This is some definition of "blows up" that I was previously unaware of. I didn't know just falling on the ground is blowing up. And the cameraman continuing to do his job during an epileptic seizure is to be commended.
I, too, was skeptical at first; as when I think of pine trees, my brain automatically thinks of the traditional Christmas Tree shape. But google "scotch pine" - some varieties do tend to have more upward facing branches. (also the way the dead branches shattered when they hit the ground is roughly consistent with a dead softwood.)
I'm wondering what y'all are talking about the bark is pine bark there's some pine needles not on this tree but right next to it with the same shape tree this looks like most pines here in the south. It could be a longleaf, shortleaf, loblolly, or Georgia pine. It looks like loblolly pine to me, without a better shot of the needles, it's jard for me to say for sure.
This exact same thing happened to me. I bid $400 on a dead tree with a smaller trunk, butt more branches. Depressed because i thought i underbid, when i dropped it on asphault, everything 4inches or less disintigrated just like that. Customer kept the wood, i had about 12 garbage cans filled high because the waste was so light. 2 hours i was driving off job, $400 cash in pocket, when i projected 8. I will never forget the positive decompression i felt, when i realized i saved 5-6 hours.
The Pine tree died because ants drilled holes in it to get the sap to leak out. The ants then take the sap to their Queen for food. Try using Boric Acid powder around the roots and on any anthills in the area to kill the ants before they kill all of your trees. Sincerely, Happy

The 1930's sounding truck idling for no reason while operating an electric over hydraulic winch is bona-fide arborist. I do like how the tree skipped the wood chipper stage all on its own. Now they got enough spare wood to make a tripod! Teamwork
A neighbors pine tree actually did explode when it was struck by lightning. Another neighbor saw the tree get struck, explode and the top of the tree landed on the roof of her house, the fire department was called and one of the firemen said the sap in pine trees is similar to kerosene and that's what caused it to explode.
Thanks for the sane comment that is on course with the subject matter. I can’t get why everyone seems to be gripped with the shaking camera syndrome in this video. I mean a comment or two but it goes on and on and on 😢
I came to the comments to see all the loggers yell at each other about the proper way to tell a tree. The cameraman is the first person to ever stop that from happening.
Lol.... I'm not going to yell at anyone, but... his wedge cut isn't deep enough, and his back cut is to low. Should have been an inch or so above the flat part of his wedge cut. Good on the guy pulling to not let off and allow slack. Other than that it was a fairly straight tree, so things worked out. Oh and props to the cameraman😂
I have known a few life long loggers that got killed when cutting trees. The tree will sometimes jump back on them, it’s awful. So when I see someone felling a tree it makes me worry. The shaking camera was the least of my worries. Those guys pulled that off like pros. Maybe they were because it all worked out perfectly. The tree cutter is safe and so is the house and everyone else❤
