Yes we year round! This year we’re working straight through the summer then taking sept and part of October off because I’m due in the beginning of September. Love the flexibility of year round!
Great video! My husband’s job has him working, and often away, all summer, so we prefer to be off when his schedule is more relaxed so that we can travel and spend time together. What I’m always surprised by, though, is how much push back we get about schooling in the summer!!!
Well said! We've begun to homeschool more year round... when the government holidays are on, it's more of a light study load - as you said, what does school really look like? We like a simple read-aloud time in the mornings plus a morning basket of language arts work, it anchors the day nicely and it can have a leisurely feel about it. Thanks for pointing out ALL those advantages - many I hadn't considered before.
Love how you matched your top to the colors in the background ❤ and I really love how you decorated your house! So cozy and pretty! You're so pretty as well 💕
I feel liberated so much!! Here in El Paso the summers are sooo hot !! Makes no sense and not good for the kids so have them inside all summer to sit and watch tv or whatever! Thank you
Omg we do this and we didn’t know it was called year-around ! Lol we didn’t even know it was a thing 🤣 we are doing school all COVID until it’s 100% over and then lots of outdoor without worrying about school
Thanks for the video! This will be our first year of schooling year round (after 12 years of home teaching). We are starting the first week of July and planning a 6 week on, 2 week off schedule. My husband is a lineman so he’s called away often which means we rely heavily on his vacation time when he’s guaranteed to be home or vacationing with with us. I think it will be a good fit for our family too!
We are year round. We tend to go light in the summer. We didn’t really have a planned schedule last year we just took off when we needed it. But it was harder to get my kids back into the groove. I’m going to try 3 weeks on 1 week off this year. But that can change when we need to adjust (homeschooling moto. Lol) I have one question for you. How did your older kids adjust from doing traditional school schedule to year round? Was it a difficult adjustment? Attitudes? Lack of motivation? I am excited I found your channel. We use most of the same curriculums which is not easy to come by!
For the most part they did great. A predictable routine and regularly scheduled breaks has actually helped with their motivation to do school (they just expect it daily, and know a week off is probably just around the corner).... BUT... my oldest son sometimes struggles when neighborhood public school friends are outside playing and he has to do school.
I think there are benefits of year round homeschoolers. But I sometimes need a break. I homeschool my grandkids. My daughter would prefer year round. I’ve done some subjects through the summer at times.
My high schoolers, who work part time and participate in extracurriculars, sometimes catch up on assignments/reading over the weekends. Just depends on the week.
Are you a year-round homeschooler? What is your favorite part of year-round schooling?
I love how relaxed yet advanced my child is due to this method.
That’s awesome!
I don’t know if it’s working but we’re trying this out. We just started year two and had to take a break haha 😂 this mama is stressed out.
I can relate!!!!
Great video! Thank you!
We are trying it for the first time this year.
Hope it’s a great fit!
Thank you for this!

I love year round for every reason you explained in this video!!
Thanks Elaine!!!

I know right? People tend to give me strange looks when they hear we’re doing any type of schooling in the summer.

Thank you! I like how you said “it anchors the day” - so true!
Such a great idea!

Aww thank you! I just changed out our throw blankets & pillows. I love how it made such a big impact for such an easy change.

That sounds like a great plan

That sounds like a great plan. I’m considering something similar for us next year.

I started last September homeschooling year round not knowing it was a thing lol it's so much better 😅

do you do school on the weekends?
