I’ve gained so much understanding and doubts answered just by watching your videos. You presented these info in a light hearted and enjoyable way to watch. I hope you will become viral so that more people can benefit from the advice that you are giving. Lots of love and keep educating us on how to protect our skin..🙌🏼

The Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser has been my only cleanser since I discovered it four years ago when I went on a course of isotretinoin for my adult acne. That, the LRP Toleriane Ultra, and Colorescience SPF are my holy grail ride-or-die products. Really loving your content so far; so happy I discovered your channel!
I am a 68 year old male on a fixed income, and I have fallen in love with Bioderma products, there micellar water, sensibo gel cleanser , their Sensibo regular and rich moisturizer, they are a little more expensive, but what a difference!
Love that you lowered your voice to say 'I don't have cracked heels, but my husband does' as though he won't ever know you've shared that detail with the world. 😅 Thanks for all the great recommendations, Dr Ellis. My sensitive, redness prone skin will very much appreciate it. 😊
The LRP Toleriane Ultra Creme is the best moisturiser ever. I have dry skin in the cold months and it is great for that but it is also amazing during the summer when my skin is more balanced/normal.
First time listening to your channel and really impressed with your delivery and helpful information on drugstore products and why they are holy grail. My budget is definitely drugstore so I appreciate this video so much!
I love this head to toe approach! Excited to find a few new things to try. I would recommend the Jack Black lip balms with spf 25. They are the only lip sunscreen product I have tried where the sunscreen is completely undetectable-no taste or smell, and no white cast because of the filters used.
I love the Banana Boat so much that I use it, often, on my FACE. If I'm going out, I follow it with a tinted product (or foundation) and I'm thrilled to say that it does not affect the look of the cosmetic products I layer on top. This way I can save the more expensive face sunscreens for when I need an elegant formulation to wear by itself or go under makeup that I'll be wearing for hours and/or be photographed in.
I just commented on the Banana Boat light as air, because I love the face sunscreen. It's the only American sunscreen that works for my oily face. But it's strange that no one talks about it. And I think because of that, it's getting harder to find. They no longer sell at Walgreens (at least not where I live) they only sell the body version, which I think might essentially be the same thing. I can only find it at Walmart or CVS. Someone once commented to me that it's because Banana Boat isn't reliable or broad spectrum. But the face one says broad spectrum. So idk what the problem is but I love it and am scared they might stop selling it because no one acknowledges it.
@@Kay2be2mr I use the one for "body" on my face with no issues. And I buy online-Walmart, Target, Amazon. Try a bit of it, every other day or so, and see if your facial skin tolerates it?
I use panoxyl, amlactin, CeraVe healing ointment and kerasal. Love them all! I use panoxyl to wash my armpits, as I prefer to avoid antiperspirants. It doesn’t stop the sweating but truly helps it from smelling!
I’ve been wanting to try it for my armpits , do you find that it bleaches your towels or clothes ? Some people say it bleaches their towels and even pillow cases when using it as a face wash… so I’ve been hesitant.
@@DianaJP23 if I may add my 2 cents I have wrecked a couple of towels even though I only use it on the shower and rinse well so I cleanse with a gentle foam cleanser after.
CVS often has LRP on sale, coupons, discount, $ back. Same with Olay. Same with other products you mention Just don't be "afraid" of LRP because of cost.

Another great video Dr. Ellis! I have never tried any of those products and am excited to try some of them!!! Love that you give us easy accessible drugstore options!

It also might be a good choice for people who don't like CeraVe PM, but want something with ceramides.

I appreciate your reassurance about aluminum deodorant. I used natural deodorant for six years and just recently switched back to aluminum because I started a new job and the stress B.O. that came with it could not vibe with the natural deodorant, lol. My mom had breast cancer when I was a kid so I was afraid to use aluminum deodorant but never actually looked into the research myself until recently. 😊
I was loving this video until she said that :( My husband is also a dr and he has mixed feelings on antiperspirant. If nothing else, rotate non aluminum deodorant (i LOVE schmidt's charcoal deodorant)and antiperspirant if need be. Just my two cents , well my husband's haha. But I know more mds that think like that also. I guess it's a situation of going with your gut.
