Work is a record I’ve sat with and listened to multiple times. It didn’t click as hard as owls did for me the first time I heard it. That’s changed after revisits. It’s my favorite record of 2021 by a long shot now. Bravo. You guys should tour with the band Dvne by the way.
exact same dude! I was a bit surprised by the sound of the album and I feel that in the end my first listen I wasn't actually ready for it. I can not get enough of it now.
F**k i feel old watching this. My first metal band started in 1989 and my last metal band ended in 2002, I was in a stoner rock band till 2008 and other bands sprinkled throughout. It's crazy to look back from 1983 hearing Metallica for the first time and saying I'm gunna do that, to today saying I don't think I can do that anymore. It's impressive to see how metal has grown over the years, well done guys.🤘
Owls introduced me to Rivers, and It was one of my favorite albums for a few years, i never thought it'd be topped. I really, really like The Work, in a way i didnt think i ever could. Its so much more dynamic, compositionally and emotionally for me. I can't listen to any one song, without playing the whole album front to back. Truly a masterpiece. Take care of yourselves guys.
I didn't discover this band until this album but I'm so glad I did because they have become a top 5 band for me in such a short amount of time. I love the stories they tell, the music, everything is always just spot on.
@@relightthespiral I stumbled upon Owls last year or so randomly. I recall hearing that sax solo for the first time and thinking 'oh this band is damn tasty'.
That’s crazy because everyone was talking about where owls know my name, but hey that’s so bad ass that your listening to them now. I absolutely love the work and really hope that I get to see them play some of there new songs soon.
@@sataniccannibal I know but I'm not a big death metal or tech death fan, I listen to like 1 other tech death band called irreversible mechanism and that's it so I kinda missed the boat until I heard clean or focus, whichever came out first as a single and was like oh, I need to check this band out.
I cried with this... This is beautiful... The Work is done... Now to show the world.. winter is the most difficult but at the end, there is always spring...
12:49 one of the realest and most vulnerable moments I’ve seen from any person in any band. This is a feeling that I can deeply relate to, and sometimes it doesn’t feel like that will ever go away. 2020 was a motherfucker, and ever since then it all just feels like it’s getting worse and more uncertain with each passing day. If only I could know all the shit I was taking for granted.
I had Jake on the podcast to discuss this and their previous record. These guys are incredible! Love how they're pushing the limits of the genre with their experimentation.
Hells yes always love the docs. And I know exactly how it goes where I’m from it’s either the mines or leave. This hits a lot closer now. Gives hope to a lot of us that have to go through that too. Keep crushing it guys can’t wait to see y’all live. 🤘😁🖤
Loved watching this , not gonna lie wish it was an hour. Those shots where the night sky was illuminating the scene were killer . Cheers on the videography , editing and just keeping it real. BC
Have so much love and respect for ‘The Work.’ Figuratively and literally. Such a beautiful album Front to Back. Thanks for sharing this side of ‘The Work.’ That most people don’t realize go into creating an album. Especially during such a dark time.
Work is life and life is bitter and sweet. Take the good with the bad and make the best of it. Always remember it’s okay to have off days and to feel sad or exhausted, we are only human. Love this band and their music, the work that went into this album shows and is appreciated. Love these guys.
I'll admit that I didn't understand this album when I first listened to it. But the more I sit on it, and the more I revisit it months down the road, the more powerful an experience it becomes.
Works is awesome. U guys have hit this 1 out of the park and it was a great follow-up to owls. The way the album was written takes the listener on an emotional journey with nice artistic bridges to transform from mania to depression to melloncollie to acceptance and its just great
I've been listening to these guys since the conscious seed of light and they get better with each record but this one was a keep forward. I've been waiting for a metal band to write a record like this for a long time and I had no idea it would be Rivers of Nihil that would do it.
This is incredible. You guys are so amazing together. Biggs you really, really put your heart into this and I can't thank you enough for it. I will never take this music for granted so once again thank y'all for blessing all of us with this masterpiece.
Just bought limited vinyl of Owls (for me album of the year 2018, released on my birthday!) and now this documentary! Great I was lucky to see you in Poland!
All of the sound FX really add a ton to the record! I really wish more bands would get creative in this way. Might suggest some of this to bands that I talk to.
Such a good band, I love this album. Every single member is an absolute beast. Can’t wait to see you live again! Discovered you guys with WOKMN at a super pivotal broken stage of my life. You gave sound to my emptiness and loss, the dying of times. The Work came out and hit me very much the same at another heavy crossroads, between failure and hope hinging on consistency and work to make it. Can’t do much to express my gratitude and admiration but I hope y’all can feel the wholeness and hope you provide by expressing yourselves and pushing through. Much love. 🙏🏼
