These creeks are so beautiful. If choose a small creek over the ocean or a huge river every day. It’s so intimate and relaxing, you notice the small details of your environment and it’s almost like your own little world, rather than a place you’re sharing with thousands of other people around you.
I love the fact that you are showing you do not have to have 10,000 dollars in gear and only catch monsters to have fun! That looks like a great place to take a kiddo fishing!
Coosa bass are super fun. My son and I fish creeks in North Alabama and have an absolute ball! Especially during the hot summers, we just take a dip when it's too warm.
We got this type of lil bass called a warmouth bass down here in jax, fl., they're fun to catch on spinners along the banks of local lakes and ponds. I had never seen one before until a few years ago when I caught one going for largemouth. Happy hunting!
@@driventoaccount3276 Ive only seen those further south In some of the clearer spring type rivers and creeks. But, yes they are in Florida, I just havent caught any in my area of northeast florida.

man that's the truth. I hate those things, they get all 3 in that tiny little mouth every time. I've thought about switching the trebles out to a barbless hook for that reason when bluegill are likely to get on the line.
I love the simplicity and "purity" of this. Excellent. I live in NW WISCONSIN and use to fish a river with night crawlers and artificial salamanders, throwing upstream and retrieving towards me. I caught everything from carp, smallmouth and muskies. All with a shackspere ugly stick medium action. Reel was a low end shamano. Not a lot of frills but a lot of fun. Goes to show you don't need a bass boat with a 200hp motor to enjoy the sport.

I sometimes get poison ivy bad . Not bad enough to keep me outta the woods though . Ticks are thick in the spring . When it gets hot it's the skeeters & gnats are the worst of the pests .

Absolute magic! I really enjoyed this episode. This proves how clean & fertile this small stream is. It can be the best type of fast action you can get with rod and reel. I live in the UK, with similar locations that have: brown trout, minnows, rudd, perch, chubb along with some other species such as gudgeon & maybe loach. The best type of fishing for your children and sometimes also us big kids. It makes a change from hooking into monsters. Many thanks to you for sharing.

I remember when I lived in Canada as a kid I would always go fishing in the creeks and springs and stuff and it was beautiful and I also catch little trout and stuff but even if I didn't catch anything or see any fish to try to catch in the creeks it will still beautiful just walking all the creeks when I lived in Canada. I would catch lots of beautiful trout, red breasted sun fish, small miuth bass , large mouth bass, and catfish all in the creek that ran through the little town called powassan ontario right outside of northbay ontario and man it was a beautiful small little 2 stop light town with a beautiful creek that ran through the whole town and lots of great deep holes and little ponds thaats was connected to the creek filled with fish and a few small waterfalls as well to fish and i also kyaked the creek alot as well
Nothing beats creek fishing! Small gear and a great excuse to walk around under the shade, no boats or heavy equipment to worry about, just wade and cast and reel them in.

I used to carry a hand pruner and even a small saw in my vest. It was usually to cut my way through when I was getting off the river and B-lining it to the road. One thing that I could not stand was any type of prickly vegetation, briars, brambles, nettles stinging my legs.
I have flyfished streams that small (maybe smaller) in the sierra nevadas for little golden trout... reminds me of the small streams I also fished in the Texas hill country
Creek fishing is great because a lot of that water you fish in is virtually untapped. Those fish have been allowed to stay healthy and they’re very strong for their size. I love all fishin but wading through the creeks is by far the most enjoyable to me. God bless
Just noticed your channel a few weeks ago. 30 yrs ago I did the same thing I see you do. Ultralight rod, 4lb test, I would use the Rapala teeny craw and other Rapala tiny baits and have loads of fun in small creeks in N. GA. I'm not sure if it is the same thing as the Coosa Bass but we caught what we called Red-Eyed Bass. The body looked very similar to the Coosa you caught in the video but the coloring was more brown with a red spot close to their eyes. Enjoying your videos!!
I only do ultralight fishing, I love only putting a small tackle box in a pocket and a tiny rod with 6 pound test line. I never get tired of pulling out 4 pound rainbow trout as long as my arm from a creek no wider than 6 feet. The salmon are extra fun on ultralight gear, feels like your fighting a shark.
I haven’t caught a coosa bass yet. I don’t think they’re native to the creeks around my neck of the woods. I like how you’re still using that classic intro.

