    I think this tale is very close to the heart of J.R.R - it is as epic, sad & beautiful as the Norse sagas that inspired him

    • @glennross85
      @glennross85 6 лет назад +15

      The Battle of Gondolin was actually directly inspired by Tolkiens experiences during WWI. Early versions of the story also included the armies of Morgoth using advanced mechanical contraptions such as armoured personell carriers and tanks.

    Tolkien managed to combine so many standalone legends, stories and tales into one universe spanning thousands of years. And it all looks sound and coherent. What a literary prodigy.

      The name Beren was placed on his headstone, just as the name Luthien was on his wife's. Perhaps even now they're together in the hemlock glade beneath the moonlight.

      I support this as well. There are quite a few Elven races out there, and I find it difficult to keep them apart. I am only familiar with the Noldor and Sindar. Noldor were the ones that journeyed to Valinor and the Sindar didn't, they choose to stay in the forest of Doriath, correct? But there are other Elven races as well. Like the lowly Silvan Elves, and the bright blonde Elves who only live in Valinor.

    • @feartorren8794
      @feartorren8794 6 лет назад +1

      Sander Skovly Silvan are descendants of Teleri(they fell away from the Great Journey), which were rude and rustic and later ruled by the Sindar elves when they came and merged together

    • @evermore7458
      @evermore7458 6 лет назад

      Darth Vader at first there was Minyar Nelya and Tatyar. All the Minyar half the tartar and 46 out of 74 nelyar when on the great march, becoming Noldor Vanyar and Teleri. Those who stayed became Avari and were led by Morwë and Nurwë. Some Teleri broke of at the Anduin and became Nandor, led by lenwë. They spread out and mixed with Avari to become Silvan. Denethor lenwë’s son led some Nandor into Beliriand and they became Lauquendi or green elves. The Teleri sundered again when Círdan led some to the coast and became Falathrim, Olwë led some to Valinor and became Falmari and the rest became Eglath. The Eglath, Falthrim and Laiquendi were all Sindar and after the fall rules over the silvan

If it exists and you have read it by now can you tell us if it is a good book to read, or is it more similar to a documentary recording the fall of this city? Thanks in advance for your response!

I personally think the Men of the West Theories ’ series was my favourite series as I quite enjoyed listening to you make up theories on the various topics you discussed and I do hope you continue the series in the future.
    A few theories I think would make quite interesting topics are:
    1. What if Old Man Willow got the Ring of Power
    2. What is Ar-Phazon’s army and/or Numenor survived
    3. What if Morgoroth never tainted the world and/or spread lies and corruption among the Children of Illuvatar
    Can’t wait to see the many amazing videos that are to come to this channel!

    I found it tragic and yet was glad that Tuor and Turin met unknowingly but didn't speak. As nice and heart warming as it would've been for the two cousins to have united (like their fathers). Yet it would have been a disaster as Tuor would've most likely have been intwined with Turins curse that Morgoth gave to his family. So maybe it was for the best that they didn't meet properly. Also in the Children of Hurin book, apparently when Turin was in Nargothrond, he did hear tidings about Tuor....but sadly he didn't question the news any further coz of the Dragon problem. 🐉

    The theophany of Ulmo before Tuor at Vinyamar is one of my favorite moments in The Silmarillion. Ulmo is my favorite Vala. He seems more attentive to the needs of Middle Earth and its peoples even than Manwe. And remains involved in Middle Earth when the other Valar have largely withdrawn.

    • @tylersoto7465
      @tylersoto7465 2 года назад

      Ulmo is my favorite and tulkas too love them both and like how ulmo protects gondolin ,
      I had a dream once that I was a immortal god being with super strength like superman, super speed and flight, could heal anything and anyone with a touch make things come alive with a touch , turn anything or anyone to any creature I wanted and could shoot solar beams out of my hands etc and brought enlightenment and prosperity to middle earth after sauron died, I tamed Shelob by beating her up and the people of Gondor had a huge supply of spider silk to make elaborate fine clothes, dresses, shirts, pants , hats and rope and tapestries and it's spider silk it made their clothes bullet proof basically being safer if attacked and made gondor more wealthy and went to moria to help clear out the orcs for the dwarves to recolonize it and Killed the watcher lake monster at moria and brought it to gondor and people had a big feast eating lots of sushi that night and boy did they feast and for some reason they teriyaki, orange and Wassabi sauces but I couldn't eat it 🤢, so i asked them to just cook me a whole beef cow filling a table full of beef etc with a pile of melted cheese, ale and pipe weed and we celebrated , Me and Gandalf had a blowing smoke contest with our smoke pipes, and just watching the people live simply, happy and blessed lives made me feel happy and content and I'll come around once every few months or so with mighty catches I get from strong monsters and creatures giving to them to feast on, make fine furs and clothes, jewelry etc, or find a big stash of gold, jewels or metals that I find or mine and so forth and so forth just living as middle earth protector and sustainer lol 😎😙

    I have this for a theory episode: What if Arnor never fell? As a turning point you could have the Witch King's armies fail to distract the elves from Amon Sul when he lay siege, so his armies were surrounded, forcing him to flee. After such a crippling loss and subsequent of losses he abandons Angmar and flees to Mordor, so Arnor survives relatively. So my question is what would Arnor look like after this and what role will it have in the War of the Ring?

    Its kind of odd how the city was hidden yet the thumbnail shows a massive city in an open field. Surrounded by mountains sure but by no means hidden. I'm also pretty sure gondolin was built inside a mountain and was protected by runic doors and such.

    It can be a great great standalone movie. Even the name itself is thrilling. "The Fall of Gondolin Part I The Hidden Kingdom and Part II The Darkest Day".
    In theaters at Xmas 2019-2020.

      If you do Belegost and Nogrod keep in mind that there were other Dwarves in the Ered Luin that never fled to Khazad-dûm. "...but Dwarves dwelt, and still dwell, in the east side of the Blue Mountains, especially in those parts south of the Gulf of Lune, where they have mines that are still in use." - LotR, Appendix A.I.(iii).

    Anyone think that maybe Middle Earth history has been perverted by it’s elf-centric lense? Why don;t we ever hear from the perspectives of the balrogs?

    • @lendarin
      @lendarin 5 лет назад +2

      Supreme Lord Commander do you think, that Balrogs have soul? Do they have their own will? I am not sure. I imagine them more like animals, trained to hunt the good in Middle Earth. I don’t think, they really have perspective. Like the orcs, they exist for the sake of chaos and despair.

    The types of elves: at first there was Minyar Nelya and Tatyar.

    It's a great prequel. Thank you. Tour reminds me of captain talion of the black gate. What he did in the shadow wars was amazing. Stopping mordor from marching towards the free kingdoms of middle earth, and he also could've defeated sauron if not for celebrembor's betrayal.
