The default mount being a smilodon seems like a bug. The default mount for a mounted warrior should obviously be a horse. Order of the sword also sounds the best. Also, the butchering of Gendarme made me cry.
In the table top Cavaliers have to select from a very small pool of animal companion they can ride, except the beast rider which can select any companion they can ride. I think they'll end up with medium races being stuck with horses, while smaller races can get a couple more, except for Beast riders which can select any companions. Also in the table top you can use a standard action, while displaying your greater banner, to let your allies re-roll any saving throws that can be re-rolled.
What classes can use dinosaurs? (never played TTP) I ask because they were a kickstarter stretch goal, and it would seem pretty weird from a cost/benefit viewpoint to create graphics for them, but only have them available to a scant few classes/archetypes. Although, I guess they never specified how many dinos... it could just be one or two.
@@schlobopoin6348 Any class with an animal companion except for the Ranger, Paladin, Cavalier and Bloodrager Bloodrider archetype. Druids, Clerics, Inquisitors, Barbarians, Hunters, maybe Shaman if they have the right spirit can all get them. They can also be summoned with some of the levels of "summon monster". I think some of the unreleased archetypes will have animals companions as well, in particular I think there will be a druid archetype themed around the dinosaur, based on the Saurian Shaman druid archetype.
The first thing I looked into for a Cavalier was to become Powerwolf: The character. Order of The Star, diety of choice: Jezelda, Mistress of The Hungry Moon, and the first lycanthrope. Her cultists and followers believe humanoids to be prey, and all non wolf lycanthropes an insult to the universe. My goal as a Cavalier of Jezelda, destroy the cursed non-wolf lycanthropes, at all cost. Spread the blessing of lycanthropy if you happen to get it. Due to the fact that lycanthropic creatures in general are a blight to most townships, you dont have to be chaotic evil either to follow this diety, incase you have to deal with a "no evil characters" DM. Good people do bad things. Bad people do evil things. Dawn your armor, and wage a holy war against the enemy lycanthropes.
At 14:10 you are indeed not pronoucing that right ;-) From wikipedia: The word gendarme is a singular extracted from Old French gens d'armes [ʒɑ̃ d‿ aʁm], meaning men-at-arms. During the Late Medieval to the Early Modern period, the term referred to a heavily armoured cavalryman of noble birth, primarily serving in the French army. The word gained policing connotations only during the French Revolution when the Maréchaussée of the Ancien Régime, attached to the Gendarmerie before, by the Monarchy, was renamed, "Gendarmerie". Type the word in translate if you want to hear it I guess :-) Nice video as always !
The pronunciation is similar to "jon-darm, or "shawn-darm." But the first syllable is accented in a way I don't know how to communicate in writing, It starts with kind of a "z" sound.
@@MrGouldilocks Yeah I'm bad at writing sounds, but I'm french so I can tell you it's closer to "jon-darm". If you can pronounce "Jean" the french way, it's more like "Jean-darm"
men-at-arms are slightly different in the way that it merely refers to an heavily armoured cavalryman, un "homme d'armes" en francais et non un gendarme qui est un noble. (gendarme=chevalier francais 2.0)
Kind of confused about the companion mount needs level to grow to the size of a mount. It seems to be a bit of a blessing for the Standard Bearer which get the mount much closer to the level where it grew up to Large size. And there is nothing wrong with the animation in the beginning. The cavalier is just one with his mount. :D
Oh also if I pick up a level in base cavalier and have a large animal companion already is that equivalent to beast rider? Will my existing large smilodon be an accepted mount?
if its like the first game, you can buy non-companion npc mercenaries (meaning no story tie in, they're just there). dont level up past level 1 because the cost goes up based on level... by ALOT. so you can have both.
Well, you can in the tabletop. What you need to do is take I believe its 4 ranks of lore nature. Then take a feat called Animal Ally (however this animal companion will be 3 levels behind you similar to a rangers companion). From there you will need to spend another feat on boon companion to bring it up to your level, then one final feat on mounted combat. It's a bit of an investment but it works out. There was a mod I used in kingmaker that added in Animal Ally but I don't think its in the base game. I also cant speak to WotR since I'm not in the beta.
I don't think mount will be speciphic, but you will most likely need an aninal companion. I remember barbarian getting AC whit an archetype, but for fighters i don't know. A cavalier archetype gets extra feats, wich would make it very close to what you want to play.
I hope the animal companion feat is in the game, one of my main goals for wrath is to play a character with an animal companion and being able to get it on class with a feat opens my options up way more.
No, but 'Fighter with a horse' is basically what a Cavalier is already. Classes with animal companions will be able to mount them if they meet the size requirements. Except for the horse, most of them start as medium size and grow to large at level 7. Only small races like halflings and gnomes can ride a medium sized mount, everyone else will need to have a horse companion or wait until 7.
Ah, the Death Knight class. Simply walk the lich road until your mount of choice can carry you to glory! Not even joking here, between the mythic companion ability, the charge feats ( both mythic and lich stack) and the ability to turn your mount into an actual undead that gains full benefits of your lich's undead companion buffs! For some reason though, the game won't let you ride polymorphed mounts. Increased size yes, turned into a dragon no. Major buzz kill.
Don't get your hopes up. Ubercharging is much harder to pull off in videogames. The last time i tried doing it in a game i got the satisfaction of oneshotting a marylith, but other than that, most fights where in cramped dungeons.
Disciple of the Pike might be for me as I really wanted to play spears in kingmaker but it alwys felt hamperd so I settled for a dwarf Slayer with axes. Because warhammer : 3
I know it was Beta but who in their right mind after seeing the rider's feet phased thru the mount like he was Fred Flintstone thought: "Looks good, lets package it in the next release!"
So far i really dislike animal companions because they are way to big and take up to much space . Its distracting. However ive only seen Ekuns dog from kingmaker.
Since I'm first: Thank you for doing these videos, very much appreciated by someone who doesn't have an access to the beta!
Disciple of the Pike sounds great. I normally play a reach character and this class seems as if it will be supercharged
She's a weapon of mass divinity.