We have a lot of small creeks with native trout. If you get one big enough to keep and eat they are unbelievaly great tasting fish. So dark pink and red meat instead of the white meat in stocked trout. It is so hard to catch the native. You have to sneak up on them and if they see anything out of the ordinary they are gone. Hard fishing but worthit if you can get to the right creeks.
Ive done this. Caught some no bigger than a finger. Parr marks. Here in central Maryland, we have blue gill, sun fish, red eye bass and largemouth. Very few smallies.
Nice video, John. All those briers took me back many many moons ago. Was in fort chaffee arkansas doing night 12 man (squad) recon. The briers tore my uniform pretty good. 🙉
I know and fish that creek all the time. Some great fishing in these urban creeks in North Georgia. I have walked that creek from I75 to the Consauga river multiple times and recognize the stops where you caught fish! I walk miles of creek her in Gordon and Whitfield counties and there are absolutely tons of relatively unfished creeks that are loaded with quality sunfish and creek bass. That creek literally runs through town and an industrial park for almost a mile and the fishing is excellent from the interstate all the way to where it empties into the Consauga.
That particular stream is loaded with Coosa bass. As you get a little closer to where the stream dumps into the Consauga river there are more spotted bass with some decent sized ones for a stream of that size. I've caught some decent Coosa bass in there around 12 - 13" and some spotted bass farther downstream close to 2 pounds. There are lots of redbreast and green sunfish in that creek. Let me know and I can give you some areas in Gordon and Whitfield counties that are untouched and contain great populations of sunfish and native bass.
The fishing in that creek actually gets better farther down stream from where you are fishing. About a mile down stream the fishing is phenomenal and about another mile beyond that it gets even better. I sometimes get a little spooked where you are fishing behind the church there and I always carry a hand gun on my person too because there are some folks living in tents down there sometimes. They have always been very pleasant but you never know when fishing some of the streams who you might encounter. Despite occasionally seeing some homeless folks living near the streams or under the overpasses, I have never encountered another fisherman in the stream despite the countless miles of creeks that I walk each month.
Sometimes small Creeks hold some nice size fish. My friend didn't want to go fishing so I took his brother. I caught the bait in the riffles crawdads we then caught a 15" small mouth. Smallest luv crawdads. I still use worms though. So many specie's luv worms. 🎣 Good Luck - may God Bless.

Love your channel. Subscribed a few weeks ago. The locations you fish with the close forests and shallow creeks is exactly what I would love to explore in my area. I'd be more apt to do so if I wasn't a deer fly, horse fly and mosquito magnet. I don't know what it is about me (shower at least once a day sometimes twice) but within 30 seconds of exiting my pickup they are on me. Keeping me away from these types of places that I'd love to spend a couple hours each day after work enjoying. :( Living vicariously through your videos.
This type of video is exactly what I like about your youtube channel. I tend to get a little bored with the bass fishing out of a kayak as it gets too repetitive. I like seeing the different varieties that you catch in the creeks and in the everglades. I'm sure I'm in the minority when it comes to bass fishing but tromping around in a small creek, or a roadside ditch or an urban creek is more interesting and adventurous to me. I hope you get back a little more to your original concept. Anyways, keep up the good work! God Bless..
This is my kind of fishing. I grew up fishing in the little creek near my home. I don't even want to go fishing for trophy sized fish. I like pan sized fish of most any kind.
Did the same thing today with the crickhopper caught some sunfish and a bass good day for me mediocre for you but still fun in a small stream ain't nothing like crick fishing with a crickhopper
Wow, I've never seen that fish... What is it a Coosa Bass. I can't believe I've never heard of these before. What a fish. So they are in the Sunfish family and not a real Bass. Is that how you understand it? Not to mention it's much cooler under the trees along a creek than out in the scorching sun on a lake or even a pond. Thanks great video.
It's a Redeye Bass (Micropterus coosae) they're an upland species of black bass native to the Coosa River drainage-some anglers call them 'Coosa bass'.
Once when I was a kid I was fishing a overgrown stream like this with worms. My line got caught in the brush & my bait was hanging 10” or more from the water, while I was trying to get it clear one of the biggest Bluegill ever jumped up and grabbed my bait. I’ll never forget that monster boiling out of the water !!!
Your lucky I got a creek few minutes from my house packed with 3-4 pound bass ..... long story short it used to be my go to spot an now it full or crackheads 😔
Small waters fishing is a lot of fun and a good place to go, to get away from people. Most folk just don't understand what you can do, with ultralight gear. 😁✌🖖
Man catching small fish is more fun than catching big ones. I would take a few poles when I went to the lake etc. Set two with a weight and some chicken liver rigged a little off the bottom then a small one with a tiny hook and some worms for some bluegill action.

