pinecil set hopefully i’ll like that more

It allows you to run unsigned code
