I noticed your gummy bears in the video before the kids raided them and they made me laugh! :) This was helpful! I make portfolios for our assessments in Florida. I try to do this twice a year so that it is not left to the end of the year. It is always easier if I take some time to pull and file during Christmas break rather than leave it to the end of the school year! I love your file folder system!!

That’s is such a fantastic idea! I may try that during my next new year’s clean out. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the encouragement and great ideas for making this process as simple as it could be. One question, do you have your children look through their folder before the evaluations so they are familiar with what is in it?

Yep! I should have mentioned this in the video, but before I make their portfolios I ask them what they liked most about the school year, what their favorite projects/papers were, etc. This helps me to decide what to keep/let go of.

Amen to child free clean outs!!! I feel like I’ve somehow given birth to hoarders 🤣😂 I need them to be out of the room or even the house, lol

my kids are the opposite and wanna throw away everything! So I sneak a few things and they laugh at things like previous art skills when they look back at previous years 😂

How do you find an evaluator? I’m in FL too but wouldn’t even know where to look.

How would u go about doing this if they’re doing an online course? Do you just print some assignments or print their full curriculum with grades? My state doesn’t require it, but it’s suggested to do it. He’s in 8th grade and it’s our first year. I want to make sure I’m keeping things prepared thru out the year. Your channel has been so helpful!

What do you do with all the gather round work?

I kept a few lessons/worksheets from each unit that we covered. I also added all of the books we read and extra activities to my “extra credit” lists.
