- On December 12, 2019, at approximately 1028 hours, I was on scene with an accident that occurred on I-75/85 northbound near Pryor Street, on the left shoulder. I observed another accident that occurred in the seventh lane from the median wall between a red Chevrolet GMT C1500 pickup truck and a white Ford Transit van. The front of the red Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck struck the rear of the white Ford Transit. I observed the driver of the red pickup get back into the vehicle and leave the scene. I got back into my patrol car and attempted to catch up to the red pickup truck. Once I got behind the vehicle with my emergency lights and siren activated, the driver refused to stop and began driving erratically. The driver exited the interstate at Exit 245 and traveled through a red light at the intersection of Washington Street SW and Ormond Street SW. The driver continued east on Ormond Street SW and traveled through another red light at the intersection of Ormand Street SW and Hank Aaron Driver SE. After the driver traveled through the second red light, he continued traveling east on Ormond Street SW, a one-way road, in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. As the driver approached the intersection of Ormond Street SE and Grant Street SE, he vastly reduced the speed of the vehicle. I advised the driver to pull over, using my intercom. The driver then attempted to turn right onto Grant Street SE, a one-way road. Due to the driver's blatant disregard fro public safety, I attempted to terminate the pursuit by performing a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) by striking the right rear fender of the pickup truck with the front of my patrol car as it was making a right turn onto Grant Street SE which is a one-way road. After the front of my patrol car made contact with the pickup truck, it overcorrected and struck two parked vehicles, with its front. The pickup truck then swerved left and made slight contact with the right front fender of my patrol car.
The driver then continued traveling south on Grant Street SE, in the opposite direction. As the vehicle traveled south there was a heavy cloud of white smoke emitting from its front due to the impact. It appeared that the vehicle was no longer safe to drive. As the driver got to the intersection of Grant Street SE and Grant Circle SE, it attempted to turn left onto Grant Circle where there was a school of children was playing in a gated yard approximately 200 feet east of the intersection, on the north shoulder. As the vehicle was turning left onto Grant Circle SE, I attempted to PIT the vehicle by striking the left rear fender of the pickup truck with the front of my patrol car in an attempt to terminate the pursuit. The vehicle became disabled on the north shoulder of Grant Circle SE against a telephone pole.
I exited my patrol car and aimed my Glock 45 handgun at the driver and gave him loud verbal commands to get out of the vehicle. Once the driver got out of the vehicle, I ordered him to lay on the ground where I placed him under arrest. I sat the driver in the back seat of my patrol car. I asked the driver for his name and date of birth. He advised that his name was Alvin Person, date of birth
/ /1988. I checked Mr. Person’s name and date of birth through GCIC which showed that he was unlicensed with active suspensions. EMS arrived on scene to check on Mr. Person, but he refused medical treatment.
I was advised by Atlanta Police Officers that the vehicle Mr. Person was driving had been reported stolen earlier in the day out of East Point. Shortly after two East Point Police Department police officers arrived on the scene, S. Taylor and B. Lalock. Mr. Person was turned over to the East Point police officers for charges related to theft by taking. The officers also advised me they had chased the truck twice earlier that day. The pickup truck was turned over to Buckhead Towing. I obtained warrants related to the pursuit from the Fulton County Magistrate Court.
Man that cop did an amazing job, noticing the stolen truck, getting in the chase immediately, and apprehending the suspect. great work.
Talk about aware of surroundings
Took him only about 4 minutes from when he was talking to the women to when he put the guy in his cruiser. Props.
he didnt know the truck was stolen until after the pursuit, read the description.
@@ihavenoideadanny whatever, he dodged traffic, helped two ladies with their accident, noticed another minor accident nearby, and how the participants reacted to it, then he did all the rest. Equally as impressive.
I will 😢"Top notch awareness" for a thousand Alex.
That trooper deserves an A+ for "switching gears"! Great response; he was on the perp's ass within seconds!