I just listened to a doctor and I don't remember which one, the said selenium a micronutrient, it's the best thing to ward off breast cancer. I just found a deodorant the brand is Ecopresence. Works really well on my eczema. Ammeliorate body lotion fragrance free - lactic acid body cream available here in the UK Here in the UK we have a limited selection of cereve (cereve creams burn/sting my facial skin, although the hydrating cleanser is ok) and we don't have Vanicream or Amlactin. The French pharmacy brands like LRP, Avene, Vichy are readily available and more affordable here. Best wishes.
Just discovered Dr. Sam Ellis tonight and I am so impressed with her “bedside demeanor”. I learned a lot about foot care as well as drugstore skincare. I have been using Vanicream cleanser and moisturizer for my face and a body cream and really like them. I first heard about Vanicream from a dermatologist on the Today show maybe a year ago or so. Great and really affordable products! Will be trying several products mentioned in the drugstore skin care video, very helpful.
Fantastic video and info as always! The Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 is my all time favorite product. I buy it at Costco when it goes on sale two for $45. Even that price may be a lot for those on a tight budget, but a little goes a long way and the results come quickly and are very satisfying.
I love my Olay Retinol. It is on the pricey side for a drug store product BUT.... if you have a Sam's, Costco, etc. you can buy two jars for the price of one!
I love the Panoxyl creamy wash! I have eczema flare ups on my underarms, and if I try to remove the hair in any way, I will develop folliculitus. Panoxyl has saved my underarms.
Good recs, I have used many of these for years, even the Burt Bees. 👍🏼 My current faves are the CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser and the CeraVe PM moisturizer because of the ceramides plus niacinamide, if you can tolerate that. It does wonders for my rosacea. I wake up with less redness and clearer looking skin. 🌸 But I understand the love for Vanicream products. Thank you for this topic. There is no need to spend more any more than this on skincare. I do, however, splurge on my SPF with EltaMD products and Paula’s Choice Resist👌🏼 The LRP Toleriane Ultra is on my list to try 😊
Oh my... I will need to watch this video many times to absorb all this wonderful and useful info. As I listen each time I find a use for all of these products for my family members. We do see our Doctors regularly and have some prescriptions for our skin issues . However simple washes and sunscreens as well as lip and body moisturizer's are not usually a topic. Some of these products are multiple use so we shall be doing some shopping and see what works for us. Thanks in advance
In Australia we don't have the Banana Boat Light As Air but we have the Dry Balance which sounds like the same thing - it just disappears into skin with no shine
What a great, informative video. While it’s fun to splurge on higher end items, drugstore items are my staple. Thank you for your recommendations and please continue to create videos that are beneficial to most people. A drugstore hair product review would be awesome.
Great suggestion. I haven’t had much luck with higher end products like Olaplex, Philosphy, etc and it’s either the scent is too heavy or the formula is drying on my already dry hair. The reviews of Function of Beauty at Target are not good. I don’t know what to try anymore.
I love Differin! I've learned so much from these videos. I just wish RUclips had been around when I was in college and had no idea how to care for my skin.
I love, love, love Vanicream! I have very sensitive skin so my dermatologist recommended it to me. At the time I had moderate acne (or whatever the worst is, I get mild and moderate confused). Vanicream is my holy grail and I know it doesn’t make me breakout! I love how it is also fragrance free and doesn’t sting the skin!
First off, you remind me of Angie, “Hot & Flashy”….a younger version. She’s amazing and gorgeous. So are you. I will be purchasing the face wash for my granddaughter. I appreciate your suggestions and will be picking up a few items.
In Australia we have QV Face….really inexpensive and available at every pharmacy, my dermatologist suggested it for my sensitive skin and it’s life changing for my skin, we don’t have Vanicream in Australia but QV is probably our equivalent.
BB Red Dahlia has been my fave since it came out…I give it to everyone and it always becomes their fave too…THE perfect lip balm! Growing up my fave was Clinique Black Cherry , but Dahlia is better. Agree on the Banana Boat…THE best for neck down!
@@yukiaa. yes! The vanicream cleanser is actually a light foaming cleanser so you get an amazing clean without over stripping. It’s not hydrating it’s just a basic cleanser that cleans well. Plus they have an amazing facial moisturizer which is super light but packs a punch. I would definitely recommend trying it. They carry it at most targets so if it doesn’t work out for you just keep your receipt and they accept opened and used cosmetics if you find they don’t work for you!
