  • Land Rover may have embarked on something of fool’s errand by borrowing a less-than-successful idea from Nissan.

    A well executed example of a bad idea. We'll be seeing plenty of these in L.A....

    I bet somebody in Florida is going to get one of these and put some 32" gold rims on it.

    Say what you want but this convertible will be huge hit. The difference between this and other coupe convertibles is just 15cm in height.

    I don't care what anyone says, I love everything about it, if you are seriously off roading in the Grand canyon, Glacier Lake, or any of the national parks in Utah, there is absolutely nothing better in the world than to have a top down with this awesome SUV that can climb a fucking mountain!!! seriously I found most people who don't like itbspend most of their time indoors, it's like everyone in the modern era has become house cats, quite tragic really. Please go outside and get off the internet once in a while!!!

    I think this car is primarily designed for the Middle Eastern market, less for the US and not really for Europe, which I think explains some of the incredulous reactions from the car journalists.

    if people accept coupe suv from bmw and mercedes and a racing cum suv from porche
    then why not a convertible suv from LR

  • @damieg82
    @damieg82 8 лет назад

    I think it's a inaccurate to say Land Rover borrowed this concept from Nissan. A roofless SUV is not a new idea! It's anyone's guess who came out with it first (perhaps the Willy's Jeep), but there have been roofless versions of Land Rovers (Defenders and even Range Rover Classic), Toyota Land Cruisers, Nissan Patrols, and lets not forget the Ford Bronco among others. This Evoque Convertible is just a modern interpretation of an otherwise very old vehicle body style. So copycat of Nissan Murano, I think not!

      +Alex Chavez my bad, I meant 4 x 4 as in like 4 x 4 low and hi. but I guess AWD is good, but only its actually like Subaru, not like shitty pretender AWD. And 240 hp from a 2 liter turbo? Why not just put a big v6 or straight 6 or something? for 50k? ugh.

    • @alexchavez6203
      @alexchavez6203 8 лет назад

      +2583060 Yea but I doubt the people driving it around the city top down will ever go off road and need more power

    if I drive this car, Im not afraid of raining when top down, I m not afraid of offroading and luxury. I m only afraid that people see me driving will come punch me in my face because it is too damn ugly and make everyone including myself wanna punch whoever is driving one.

    MSRP starting at 51K? It'll look super ugly. BUT HEY! With all the features you can waste ANOTHER 24K and get black rims and a black paint job!
    This car is more expensive than a Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and Camaro, the Ford Explorer, Expedition and F150, the Cadillac CTS sedan, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, hell, you can get a Mercedes E, GLC or SLK for this!

    • @spencerwilton8876
      @spencerwilton8876 8 лет назад

      You're comparing a luxury status symbol to a bunch of cheap and nasty runabouts, with the possible exception of the mercedes. But this is as luxurious and comfortable as the mercedes, and probably as well made, unlike the american junk, so why shouldn't it cost as much? They have already sold out of the first 2 years production, so must be doing something right!

    • @jobic4207
      @jobic4207 8 лет назад

      +Spencer Wilton Are you serious? "Nasty runabouts"? Anti-American you are, yeah. And BTW Land Rovers are so expensive because they aren't exactly "mass-produced". Not very normal to have an SUV cost you 200K...
      So next time, maybe think before you speak and try to respect other countries.

  • @waldenhouse
    @waldenhouse 8 лет назад

    2.0Ltr ?? That's just NOT suitable for long range driving in the US or Canada. Don't be fooled!

    • @spencerwilton8876
      @spencerwilton8876 8 лет назад

      Of course it is. Small efficient engines have been the norm in Europe for decades. The US has lagged behind with huge, lazy and inefficient engines because fuel is cheap. There is no reason why a well serviced small engine should not last as long. Anyway this vehicle is really only going to appeal to smart city dwellers and is unlikely to be used as a workhorse.

    • @mercedescl
      @mercedescl 8 лет назад

      +Spencer Wilton High capacity NA engine offers better fuel economy than small turbo in North America because of the low octane fuel. Smaller turbo engines may please the EPA testing, but turbo takes time to warm and consistent throttle to achieve maximum efficiency, which are rarely the case in the real world of stop and go traffic.
