General service cost is one thing and another is the parts and component costs. I am a proud owner of VW Polo for past 9 years and I have had terrible experiences with parts replacement. For example, couple of months back, I had an issue with my ORVM switch. VW service replaced the switch for like 6500 rupees!! they added exterior coating (wax) without asking me and billed 8500 rupees in total! day light robbery for a Polo switch issue. Dealer says, they import these switches from Germany and said upgrade to Taigun/virtus to have costs down. Now this is what we call as Maintenance costs issue. I hope Ashish has a sense of this and takes it positively!
Never get Volkswagen again, you will end up getting into huge trouble than what you're facing now. Service cost and spare parts cost are unbearable for vitrus, taigun.

Dear mr sirish and mr. Ashish, thank you for another wonderful podcast. Appreciated the straight talking. As understood, there are around 7 lakh cars and SUVs lying unsold as on date at a cost of rs 73000 crores. Dealers claim an unsold inventory of 9 months. Car companies claim a figure of 4 months. Discounts of rs. 1 lakh to rs. 1.5 lakh per vehicle are being offered by dealers. Would appreciate your opinion on the subject. thank you very much.
Ecellent Interview ..i am German car fan and owned a Polo and a Jetta … now considering a TAIGUN…. so i have a few quest 1) why not allow the customers choice of customisation on the interiors …i never liked fabric and always have used the leatherette ….but VW only 1.5 GT line has that, when asked the VW downtown Mumbai dealer, told me it is possible but not advisable…abroad VW allows customisation to whatever one wants 2) The interior of the Taigun , just below the roof the material is not solid v flimsy, they need to address that in a INR 2mn car 3) Would also request VW to come up with a small car…

Polo is ❤ the way it drives and the 1.0 TSi damn capable. I decided to go for Polo automatic in 2021 even though i knew its production would stop. Recently I went to a VW showroom to check the Vitus and Tiguan. I was checking what value I would get for my 3 year old polo and what benefits on the new Vitus/Tiguan. Honestly, the enthusiasm shown by the showroom personnel was not very encouraging. If a loyal customer comes to you and asks for an upgrade, you come back with offers and sales tactics to entice the customer. It took 3 phone calls for them to come back with an offer for my polo, a mere 5.5 lakhs 😂. I am getting way more on Spinny and Cars24. And they didn’t follow up whether I am still interested. They just informed and no further calls.
The service is not up to the mark. I own a DSG Ameo but the service centre personnel are not able to answer simple DSG related queries like oil change schedule. Upon contacting VW customer care, they did not care to answer and they directed me to the dealer. The fun part is I got different answers from two dealers. I wouldn't buy a VW again if this kind of service level exists.
@@prasmgr There's nothing in a car that's sealed for life. Company will say that so that the car just survives the warranty period. Personally, I will change DQ200 fluids every 50k km.
@@panzer3279 I know and that's the reason I had reached out to VW customer care to get their official recommendation/opinion so that I can go back to the dealer. However, VW customer care always directed me to the dealers. At one point, I was frustrated and asked the dealer to go ahead and change the oil. The dealer said they cannot be held responsible if the gearbox did not behave like it used to be after oil change. I gave up after this and did not want to proceed when the service ppl are not confident enough to execute this simple work. There was absolutely zero support from VW. Ashish Gupta or whoever that is, they are either not in touch with reality or they pretend to ignore their customers. Personally, I had stopped at least 4 persons from buying VW. This is the pathetic state of VW service. They don't stand by their product.
I was so sold on getting a virtus. I really wanted the 1.5 TSI coz it didn't make sense to get pay upwards of 13 lakh for a 1 litre engine car. The ONLY thing that stopped me was the DSG gearbox. I llive in an urban city so a manual is out of the question. I do not know why manufacturers are forcing DSG gearboxes so much. Yeah, sure, they're sporty and all but there would always be a thought in the back of my mind about how it can fail and leave me stranded somewhere and cost lakhs to replace. I REALLY wish manufacturers offered the old school reliable TC(Torque Converter). Would reduce maintainence and cost of ownerships drastically.
Hope vw brings polo back at a good price point and ofcourse with attractive features and appealing look. As a leader & brand director, Ashish seems to be very good. Loved watching the whole video.