I keep looking at the Milani primer that’s the SPF (in a yellow pump bottle) and I was wondering about your opinions on MORE makeup options…especially at the drugstore. I so appreciate you taking the time for these videos, I can’t afford a dermatologist right now and I’m learning SO much!
Thanks so much for the wealth of information…I wish my skin could look half as good as your’s. I am going to try some of your suggestions for sure. Thanks again Dr.Ellis.
I very much enjoyed and appreciate you sharing your knowledge! I look forward to trying out quite a few of your recommendations. You do us a real service here! Thank you!
I love Vanicream and my daughter does now as well. We use the cleanser and facial moisturizer and I use the body cream in the Winter. Never tried the lotion though. May have to. And we use Differin. I use that Red Dahlia Burts Bees everyday.
It doesn’t get better than the Vanicream Antiperspirant! My underarms are so easily irritated, and that stuff is all I can tolerate…Even after shaving, it does not sting!! Hallelujah!
Dr Ellis, I've been using Adapalene Differin Gel for 1.5 years now. It does not help with my melasma, not even a bit. I have not seen any difference with my wrinkles either. I religiously use sunscreen even indoors, re-apply every 2 hours. Always wear a big hat when I go out. I will abondone Differin gel now. I cannot get RetinA where I live. I will try Retinol cream.
I am also using the Burt's Bees chapstick, Cerave healing ointment, and vanicream moisturizer. I guess I am a true fan lol Also these are all holy grails of mine now as well so Dr. Ellis definitely knows what she's talking about!
I’m a nurse in an ASC and have to wear a mask every day. I’m getting cheek acne ever since starting the ASC job. I feel like maybe it isn’t bacterial acne since most of the red bumps don’t have white heads. Any affordable recommendations besides not wearing a mask since it’s required?
Can you do drugstore or Whole foods video on natural ingredients on skin and body products I love using the scents of Mother Nature than chemical synthetic scents. Thank u
Thank you so much for all the information you share through this channel, I have some questions about kids! I have 3 girls, 13-11-7 y/o and I don’t know which products are better for their skin, which sunblocks are the best and at what age they should start making a skincare routine… I know this is a lot but any help will be great, since I am starting to learn for myself
Thanks for these great recommendations! Do you have another recommendation for a tinted lip balm? I allergic to the Burt's bees one and all bee products. Finding lip balm has been difficult.
I love Vanicream as well. And that cleanser is the best. I like the kerasal too occasionally. I even bought these silicone heel sleeves bc I found-even w socks-the grease gets everywhere 😂 I just get dry heels, but my sister gets the cracked heels, so I got her some & she really likes it
I Love the Burt’s Bees 🐝 lip balm!! 🙏🏻Would you please do a video for products (drug store) and skincare routines for *Preteens with acne because of puberty.
PanOxyl in the morning. Then SPF. Differin gel at night (start just 1-2 nights a week) after cleansing with a gentle cleanser, followed by a moisturizer. My go-to preteen acne regimen.
Very informative!! My dermatologist recommends Cerave, Cetaphil, Vanicream and ROC products, and Dove. I have rosacea and very sensitive skin and aging skin.
I love the light as air sunscreen for the face but I'm suspicious as to why no one talks about it. Yes it has fragrance, which is not ideal, but the finish is so beautiful for us with oily skin. It's the only American sunscreen I've found that works for my oily skin, not to mention drugstore. But someone once commented that no one acknowledges Banana Boat because it's supposedly not broad spectrum or that they're claiming things that might not be true and therefore the protection might not be as good. I'd like for someone to shed light on that since I can't seem to find any information online about it. All I know is that the light as air says broad spectrum.💁🏻♀️
Thank you for sharing your great information really helps would love to know if your ever going to do a video on sensitive skin foundation ideas to wear yours looks great or would you mind sharing what you wear ?
Dr. Ellis… thanks a lot for your videos!! When a watch your videos I’m feel that I’m in a master class of skincare!!! 🥰 A few questions: - I’m using RetinAl of Avène, so, have I to avoid moisturizer with retinol after (in The same routine)? - I have two teenagers (13 and 16 years old) with moderate acne and a lot blackheads, and texture. Can they use azelaic acid additionally to adapalene? Muchas gracias anticipadas!! 🙏🏼❤️
After years of using expensive moisturizers I decided to give the La Roche Posay moisturizer a try after watching this video and I have been pleasantly surprised at how great it is! My skin has never looked better and I haven’t broken out even though I have acne-prone skin. I love that it serves as an eye cream as well. Thank you! I absolutely love watching your videos. Quick question - can I use the Kerasal foot cream while breastfeeding?