He didn’t have to switch gears, most cars are automatic nowadays
@@OFFICIALBROTHERBOLDLYMUSIC He/she meant diverting their attention..in case you weren't being sarcastic
@@eddieperez8111 I was diverting your attention, bc I was being sarcastic lol
well played... @@OFFICIALBROTHERBOLDLYMUSIC
@@eddieperez8111 lol thanks 😂
Hell of a day for this trooper! Awesome, and thank you for keeping us safe!
A hearty thank you to Trooper Maye for gettin' the job done. Keep those kiddies safe. I think watching one of these a day is good for the soul.
Trooper Maye is an awesome gentleman! Great job, Sir! 🇺🇸💙🖤
I hope someone was able to assist those two ladies, especially in that scary little area.
He would be liable if they became injured
I'm pretty sure this is the trooper that pulled me over a couple of years ago on I-75 for doing 81 in a 55 and gave me a written warning for going 69 in a 55. Great guy.
Yeah, he got me once too. I got a healthy ticket, but as fast as I was going, he could have taken me to jail.🤣
@@christopherlee5584😅😅😅😅
I had a sergeant out of Charlie Brown Airport give me a verbal on a 20 over near Kennesaw State. I think he was cool about it because I pulled over before he had his blue lights on. We both knew I F'ed up.
The ladies from the first accident: "What happened?"
Notice the back plate? Navy Vanity plate; either one of the ladies served or one of them is a Dependa (or both? Things CAN be weird in Navy Dependent circles...)
Oh man it hurt seeing that OBS step side Chevy getting busted up... Even as a Ford guy that hurts.... My sincerest apologies to the owner, you had a beautiful ol' girl. 😔🙏🏻
The whole time I was sad for that stepside too. I always loved the 91 stepside shape for some reason...
Beautiful truck
Was gonna comment the same thing! Beautiful OBS😢
Felt, can't find clean stepside obs out here in Illinois 🥲
The truck owner probably would of felt better if the theif ended up getting a dirt nap that he derserved
The whole question of "Why you chasing me?"... I'm just, I mean, I can't... I don't understand how anyone with more than 5 working brain cells even arrives at a question like that. I mean, are they trying to play innocent, or do they REALLY not know? It boggles my mind either way.
Bruh sound like every brain cell in buddy head is fried lol That Atlanta skunk weed gonna show it's hand every time
This cop clearly targeted this hard-working criminal because he was black.
CNN said this too!@@juanagudelo409
"with more than 5 working brain cells" - here we got the problem...
They had suspended the ability to do pursuits inside Atlanta under the previous mayor. Notice how APD suv didn’t even try to stop the the fleeing truck when they got off the highway.
Only been to Atlanta twice. Both times I white knuckled my way through! God bless the men and women who keep us safe.
You have to be a part time NASCAR driver to get through rush hour. I live here so it's second nature to me but I see plenty of out of state tags and the drivers seem almost paralyzed with being overwhelmed with bumper to bumper traffic, many lanes on the interstate, signs and roadwork. Gotta keep your eyes open and if you leave more than a 2 foot gap between your car and the one in front of you it's seen as an open invitation for someone to slide right in front of you.
Spaghetti Monster, please bless the people who keep us safe.
@@bill944Came through Atlanta on a motorcycle once. Never again.
@@ZCAR355 Can't say that I blame you. I retired my motorcycle 25 years ago after some close calls. That was before cell phones we so heavily used. There's no way I'd ride in today's environment.
It ain't the place for timid drivers, fer d@mn sure!
The trooper listening to Chief Keef at the beginning 😂😂 lol chefs kiss
I'm so glad to see that the GSP is now starting to release alot more of their videos like how Arkansas always does!
its not about them releasing, Its private people that have to request. You Arkansas fan boys just dont get how creator content gets made LOL.
It's the people on RUclips requesting the footage and doing the paperwork and uploading it, not the GSP,
They also have to pay for the videos, edit, comply with all rules and laws or get shut down.
Yea plus this is pretty old footage. Pre-pandemic stuff@@user-peach408
Great situational awarenes/surroundings by the officer. Got in the hunt quickly and got the thief with little drama. Great Blue 👍👌
After this video is reviewed at the State Police Barrack, I do believe Tropper Maye could have a new nickname amongst his fellow Troopers! "Hawkeye"!