I own a Škoda. I love the brand and it’s character. I want these sister brands to create benchmarks in performance, style and build quality. What I don’t want to see is it giving in to feature fads and unnecessary trends. Škoda’s tagline is ‘simply clever’ and I enjoy all the clever little touches my car offers. ADAS is a feature that is by no means a necessity. This obsession has got to stop. And everything does not need to have sunroofs. So please use your best judgement as a brand!
Every brand director should actually drive and maintain their current car offering for themselves for everyday use. That's the best way they can experience customer experience and issues

A few months back we bought a Tiguan, our third VW in 12 years. At the time of delivery, the dealer's (Apple Auto, Whitefield, Bengaluru) representative took us to a third party service center for "software initiation". On the way to this service center we noticed that the blind spot monitoring system was working, with amber LEDs lighting up in the ORVMS. After the so called software initiation, the blind spot monitoring was no longer available. When this was taken up subsequently with the service advisor, we were told that the Tiguan did not have blind spot monitoring. Clearly, ADAS level one hardware is available in the Tiguan brought to India. But VW is disabling this safety feature when installing India specific software. VW has not even bothered to respond to a query addressed to them in this regard. Imagine a company deliberately disabling safety features in their top model.
So pretty much said no to next-gen Tiguan in favour of, presumably, cost cut Tayron, and zero chance of Polo GTI. As a current-gen TSI Tiguan owner that is sad to hear. First the fantastic Octy and now Tiggy gone :(
Ashish mentioned their efforts to improve customer touch points and provide better training for sales staff. However, my decision not to choose the Slavia over the Virtus was mainly due to the lack of interest I experienced from the Pune showrooms. As a VW enthusiast who has owned a Polo/Vento for 8-9 years, I feel that VW's brand value was stronger between 2012 and 2020. From what I’ve observed, VW seems to be losing its edge in customer touch points and I noticed a similar feedback from most of my colleagues, the VW sales folks here need a better training.
I'm getting a new Taigun from VW, and I can totally vouch for you-their sales team is a joke. The manager or senior guy was so damn cocky, he wouldn’t take any feedback from us at all. They couldn’t even answer our questions properly. Then there’s the accessory dude, trying to upsell us like his life depended on it. He flat-out refused to install a decent dashcam, claiming it would "void the warranty" and only their overpriced ones are "VW approved." What a load of crap! Their dashcam doesn’t even come close to the 70mai A810, but somehow it costs the same-20K. We're still going ahead with it just because there’s nothing out there that beats the TSI+DSG combo, and there won't be for a while. But honestly, it's a big risk dealing with this careless dealership.

I would like to ask WHY the Virtus Gt is the slowest of all when drag racing Virtus 1.5, Skoda 1.5 and Verna 1.5? And moreover how come Verna is fastest?
Bought Taigun in 2021 when it was launched, barring initial known niggles love the car even now. Drives well, both ride and handling is superior. Built well safety wise compared to segment options. Test drove all the cars in the segment and this was the only car in my budget that time with torque converter and a great 1L engine. The service experience has been overall positive spares and service cost wise. The technical knowledge to fix issues in one visit needs to improve. I still have one issue that I have been twice in the Service center to fix, it keeps coming back. Other than that, super car mechanically, just need to improve problems that can happen and may be a more plush interior for prospective customers. Overall service turnaround can be made faster as well. VW has a feature called see online your VW getting serviced but no service centers actually offers that on the ground. Keep improving. Thanks
I love it when they don't bring features/facilities to the table just because someone else does it. If you take Polo as an example, its target audience is aimed right at youngsters who would like performance, and the driving feel. He/She would buy it as the first car in his/her 20s, do some tweaks and retrofits around it. Later during his/her 30s, it would serve as a good utilitarian for a nuclear family (dad, mom and the kid) in the big city where everything is cramped. The moment when their children grow up is when the car will be left in the garage/sold out to someone. This timeline would span around 10-15 years, and this car is more than good to suffice that time period. Getting support for that product even after 10-15 years from them is an EXCLUSIVE feature. You have a 2010 polo/vento, you walk right into a VW outlet needing a part, you get that part without any mishaps. Couldn't say the same about other brands, when the salesman promotes the new products in the name of features/updates just because my car's indicator bulb is not the same spec as new standards. In addition, they should bring the ICE versions of MPVs, commercial vehicles, Vans, pickups. A short look on their history about Ferdinand's strategy can make them stay in India for a prolonged time, heck they might even stay in India if they could directly compete with other brands. Remember this VW, your target audience already exists, and you just need to acknowledge them and provide! You cannot feed everyone with the same spoon, but just focus on your own recipe. Just cook it!