I stopped using antiperspirant a few years ago. Switched to Native deodorant. No stink, and I just returned from Florida in August 😄 and it held up, and didn’t sweat that much either. I think they have some ingredients That adsorb sweat?
Really great video!! Thank you for the recommendations. We love a lot of the same products. I'm a dry, sensitive skin girl as well 💜 my whole family uses the 10% benzoyl peroxide bodywash. I like using the equate brand because it's just a little cheaper. I just saw today that Walgreens has an off brand of the 4% creamy wash. Now that I've seen you rave about it, I'm going to go out and get it for my teenager 😊 I love vanicreams face wash and anti-perspirant . I don't wear makeup most of the time, but I do wear a lot of waterproof tinted mineral sunscreen, and I find that I can remove it effectively with the vanicream cleanser alone. I just have to use a liberal amount and take my time. Also, wiping my face off with a clean soft cloth, when I've massaged all of the cleanser into my skin, literally takes off about 90% of my sunscreen. Then the rest comes off quite easily after rinsing off. I really love their face lotion as well, but surprisingly the only face lotion that never ever gives me irritation is the equate hyaluronic acid lotion (it's the generic of the CeraVe. But even the CeraVe gives me problems). I really love the Light As Air, I just wish that it had a fragrance-free option. I use mineral on my face, but like you I prefer chemical for my body so it doesn't transfer to my clothes. Unfortunately the Light As Air made my neck irritated. But it could be because I've been using a retinol on my neck. So I've been using the eucerin SPF 30 body cream. It's not as high of an SPF, but it's so moisturizing and calming. I heard another dermatologist give a tip for those that might be sensitive to aluminum, but still want to use antiperspirant products. She said to try putting it on at night, and then wiping it off in the morning. That way contact with the skin is minimized, but the aluminum still has time to trickle down and do its job. What do you think about this?

I love using Olay Retinol for my neck as it can’t tolerate my tretinoin. Big fan of your videos, keep’em coming 😉
Fantastic video and info as always! The Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 is my all time favorite product. I buy it at Costco when it goes on sale two for $45. Even that price may be a lot for those on a tight budget, but a little goes a long way and the results come quickly and are very satisfying.
Ah yes I forgot to mention that Olay is at Costco too! I do find that a single tub lasts a long time.
Great tip!
I love my Olay Retinol. It is on the pricey side for a drug store product BUT.... if you have a Sam's, Costco, etc. you can buy two jars for the price of one!
I tried the Banana Boat Light As Air bc of this video and I love it! I wear it on my face and its excellent.
I’m so happy I found your channel. It’s a pleasure watching it!
Aw thank you so much! Welcome!
That cleanser is also amazing! I hadn’t tried it until recently but I love it too
First time on your channel Dr and loving it .
Love this list! Have used many of these products for years but learned a few new ones. Thanks again.
Wish we had it here in australia
First off, you remind me of Angie, “Hot & Flashy”….a younger version. She’s amazing and gorgeous. So are you. I will be purchasing the face wash for my granddaughter. I appreciate your suggestions and will be picking up a few items.
I use some of these products and I thank you for all of your information!
In Australia we have QV Face….really inexpensive and available at every pharmacy, my dermatologist suggested it for my sensitive skin and it’s life changing for my skin, we don’t have Vanicream in Australia but QV is probably our equivalent.
Even better is the plain QV body cream - my face loves it and it's all you need for a moisturiser
Great video👍. How about a mineral sunscreen & a fragrance free deodorant. I don't have issues sweating, but don't like the smell.
Australian gold SPF 50 tinted face sunscreen the best💕
BB Red Dahlia has been my fave since it came out…I give it to everyone and it always becomes their fave too…THE perfect lip balm! Growing up my fave was Clinique Black Cherry , but Dahlia is better. Agree on the Banana Boat…THE best for neck down!
I love all your videos, I have a fragrance allergy, I like that you include , fragrance Free products
Burts Bees Tinted Lip Balm is the goat… it’s the “🐝 knees” and I love the red dahlia color, it’s my favorite
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 AGREE
CVS has a great copy of the panoxyl, often on sale & sometimes a little larger
Differin also has a good spf
Thanks!! I didn’t know that.