I lived in Bethlehem PA, Phillipsburg NJ, and Kutztown PA my whole life and esp as of late I lived really close to Reading PA when I was in Kutztown PA so Its so cool they're from a city that was 20-30 mins away from me.
I still have this album in constant rotation. It's everything I wanted it to be and I cannot even imagine what the next album will look like after this masterpiece.
This album didn't click with me at all in the beginning but by now it's probably my favorite of the band. Owls got me instantly, the moment the sax kicked in, but this one really took half a year to work.
I remember being like 14 years old watching Brody and that " Biggs " dude who looked like George fisher playing in brodys basement and then seeing you guys play at the silo in reading one time. It was literally like forever ago but it was sick and you guys are fucking awesome. Love your music man. Keep doing awesome shit.
Thank your for sharing this. The Work is one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s perfection. I get chills every time I listen to the Void From Which No Sound Escapes. I can’t imagine what it was like for a band during COVID. Can’t wait to see you in Seattle in May!
First album I ever heard from these guys was Conscious Seed of Light and I fell in love with their sound. Now a few years later I really believe The Work is their best album to date. They really went above and beyond for this album and it shines through every song.
"I was just sitting the wrong way, sometimes you gotta sit a different way" when they're talking about posture while playing guitar its the fucking truth its crazy how much that affects your playability and range
These last couple of years have been difficult. I think we have more difficult years to come. We can make it through. Remember to put good karma into the world and chase your purpose.
This record solidified me in the conviction that Adam Biggs might be, albeit hella obscure, the most brilliant lyricist of modern day. The topics he touches upon just speak about this fundamental concept - that if you strip a human from friendship, love, faith, compassion, success and all other earthly stuff, there's this last inherent thing that separates us from complete nothingness - The Work. This album is painfully good. I don't listen to it too often as it just hurts your brain, but it's definitely one of those albums you need to hear to become a complete human being.
I saw 'em in NJ for the first time a few months ago and was confused as to why they weren't right before the headliners, TBDM. I'll be seeing them real soon in Philly May 8th... it's gonna be GREAT. "The Work" was really unbelievable...
I must admit I wasn't such a fan of The Work when it was first released. Following Owls was a tough task, and felt like you came a little short after the first few listens. I set it aside for a couple months and picked it back lately. For me, it is definitely a grower and easily on par with Owls. A great modern prog metal album that has its own signature and unique sound. Looking forward for your upcoming releases gentlemen!
Is that a Black Crown Intiate hat Jake is wearing @18:54? I can't wait to see you guys in May here in Portland, OR. The Work really gives me the goose nipples and I can't believe how beautiful art it is. I love listening to Maybe One Day, I could listen to the last minute of that song with the guitar and synth on loop forever. I lost my best friend to a tragic accident last year (2021) that just wiped him out of existence, I started to struggle with my job (trauma delay) during the Fall/Winter but this record slipped in and helped me put in the work. I fail to find words for how much I appreciate your music. Thank you so much!
i thought i read somewhere that one of the members of this band has like a brother of brother in law in black crown initiate and thats why one of the dudes from that band is in the where owls video
I listened to this album once before, I feel like I need to revisit it. Because on first listen I didn't like it nearly as much as I liked Owls. I'll give it another listen.
“Recording during a pandemic and after a weird election.” That’s one way to put it! I love you guys, you don’t seem to succumb to every stupid hashtag movement like others and you seem believe in the idea of a meritocracy……you put in the work and I appreciate you for it.
Dude I bought this album on CD an I'm bout to re buy it the album was amazing an should be up there an should be the record of the year or at least be up there in my own opinion.
Super cool. They seem like dudes I can relate to, so maybe that's why The Work really resonated with me. In fact, I shall listen to it again right now.
Such a killer album! Love the artwork too (as I do all their covers, Seagrave is a legend). Got the flag on my wall. You guys were awesome on the Black Dahlia tour as well. I like BDM but you guys were the reason I went.
Work is a record I’ve sat with and listened to multiple times. It didn’t click as hard as owls did for me the first time I heard it. That’s changed after revisits. It’s my favorite record of 2021 by a long shot now. Bravo. You guys should tour with the band Dvne by the way.
Same! Owls was immediately striking, the work took some time to understand and I’m glad I took the time
exact same dude! I was a bit surprised by the sound of the album and I feel that in the end my first listen I wasn't actually ready for it. I can not get enough of it now.