Disciple of the Pike is perfect for an angry halfling or gnome
I’ve been enjoying these videos so much. Thanks!
ride a smilodon... BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL! I HAVE THE POWEEEEER!

I just watched the whole video yet I still have absolutely no clue about anything :D The gameplay in these games is insane :D

I made a halfling sylvan sorceress. She needed a nat20 to climb onto her wolf.

I'm very sad that Order of the Flame wasn't chosen for this game. I love the Suicide Knights.
Oh also if I pick up a level in base cavalier and have a large animal companion already is that equivalent to beast rider? Will my existing large smilodon be an accepted mount?
Thats what i wantwd to know, have u tested it?
I really want to try a standard-bearer. but I am torn because I also want to try bloodrager.
if its like the first game, you can buy non-companion npc mercenaries (meaning no story tie in, they're just there). dont level up past level 1 because the cost goes up based on level... by ALOT. so you can have both.
mounts are not specific to beast rider right? I can get a fighter and get a horse later?

Great video!
why so many of those abilities are only for one round ?
I reckon cavalier 1 will be a top tier dip for any animal companion character
finially mounts! I refuse to enter the dungeon on my own too feet.
"Knights, squires!...prepare for battle" O Fortuna starts playing.
This. Excalibur and bretonnia are happy that I can finally charge enemy ranks using the old ways as a grail knight.

Haven't seen it anywhere else, but I'm curious if they will add lances to WotR. Cavaliers with lances can be scary.
I haven't seen any in game, but the abilities do say lances several times, but that might just be a copy paste type thing
Don't get your hopes up. Ubercharging is much harder to pull off in videogames. The last time i tried doing it in a game i got the satisfaction of oneshotting a marylith, but other than that, most fights where in cramped dungeons.
if you get this message, they have confirmed Lances are a weapon type
Seeing as you can give faith to your mount, order of the star may actually be pretty good.
Disciple of the Pike might be for me as I really wanted to play spears in kingmaker but it alwys felt hamperd so I settled for a dwarf Slayer with axes. Because warhammer : 3
Perhaps smilodon is simply switched with horse trough a bug of some kind.
I know it was Beta but who in their right mind after seeing the rider's feet phased thru the mount like he was Fred Flintstone thought: "Looks good, lets package it in the next release!"
Busted? Wait that's not how you ride a horse... oh that explains a lot. Excuse me I have some phone calls to make...
So does the mount act like a regular animal companion when you're not riding it?
Yes
Cavalier sounds awesome m just running around and stabbing things with a lance
Ironically mounts and mounted combat is still extremely buggy and broken.
Order of the Shroud...then turn into a Lich...
beast rider losing heavy armor is kinda bs if you ask me
@To Release is To Resolve oh shut up, no i won't deal with it, and i don't have to either.
Ah, Budget Paladin makes it in a game.
Cavaliers and Paladins are very different in Pathfinder.
I know. I've had the pleasure of playing with a Samurai on PFS.
So far i really dislike animal companions because they are way to big and take up to much space . Its distracting. However ive only seen Ekuns dog from kingmaker.
