You would get bored very quickly! 2, maybe 3 times a day there are a couple of flights, The rest of the time nothing happens, it is a very quiet airport. They open the airport, a couple of planes land and take off, that is it for a few hours until the next "busy" spell.

What’s dangerous. Go arounds are not unusual and are safe.. lounge also makes fresh sandwiches and salads on request at no charge.. Also in Business Class on the E190 it’s a 2-2 configuration and you don’t get an empty seat next to you if the flight is full. ThE only downside of Club Europe on the E190 especially as complimentary catering snd drinks including alcohol is included in Euro Traveller.

Nearly crashed at Gib airport in October 1988. Huge turbulence and wind shear on the way in, touched a wing on the runway, wheels finally down halfway along then aborted the landing and flew round avoiding Spanish airspace at the height of the bridges of the ships at anchor trying to gain height on the turn. Finally landed at Faro in Portugal. One of my fellow passengers flew in a refuelling VC10 for the Black Buck raids in the Falklands conflict (which was pretty hairy at times) and even he said that landing was the closest he'd been to considering his destiny.

Flown in and out many times. Only time I have ever been sick flying was the first time out of Gibraltar. The really sharp right turn at the Mediterranean end whilst climbing. Presumably to avoid Spanish air space. But loved flying in at night and seeing all the fire flies. Good old Gibair operated by Bland.

Had a week in Gibraltar awhile ago. The rock itself has a nature reserve with cable car to the top and miles of footpaths to explore. There are also tunnels through the rock dating back hundreds of years that are open to the public. At the southern end they have a WW2 Artillery Gun emplacement and from there you can see across to North Africa. The islands museum is also worth a visit. Plenty of good place to eat. Recommended and hope to go back again soon.

Excellent- brought back memories. I spent two years there mid 1950’s when serving in the RAF. Plenty service aircraft movements -no lounge as you see now but tourists did arrive by BEA in a DC3 (later Vickers Viscount). When strong winds were blowing the pilot would fly from the north at right angles to the runway then do a quick right turn and land. I’m sure the passengers thought that dangerous.

The main problem landing a plane is the wind coming over the rock, the wind coming over create a vortex, a rolling formation of wind currents. These rolling side winds can change directions suddenly and then the short runway doesn't help either

In Georgia USA, salmon is pronounced with the L, or SALmon! The L is not left out, and no reason why it should be. It's not SAMmon! OK?
