I just saw a response time comparison between the original Retroshooter guns and this prototype RS3. The old guns have a sluggish 8ms drag. These new ones, before production, have a 1ms response time. Wicked!
@@theretroshootercould they ever work without sensors? ie, not this specific one but a future version? I love the hardware but having those sensors hanging is a hassle if one just want quick sessions or need it in a wall to play with a projector. I don't see any alternative to Sinden at for those scenarios
Gun4ir may have to adjust their price points soon. These new RS guns are about aa good and 3x cheaper. At the end of the day customers will mostly choose the RS.
When you get a new upload from WG&C its always Xmas,....... dude i do enjoy your uploads and defo recomended to any newwbies to check em out for all retro gear from the good the bad and very ugly. ive been looking at getting a CRT telly just for PS1 Time crisis etc but this led set up is a great alternative.( Also do like the Namco light gun the look and feel of it + many happy memories on PS1 ) dude i really like the rapid fire recoll function, i do think a Xmas present to my dad and myself for our man cave is definalty in order. Im really impressed with how the RS3 looks and works. ok did i miss the price ? great video dude 🙂Peace out from me and my Dog Max over in the UK

Great video as always! On their web page it says RS3 reaper supports Emulation Consoles, but no reference to which is compatible. I guess a Pandoras Box isnt with the ones who is compatible.
As I complete...ha ha ha...my retrobox, I was going to just pass on the light gun games. Nice review my guy...now I have to spend another x amount on this "cheap" retro machine that is spiraling out of control in scope and cost. Everyone needs a hobby I guess....

I have a 150" projection screen and would be shooting from about 96" away (from the tip of the RS3 to the screen). So, if testing on a 27" monitor, that would be equivalent of shooting from about 20" away. Thanks!
If they increased the recoil strength a bit then i wouldn't see a difference at all in quality over the gun4ir ones. That's about the only difference i see to those rpeg 900 dollar gun4ir namco guns.
how is the lag compared to the old school crt experience? I'm really tempted to buy these for a batocera build because of the gun recoil on these. Bu are sinden guns better regarding the gameplay lag?
@@WickedGamerCollector there are only 2 cycles of the light, 1st cycle is 1 color then the 2nd cycle is multi color led, so i dont think there is option to turn off the light
Why not? A docked Steam Deck is essentially just a computer hooked up to a monitor. You better have a decent dock though, since cheap docks introduce significant input delay.
Beware, this is NOT compatible with those plug n play Retro shooter boxes as those recoil are 12v. You will need that 24v HUB to make it work. Soemthing other reviewers like Retrop Ralph DOES NOT clarify. I have those all in one plug and play Retroshooter and you can not just swap the old guns for it.
You can plug the USB from the 24v Hub into the Plug-N-Play console. They will work just as well. The only difference is you can't plug the recoil of the gun into the console. You will need the 24v power supply and hub for the recoil. So, yes these do work with the older console but you need the 12v power for the console and 24v power for the guns and hub.
It is driving me insane that no one records the cursor in the menu on their videos. Like at 8:30 you can see the NAMCO expensive boys are performing AMAZINGLY in the menu, with near mouse-like polling performance. There is no footage of that same menu to compare to the RS3. The game footage is not apples to apples because of the emulator settings on top of how the game handles input.
@@jayvee5886 I saw the numbers, but he recorded against a 60hz monitor so your eyes didn't actually SEE the difference. Looks like Wicked has at least a 120hz panel. -- thank you for the suggestion though, it is the best we have at the moment.
Its a pity modern lightguns are a total mess and need so much wires and LEDs on the screen. Why can they not some how produce a lightgun you can just plug and play like the old ones, which I think where better
The Sinden light gun is pretty much plug and play and works with modern displays and doesn't need LEDs or IR receivers, but it's expensive. I bought a Sinden because of all the things you mentioned.

@@ferrellslI saw a Cabela Arcade 1 Up cab that seemed to be using Sinden guns. The aim was off, and I was very disappointed. Granted this was a store display and probably wasn’t set up properly. Has it been your experience that a correctly set up Sinden gun allows for accurate aiming down the sights?
@@michaelwilson5737 The Sinden doesn't need any calibration and doesn't rely on IR receivers or sensor bars for aiming, so the only setup you have to do with the Sinden is in software. The Sinden software draws a narrow white border around the game screen and the onboard camera in the gun uses that border to calculate where your shots land. Previously, I had an AirTrak gun that used dual IR sensors mounted on the monitor and it was frustrating to use. It needed constant calibration and it wasn't accurate unless you were standing directly in the center of the monitor. If you moved to one side a bit, it threw off the accuracy terribly. The Sinden gun doesn't suffer from this. I'm using my Sinden with Teknoparrot, MAME, Redream and several PC native games. For games that refuse to allow Sinden's white border to be overlaid on the screen, I just use Reshade to force the border on top and that works fine. If you don't have the time nor the desire to learn a bit, by all means, get a Pandora's Box with one of the guns that it supports and mount some sensors and have fun. But if you need a light gun that works with nearly every emulator out there as well as with PC games and you need accuracy and you don't mind taking the time to learn how to set it up, get the Sinden.
trust me, we would love to have a better shipping option. We are kinda stuck with two options because they look like guns and many shipping companies don't want to touch them.
They work on there own methode. Software wise it's the same thing going on. We do have some plug 'n play software solutions. Waiting for Batocera ... that would be perfect.
The RS3 Reaper can play on the old console with the 24v hub plugged in. The new console comes with newly developed games. There will be more games coming as 3A have hired a full-time development team for lightgun games that run on the console we are now selling.

These guns are very fast. Probably the fastest on the market. Tested by others, by the way.

Exactly the reason why I use my Sindens on the the project and Gun4ir and MX24s on the TV / Arcade Cabinet. I actually hate all the wires and sensors.

I think it was ... holding the joystick in.. Cycle through the led colours and somewhere there is a shutdown led function with it.

Yes there is. Look at Retro Ralphs video. The RS3's are polling faster.
