The only thing remotely bad about this was that the saxes could be playing out more. Or at least heard better. Honestly that’s all, it was really good other than that.
It's actually quite easy to play even if the conductor isn't showing every beat. Many conductors actually only show the first beat of each bar and most of the kids weren't looking anyways.
Its also pretty common for jazz bands to not have the conductor conduct, its more of a jazz thing because jazz doesnt have as hard set rules as other music
The fact that most of these kids are in middle school is even more impressive. We don’t have enough people in our jazz band, I’m one of only two trombone players :/

I heard a band kid that plays the clarinet on my bus say that they call the clarinet and flute a sadness stick since you can't hear them much when they play because of the brass and percussion kids. I guess I'm lucky I chose the violin but that means I'm in orchestra and the band kids get to do things that are more fun but at least we get to go to a state fair in 7th and 8th grade for a compition and get to go on rides instead of doing a parade for the elementary schools but, you get some you lose some. At least the orchestra Teacher's chill.
@@katedp7825 lmao out trumpet and brass players lost all motivation and just sound terrible. Im a flute, and all the clarinets and flutes just hear demented goose screams during all the band practices.

Dang. I was expecting it to be slowed WAY down, but the kids took it at a pretty darn good pace. I'm very much impressed (especially by the trombones, as an ex-trombonist). Some of my favorite memories in band were from jazz band. I loved this from start to finish.
Wow this swings. I wish my middle/high school band teachers cared about the repertoire the students liked, instead of forcing their own songs on us. More people would’ve probably stuck with it. Very well done!
My Jazz Band only has 10 kids in it!! You guys are so lucky to have as many people in it as you do.
