Angry WW don't like a BW being cast as a WM love interest. If they had cast a blk actor to play Romeo alongside Francesca I don't think people especially WW would have cared so much. Much of the backlash stems from WW being angry at seeing themselves being replaced by a BW as a WM love interest. I bet if they had cast a whyte Juliet and a blk Romeo there wouldn't have been this much negativity.
People forget she started getting hate because neo nazis heard about the play and wanted to humiliate her. The play had to book a bigger venues because this wasn't meant to be a big deal, the racism from the neo nazis made it a big deal and attracted attention. In more normal times, this play wouldn't have gained any attention. Hollywood stars love doing this because stage acting is more difficult and they get to show their acting chops. She would HAVE to be more talented than the average movie actor to get this role. Its sad how little people care about talented, they just want to see the same IG face everywhere regardless if the person has the talent for the role. Theatres love casting women as men, colour blind casting etc so this is nothing new. A lot of times people throw out the " x person is trans" not because they think that but because they're trying to say something they deem as humiliating. Theatre acting is much more concerned about casting talented people vs. does this person dress like an instagram baddie ? Its hard getting up on a stage and acting your heart out under hot ass stage lights but these aren't people going to plays
I don’t really think it is because she don’t wear makeup tho. Juliet is seen as a conventional beauty whereas this girls isn’t. Black women can have keen, medium, deep or full features and just look like her aka average/ less than average. But yeah Timothy is as much average/les than, teeth, lips, eyebrows..😅