Vanicream is a lifesaver for my rosacea sensitive skin. Most things burn and sting but vanicream is the best!
Huge fan!
Same. I also have rosacea. Vanicream works for this skin condition. Cerave burns. LRP burns. 😔 I can use Avene but they’re expensive.
Is vanicream good for sensitive combination skin?
@@yukiaa.
@@AlyH89 thank you :)
Hallelujah!
I am so glad I found your channel!! Keep the videos coming.
You’re really informative. Keep your content going Dr. glad I found you!
Thank you so much for sharing reasonably priced skincare with us!
Yaaaaas the Cerave Healing Ointment saved my skin while using Tretinoin. Love that product so much!
I am also using the Burt's Bees chapstick, Cerave healing ointment, and vanicream moisturizer. I guess I am a true fan lol Also these are all holy grails of mine now as well so Dr. Ellis definitely knows what she's talking about!
Thank you so much, I’m new to skincare and your presentation was amazing!
What a fantastic video. I took pictures of the products I will be getting tomorrow. Thank you!
Once you try them let me know what you think! 🙂
Ooooo That sunscreen sounds like exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks for the recommendation. 😸
I’m a nurse in an ASC and have to wear a mask every day. I’m getting cheek acne ever since starting the ASC job. I feel like maybe it isn’t bacterial acne since most of the red bumps don’t have white heads. Any affordable recommendations besides not wearing a mask since it’s required?
that is my absolute favorite sunscreen ever! i have to convince my bf to use sunscreen, and that got him to start using it more often
Thank you for this video!!! A question/myth I have it. - Is it true that tretinoin can increase hair growth on the face?
I use nivea nourishing skin firming q10 vitamin C, AND PLUS THEIR SHOW MOISTURIZER THEY GO GREAT TOGETHER MY SKIN IS SOFT AND BRIGHT ALLL THE TIME
Can you do drugstore or Whole foods video on natural ingredients on skin and body products I love using the scents of Mother Nature than chemical synthetic scents. Thank u
Can you do a holy grail for mature women in their 60's & 70's. Dry skin
50s too please
I even bought these silicone heel sleeves bc I found-even w socks-the grease gets everywhere 😂 I just get dry heels, but my sister gets the cracked heels, so I got her some & she really likes it
You are everything Dr. Ellis!!!!
I would love to see your recommendations of drugstore face SPF to use under makeup? Thanks!
Dr.Ellis, Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate it!! You are awesome.
Very informative!! My dermatologist recommends Cerave, Cetaphil, Vanicream and ROC products, and Dove. I have rosacea and very sensitive skin and aging skin.
Ivermectin 4 horses helps get rid of rosacea. Also makes the virus go away
This is so great! I was just looking for the best skincare products, thank you so much for doing this.
I bought the Burts Bee tinted lip balm and it's awesome. I'm gonna buy the Kerasal ointment next. Thanks for the recommendations!
So happy you like it too!
Lovely video! I have been using that BB lip balm in Red Dahlia for years. Love it! All of these products are great. Thank you!
A few questions:
- I’m using RetinAl of Avène, so, have I to avoid moisturizer with retinol after (in The same routine)?
- I have two teenagers (13 and 16 years old) with moderate acne and a lot blackheads, and texture. Can they use azelaic acid additionally to adapalene?
Muchas gracias anticipadas!! 🙏🏼❤️
@Shia Knows Best thanks a lot for your kind answer!!! Very helpful 🥰🥰
I have lots of sensitivities and you have been the only person that has mentioned them so thank you I know feel like I’m not going crazy 😜
You are amazing! its so calming listen to you
Such a compliment. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I have wanted to try the vanicream line but didn't know if it was good.
Love Red Dahlia! Reminds me of Clinique's Black Honey.
Love Clinique’s Black Honey! Would you consider Red Dahlia to be a good dupe for that?
Dr. Sam what do you think about Differin for anti-aging? Is it a possible replacement for tretinoin?
I got the Nivea lotion and love it!
I've been wanting to try that nivia for body lotion
All great suggestions doc. Thanks. I love the more severe approach of dermatologists. Surgeons are always crazier....
Thank you soo much! Going to get my hubby the foot cream, and request you do some skincare products for men-hair, face mainly? Thanks.
Now that I've seen you rave about it, I'm going to go out and get it for my teenager 😊
I love vanicreams face wash and anti-perspirant .
