I saw a number of '71 Challengers back in my high school days. A friend of mine for a high school graduation present was given a crazy plum purple with a black vinyl top Challenger RT with a 440 Six Pack and a pistol grip shiftet. The car screamed.
I have a 71RT with a 383 Mag. All numbers match. Originally sage green with a cream interior and a white vinyl top. Today it sports a black top, gun metal gray paint job and a warmed over 383.
'70s gasoline? A forgotten trick was to mix leaded and unleaded gas - which was said to somehow leave you with an octane higher than either of the two by their self!
I had a 73 340 Challenger that I bought with 64K original miles. I seen it roll over three times with over 300K miles. I changed the motor twice. The second time was to beef it up a little bit. I bought the car in 1980 for $800 and it was my daily driver till 1999. Someone ran a red-light and T-bone me. The car was totalled and I ended up in the hospital for 12 days. It was a hit and run accident. I would love to have another old school Challenger.
@SidneyCeleste I hope to score another old school Challenger one day before I get too old. I had a 2017 Challenger R/T, but some meth head with no registration or insurance ran into the back of it, while I was in a center turn lane, making a left turn. She hit it had enough to total it. I have a tribute video of it on RUclips. ruclips.net/video/1RHcai1nFsE/видео.html
If you are wondering why you never see too many challenges with a shaker hood in 1970 Dodge only wanted to put it on the hemi cuda alone even though it was on the option list for a 70 Challenger the guy who owns the car the black ghost the hemi 70 Challenger had to file a lawsuit to get Dodge to give him the shaker when he got it finally he left it in the box and never put it on the car too many bad memories they sold the car at an auction a while back for a millions dollars I believe all of this because Dodge accidentally put it on the option list for a Challenger in 1970
Favorite year, favorite color. Awesome. Thanks for this video.

Nice car, however, should have sprung for the hemi. It would be worth a house today.
Hindsight is always 20-20.
