777 wing goes 18 feet before the spar snaps......... think about this, that wing supports all the freight, fuel, people, landing gear, engine weight......... everything and then is subjected to atmospheric forces as well so you want to know just how much it can take so it never gets close to that point,,,,,, hence determining your usefull load

These static tests are done for one aircraft cell. The data is needed for certification of the aircraft type. Later each individual plane is testflown by the manufacturer to test all functions and than mostly flown a second time by the customer just before delivery.

    • @Michallote

For each new aircraft they do these tests on a few aircraft. To obtain certifications, then every aircraft is static and flight tested only. For example the structural tests are not performed on each aircraft

Albeit there was that JetBlue incident, to which was quickly addressed and hasn’t happened a second time. Oh and back to Boeing, they then proceed to fire the employees that point out these quality issues cuz that’s the best solution *clearly*. Oh and then airline customers now have to inspect built aircraft cuz apparently said customers can’t trust a company to build a plane that’s safe with that amount of money? Oh and another funny thing to mention was the 787 and their door problems 😬. I used to be a Boeing fan because imo they had very safe plane, until the 737 accidents and then add some other which I now have lost all hope for them.