Note the Torino with the Starsky and Hutch white swoosh! 2:39
Yes I did! I had Two Ford Elite's can't miss that!
That's not Torino with a swoosh. It's a striped tomato! (Yeah I'm old enough to have watched the original TV show back in the day. Lol)
I’m glad someone else noticed this and commented on it, I was about to add this comment myself ❤️😂
The mental acuity here……
LEO: “What’s up? Why did you run?”
Guy: “What’s he chasin’ me for?”
Wow😖
Right 👍 you can't be chased if you don't run.
Glad to see the worker got those little children inside the building asap.
said the same thing! good spot
Recess is cancelled! 😭
Same thing I said. Not only was the Trooper quick on the draw but so were the daycare workers. Good job all around!
That is a trooper cadet on FTO. Hasn't even graduated academy yet. Excellent driving and nice job ending the pursuit. 😎
If you know those shirts, you know! 😊 I was reading the comments to see if anyone picked up on that.
@@chriswebb335 Haha, I was doing the same thing!
The fact he was listening to Chief Keef before the chase, definitely knew he was going for the win 😂
Peeped that 🤣
Absolutely fantastic catch! If everybody in law enforcement were as eagle-eyed as Trooper Maye, our country would be a much safer place.
Amazing spot by the trooper. That lady looked confused tho 😂
He had already called it in. She probably figured it out shortly. 😎
The Starsky and Hutch car at 2:29 👀
* 2:39
@2:40
Did a great job. He brought this to an end quickly.
Ah, Atlanta…or as I like to call it, Eight Lanes Of Death 💀 🔥
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
3:49 AGAIN the usual suspect
Sooo we just going to ignore the fact that the cop was booming chief Keef in the squad car 😂😂😂😂😂
That is one bad ass cop. On a traffic stop and notices a stolen truck drive by. Catches and pits him. AWESOME job! thanks for sharing,
Absolutely fantastic job by this trooper! I'm seriously impressed by his attention to the surroundings and detail, quick action, skill, and professionalism. Outstanding work!
Quick and efficient. Great job, trooper Maye, congrats! 👏👏👏
Trooper Maye ain't taking any crap. No waiting just action. Good job trooper
That's some solid Heads Up action seeing that truck drive by and excellent driving and Pits. Very well done Trooper!!
Outstanding work. Give this man a raise!
Short and sweet and to the point!
Georgia should be proud of having that trooper. That was some excellent work.
2:38 "Now passing Starsky and Hutch!"
Awesome job, to this LEO, for his excellent pit performance on the moron perp. This country needs more great officers like you to help clean up the abundance of misfit drivers and law breakers out there. God Bless, Be Strong, and Stay Safe!! 💪💪💪
Trooper maye was all over him outstanding job brother.
Poor truck.
GSP Troopers make us proud.
Trooper has a keen sense of his surroundings for sure
looked like a clean squarebody
That’s not a square body, it’s an OBS. The last square body would’ve been in 1991.
When the door opened this came as a total surprise to me...
WE ALL KNOW WHO IS GOING TO CLIMB OUT BEFORE IT STARTS, NOTHING BUT TRASH...
Yeah, total surprise. Again no unusual suspect as usual. [sigh]
Trailer Park?
Finally an original clever comment that doesn’t sound like a broken record……
What can I do? The perps are the metaphorical broken record too...@@CascadeSlim0119
Perfect pit technique.
Another one✌️💯💪🏿💙. You don't have to post another GSP video because you already won. This is the only channel on RUclips that has this much GSP content. Bro, you gotta be a Trooper🤔😁🤷🏿💯💪🏿
LOL I love it. The two ladies are like here's out information for the wreck. Suddenly the officers goes, "Here take this back I got me a PIT I got to make" Zoom I'm outta here. LOL
Awesome job by Trooper Maye!
Talk about a Hawkeye Trooper, nice job sir
trooper playing chief keef 😂😂
A well documented pursuit that officer crosses his I's and dots his T's. A righteous arrest.