Same here. Only became a fan like a year ago. Love their whole catalogue

Album is a masterpiece ✨️ Saxophone is a plus and used in all the right places.
The best band out there right now. The effort is not unnoticed.

They deserve all the attention they are getting and so much more really. Its like listening to heavy Pink Floyd. Keep killing it boys. 🤘
Good that you bring Pink Floyd up! I thought of that band, even though they don't sound similar they have a similar overal vibe.
I thought of the same exact thing when I first heard this record. It’s a vibe.
I loved this album so much. Surreal dark realism at its finest
My top album of the last year for sure
Work is life and life is bitter and sweet. Take the good with the bad and make the best of it. Always remember it’s okay to have off days and to feel sad or exhausted, we are only human. Love this band and their music, the work that went into this album shows and is appreciated. Love these guys.
Thanks for this. The themes were clear, but I love the additional context
God damn... hearing you guys get deeper into The Work just makes me appreciate the album so much more.Thank you guys.
I'll admit that I didn't understand this album when I first listened to it. But the more I sit on it, and the more I revisit it months down the road, the more powerful an experience it becomes.
Jared is so fucking good. His backing vocals on Focus are absolutely insane
So heartworming to see Jared in a Beyond Creation T. Obscure big brain artists supporting each other, yay!
Works is awesome. U guys have hit this 1 out of the park and it was a great follow-up to owls. The way the album was written takes the listener on an emotional journey with nice artistic bridges to transform from mania to depression to melloncollie to acceptance and its just great
As someone from PA and only about an hours drive away from Reading, it is exactly how it's described in the beginning.
Met a few of these guys before as I am also from Reading PA. You are doing us proud boys !!
I've been listening to these guys since the conscious seed of light and they get better with each record but this one was a keep forward. I've been waiting for a metal band to write a record like this for a long time and I had no idea it would be Rivers of Nihil that would do it.

So happy for my fellow PA natives. Saw them live in Pitt and they delivered. Can't wait to see them with BCi.
I ❤️ this album, and this video.