I was doing the same thing yesterday and I'm back at it tomorrow. The creeks are where it's at!!
When going through heavy brush, if you trail your rod behind you, you won't have to worry about snagging brush or possible breaking a tip.
The universal rule about bluegill: If you're using a treble lure they'll get all three hooks inside the mouth.
And that’s what treble hooks are illegal where I live

2:24. I was doing that last Saturday. Came home with three ticks on me and now I have poison ivy. But it was worth it.

I lived by the Coosa River when I lived in Alabama. There is some amazing fishing on the Coosa.

I sometimes get a little spooked where you are fishing behind the church there and I always carry a hand gun on my person too because there are some folks living in tents down there sometimes. They have always been very pleasant but you never know when fishing some of the streams who you might encounter. Despite occasionally seeing some homeless folks living near the streams or under the overpasses, I have never encountered another fisherman in the stream despite the countless miles of creeks that I walk each month.

Sometimes small Creeks hold some nice size fish. My friend didn't want to go fishing so I took his brother. I caught the bait in the riffles crawdads we then caught a 15" small mouth. Smallest luv crawdads. I still use worms though. So many specie's luv worms. 🎣 Good Luck - may God Bless.

These spots BUT I have Two or Three creeks big enough to use the Bass Raider in for floats Plus The 3 Rivers That Are Subject to Low Water levels During Summer Months , Plastic Craws Paddletails, Big Beetle Spins and Creek Bass ,it's a Buncha fun no Doubt , Keep It Reelin 🦈🎣👀
Love your channel. Subscribed a few weeks ago. The locations you fish with the close forests and shallow creeks is exactly what I would love to explore in my area. I'd be more apt to do so if I wasn't a deer fly, horse fly and mosquito magnet. I don't know what it is about me (shower at least once a day sometimes twice) but within 30 seconds of exiting my pickup they are on me. Keeping me away from these types of places that I'd love to spend a couple hours each day after work enjoying. :( Living vicariously through your videos.

This type of video is exactly what I like about your youtube channel. I tend to get a little bored with the bass fishing out of a kayak as it gets too repetitive. I like seeing the different varieties that you catch in the creeks and in the everglades. I'm sure I'm in the minority when it comes to bass fishing but tromping around in a small creek, or a roadside ditch or an urban creek is more interesting and adventurous to me. I hope you get back a little more to your original concept. Anyways, keep up the good work! God Bless..
This is my kind of fishing. I grew up fishing in the little creek near my home. I don't even want to go fishing for trophy sized fish. I like pan sized fish of most any kind.
First I've heard of the Coosa Bass. They are gorgeous. May need to add that to the aquarium.

Did the same thing today with the crickhopper caught some sunfish and a bass good day for me mediocre for you but still fun in a small stream ain't nothing like crick fishing with a crickhopper
Wow, I've never seen that fish... What is it a Coosa Bass. I can't believe I've never heard of these before. What a fish. So they are in the Sunfish family and not a real Bass. Is that how you understand it? Not to mention it's much cooler under the trees along a creek than out in the scorching sun on a lake or even a pond. Thanks great video.
It's a Redeye Bass (Micropterus coosae) they're an upland species of black bass native to the Coosa River drainage-some anglers call them 'Coosa bass'.
I used to love creek fishing. Just a wedding ring and a couple worms. Good to go all day! 👍👍🤘🤘
Once when I was a kid I was fishing a overgrown stream like this with worms. My line got caught in the brush & my bait was hanging 10” or more from the water, while I was trying to get it clear one of the biggest Bluegill ever jumped up and grabbed my bait. I’ll never forget that monster boiling out of the water !!!

Your lucky I got a creek few minutes from my house packed with 3-4 pound bass ..... long story short it used to be my go to spot an now it full or crackheads 😔

Small waters fishing is a lot of fun and a good place to go, to get away from people.

Man catching small fish is more fun than catching big ones. I would take a few poles when I went to the lake etc. Set two with a weight and some chicken liver rigged a little off the bottom then a small one with a tiny hook and some worms for some bluegill action.
man I have a creek in the woods in my backyard I would've never guessed fish would've been in there thats crazy! it turns into a ranging river when it rains good though