The cop was listening to chief keef in the beginiing lmao
Very gratifying to watch!
That was the craziest spots I've ever seen! Good eye!
ood for you Trooper., good for the owner will get his vehicle back good for the community with a bad guy behind bars. Bad that JUSTICE will probably not be served as the court system is broke in Atlanta.
It’s broke everywhere
Trooper S. Maye is a one man show, no backup needed. He has eyes in the back of his head and his ear to the ground. Like a Puma, he pounces on his prey fast because there was a daycare close by.
Hook the cuffs to a tow chain from the cruiser's rear bumper and drag him to jail. It will cut down on recidivism and deter others.
Great work by that teacher to round up all those school kids and get them safely inside so quickly.
the roll reversal in this was rather stark
Git' 'em, Boyzzz!
Good job to those adults herding those kids into the building just in case something happened. Doing their job well.
absolutely great job
That Trooper was having fun in that Hemi back then🫡
Great job Trooper Maye! Score one for the good guys!
Excellent job officer
Remind me never to run from the Georgia State Patrol.
Or Arkansas 😂
dont run from ANY cop ✌💖☮
I'm not sure if in the background after the pit if that's a school or daycare but, the adults where quickly getting the kids inside the building to keep them safe ! Hats off to them !
Lovin the content
Great job officer💪💪💪👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Glad the owner of the red pickup got his vehicle back, I'm sure those scratches will buff right out.
amazing job
Lady was like "Dafuq jus happened? I thought you was gonna...." 😆
Great job officer!
That trooper flipped the switch! We done sir.
No fuckin way that cop was listening to Faneto by Chief keef at the start lmfaooooo
I feel bad for the ladies that he stopped to help. But Trooper Maye must of chase this truck before. Trooper Maye but a end to this nonsense quickly.
Absolutely excellent police work by the GSP!!!
Can you get other cities? like macon & augusta bro. I know recently GSP got in a chase with a hellcat charger & stopped it in Augusta. keep up the videos.
Good job officer Patrol well done
I lived in south Atlanta for 5-6yrs in Forest Park. There's some crazy ass folks around there and the Clayton Co. jail is rough.
Great job by the trooper. Liked his handcuff abilities, again a great job.
I would like to see the all the charges on these felons. On these older ones how much prison time they got.
was pretty sure that type truck didn"t belong to that fella
Surprised to see Starsky & Hutch @ 2:39! 😁🤙
I love this cop!
Bro Pulled Up Playin' Faneto 😂
As soon as the cop dash cam activated the sound you can hear he was listening to Chief Keef lol
very good cop work
Cop was listening to Faneto before he pulled over 😂😂😂
bro playing Chief Keef as soon as the audio starts 😂😂😂😂
Man what a shame. Those step-side 88-98 Chevy trucks are cool and hard to find in decent shape anymore.
My first thought as well! 🤣
It was burning oil. The engine needed an overhaul, but probably not worth it now.
Well done Boys!
Great job! We love our troopers here in GA. This trooper is a little different from our normal ones. He's a part of the MCCD, Motor Carrier Compliance Division, a division of the GA Dept of Public Safety. He's still a trooper, but his focus is more on commercial vehicles and the regulations that go along with them, then regular pedestrian traffic. Still a trooper, just a different uniform and a cool car. 😊
Thanks for explaining. I was wondering about the difference in uniform.
I ain"t tryna go to Jail tho,Sir?
The trooper was fantastic. Hope the felon gets serious jail time.
Epic!
He was listening to chief Keef when he pulled up I ain’t stupid 😂😂😂
Ong faneto 🤣🤣🤣
Good work
NICE JOB!!!!
the engine on that truck was already shot anyways,, great job cop..
2:39 1976 Ford Gran Torino 'Starsky & Hutch' Custom , very Cool Car.
It's always a shame when the object of the theft is also the getaway car, it never stays undamaged.
12 was riding to the chief keef 😂😂 💯
Should B, if you run you lose ... 10 year suspension and 10,000.00 fine or jail