@@sk-dr8zu can you share the cost and experience?

For small component failure in injection, they replaced the entire casting, which is absolutely not necessary, costed my brother 75K, for 8 months old skoda slavia, which is same for all cars from Volkswagen and skoda like vitrus tiagun slavia

Mr Ashish Gupta, one suggestion give virtus engine guard or splash guard for protection.
Ecellent Interview ..i am German car fan and owned a Polo and a Jetta … now considering a TAIGUN…. so i have a few quest
1) why not allow the customers choice of customisation on the interiors …i never liked fabric and always have used the leatherette ….but VW only 1.5 GT line has that, when asked the VW downtown Mumbai dealer, told me it is possible but not advisable…abroad VW allows customisation to whatever one wants
2) The interior of the Taigun , just below the roof the material is not solid v flimsy, they need to address that in a INR 2mn car
3) Would also request VW to come up with a small car…
I like this man ! Such a clear cut communication. Ashish ji uses perfect words n sentences to present VW ideology. Leaders should be like him. I feel like listening to him for long ! That enhances my respect towards VW. ❤ Great talk Evo !
Thanks Nilesh
We need a direct person, preferably Ashish who can respond to customer queries and not a standard template answer from VW India handle.
R u mad to even expect him to come answer your questions!
@@sukeshrock4065 didn't Skoda do it with Zac? If they can why not VW? So do you accept standard template from VW when your car is facing issues and no one to resolve your issue? Who will take responsibility for Customer hue and cry?

VW, in my view, is stay put and will NEVER think of moving out of India. They have fantastic line-up of premium cars for premium people. VW is NOT for all. At least I will say with conviction that out of all the 14 automakers with 52 brands, VW stands out as my choice. I am proud owner of VW POLO GT TSI and my next car is also from this German automobile giant.
However and as a suggestion, I beg VW not to compromise on certain trivial aspects for the Indian Market.
They should give every feature and demand the price it deserves. Best wishes VW
Hattsoff to EVO India for bringing in Ashish on the podcost in a right time.

Exciting news: VW's journey continues in India! Can't wait to see what's next. 🇮🇳.
Suggestion/perspective (absolutely ignore if not relevant ): Remember to take the time to acknowledge responses from guests, even if time is limited. This could involve saying something positive or offering a comment, or simply pausing to acknowledge their input. It's important to show that you're actively listening, rather than just firing off questions.
Really wish VW group bring in their 2l TSI cars such as Jetta. Other than Tiguan and Kodiaq, for enthusiasts above 1.5l we have only luxury brands.
I wanna buy your Polo.

DQ200 transmission has 2 separate oil chambers. You need to fill 2 different kinds of fluid in these chambers.
@@panzer3279 I was told that there is no oil change necessary and that it is sealed for life.
@@panzer3279have you done any modes in it like ecu remap I'm planing to buy the slavia 1.5 dsg but little concerned about the dsg reliability
34:25 Vw, skoda needs diesel engine, Then people will get more options. Safety+ powerfull engine 🔥
Liked this guy..he's giving us update on new models and future plans..

The service quality needs to be seriously upgraded, i love my Taigun GT, but wouldn't buy another car from them for the service experience

Pune?
I am from Pune and never faced any issue using vento from last 7years.
Germans need a huge market and only India fits the bill except China would be gone in few years, only India will remain. There's absolutely no chance of VW leaving India and even if they leave they will come back after like 2 years just like Ford.

So please use your best judgement as a brand!
whats about the VW & Mahindra collaboration or handover to the latter rumours ?

Nice podcast Mr Ashish and Sirish . Vw ❤

Thanks for such an informative video. Also, i would like to know if there will be any GTI coming to india? Like the POLO GTI or GOLF ??
Glad you enjoyed watching it. As of now, a GTi is not in the works for VW India.
@@evoIndia sad. So we have to live with the old GTI.
I want to lead Volkswagen team for India, I can surely increase their market share in Indian market.

As a current-gen TSI Tiguan owner that is sad to hear. First the fantastic Octy and now Tiggy gone :(
Will VW & skoda allow cng in there cars like honda ..
Great interview..🎉
Thanks!
They need a car under 10 lakhs to cater first time buyers. Otherwise it’s hard to survive in the Indian market. I was so lucky to have a polo GT.

VW cars are better than any other car for middle class. Their build quality and driving experience is exemplary. Proud owner of Polo.😊😊
You think 1.0 L is enough for taigun comfortline?
Bring back POLO. Plz