I am privileged to have shared drinks with the band and got amazing memories in Nebraska. Please come back. The Bourbon theater in Lincoln awaits you
Ironically this and owls are my fav albums to listen to at WORK. I feel like the vibe is perfect for it.
I lived in Bethlehem PA, Phillipsburg NJ, and Kutztown PA my whole life and esp as of late I lived really close to Reading PA when I was in Kutztown PA so Its so cool they're from a city that was 20-30 mins away from me.
Absolutely fantastic album
Thanks for sharing this and taking the time to do it. Pumped to see you guys on this tour
I still have this album in constant rotation. It's everything I wanted it to be and I cannot even imagine what the next album will look like after this masterpiece.
Wow this was emotional. Excellent work, all of you.
This album didn't click with me at all in the beginning but by now it's probably my favorite of the band. Owls got me instantly, the moment the sax kicked in, but this one really took half a year to work.
The saxophone is some of my favorite shit in these songs. All of it is too notch but the sax adds so much flavor and soul
Each one of you is extremely talented and the combination makes the ultimate music experience. Rivers of nihil, best metal band of this generation
This added to my love for this band and album, to a point I didn’t think was possible.

I just discovered Rivers of Nihil a couple of months ago. Appreciate this album greatly.
Cool to learn the meaning behind the album title, the whole album has that bittersweet vibe like life I guess
The Work is amazing, really hits home!
This album took a while to click for me, but I love it so much after listening to it multiple times and really digesting it.
Aw fuck yeah! No time right now but definitely watching this, no other album has impacted me as deeply as The Work in a very long time.
Really nice doc. Always great to see what the process is for album and this album is one of the best in a year!
The Tower is my favorite track - love the intro
"I was just sitting the wrong way, sometimes you gotta sit a different way"
when they're talking about posture while playing guitar its the fucking truth its crazy how much that affects your playability and range
These last couple of years have been difficult. I think we have more difficult years to come. We can make it through. Remember to put good karma into the world and chase your purpose.
Glad you can represent on Terrestria, love the lyrics Adam, and Brody is one of the best leads out there
As somebody from Lancaster PA. I understand that hopelessness.
This record solidified me in the conviction that Adam Biggs might be, albeit hella obscure, the most brilliant lyricist of modern day. saw you dudes a few years back with Revocation and Exhumed, great show and I can't wait for another chance to see you all live

Great piece of filming and well put together, just what this magnificent band deserve!
this made me feel feelings. and i complained out loud when it was over, because it was too short.

these guys did The Work, they literally did it
Super cool. They seem like dudes I can relate to, so maybe that's why The Work really resonated with me. In fact, I shall listen to it again right now.
Hermosas personas, monstruosos músicos, la banda en The Work podría ser el Pink Floyd del death metal, abrazos desde Argentina. 👺🤘
Greetings from Reading brothers!!! 😎 👍
I hope more of these get made
thank you. seriously.
My man Brody repping Conjurer! Good to see real recognising real
Hard not to love these guys :)
I want to see a tour with BTBAM!
5:26 You can just press "P" and then "/", it's easier then clicking through the menus.
Good looking out. Thanks.
Amazing mike did an amazing job 👏👏👏👏
Holy moly the legendary spacegodzilla toy
Short. But very sweet.
13:26 “yanodaimsayinduu?”
Such a killer album! Love the artwork too (as I do all their covers, Seagrave is a legend). Got the flag on my wall. You guys were awesome on the Black Dahlia tour as well. I like BDM but you guys were the reason I went.
My favorite album of the year so far
bro it came out last year
did not know there was a new album... why??? this is a problem!! owls consumed months of my life contemplating reality!
That teal backlight though
This band can do no wrong.
Fucking wet blanket man.
I do dig this record though.
❤❤
Top five metal bands out there that’s saying something for me
This moistened my Thursday.
Is Adam wearing a Knoebels shirt?? 🤘🏼🤘🏼
It's still so weird to think these guys are from Reading. Crazy.
"Some Kind of Rivers of Nihil"
♥️
Fuck yes.
I LOVE THIS AND I LOVE RIVERS FOR ALL OF TIME NO ONE CAN STOP ME FROM LOVING THESE GENTLEMENT AS MUCH AS ME
great band. and ofcource so anderrated (
Moar Sax!
Reading is kinda slow lol. I go up there sometimes to get away from the big city
