The 327 in the HK was the first Holden to be sold with a 327 Chev engine and only in the GTS and only with a 4 speed manual transmission (no auto) in the Monaro and it was really in its last year of production but was in Australian delivered Chev impalas and Pontiacs prior to this also the 307 (283 bore and 327 stroke) badged as 5 litre was not a performance engine and was an under square engine and was was only sold during the same time as the 327 and only more numerous because it was optional in lesser spec Holdens and commercials and the Brougham and was dropped when Holden released its new 253 and 308 Australian only range of V8’s in the HT model and the Chev 350 replaced the 327
The car at 0:47 and again at 12:41 is a Holden VL commodore walkinshaw they were the first car made by HSV (Holden special vehicles) a very rare car as only 750 of them were ever made and are worth a lot of money On why the Holden monaro had a chev badge because both companies are owned by general motors and it has a Chevy motor in it Holden used Chevy engines for their V8s back then until they started using their own V8 in commodores but they went back to using chevy engines again with the chevy ls1 engine and used them until Holden ended production of their commodore model
This was filmed in Perth Western Australia at the Perth Motorplex. We often have a custom Cars n Coffee meet here. it brings out some really cool and awesome cars.
Yank iron is popular down here. In the 50s, the British cars couldnt hack the poor roads and long distances. People turned to the bigger engined US cars. Oz manufactures built with US styles. Many many US cars were imported too.

No. No use for Ian, because from the videos I've seen from street machine TV in their summer nats videos they don't call out the models of cars. So I stopped watching. The chevelle looks nothing like any of the Ford falcons. They basically what the Holden HQ Monaro's are based off, got the tail lights in the rear bumper too.

The people who run V8 Supercars do a really cool thing where they allow schools to take kids to the Friday practice day for free. I used to run an excursion when they raced at Homebush in Sydney. Great paint jobs and murals, big engines and rides etc. I always bought a shirt (usually Lowndes or 888) and kids would pester me all year about making sure I organised the excursion. Unfortunately the Homebush track isn't used anymore. Great PR by the brand though.

The Walkinshaw VL at 12:41 is actually how they came off the showroom floor. Developed by famous motorsport man Tom Walkinshaw, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) in a wind tunnel. And I believe Peter Brock may have had some input. The Walkinshaw version has fuel injection. They are super rare now, and extremely valuable, an original mint condition example could sell for $1 million (AUD) or more. Non mint condition easily attract $250,000+ Most never modified them, as they didn't need it. Awesome piece of machinery (for the day)
The original front air dams are hard to come by as they were so low they'd get smashed easily. Some owners swapped them for something else from some other sporty Commodore and stashed the original.

2 kinds of Aussies. Those who love Holden and those who love Ford but they have one thing in common, a hatred for people who put Chevy badges on a Holden lol 😜
Ignore the chevy badges on holdens. For some reason beyond me, puting chevy badges on holdens is something that an endless amount of dumbasses do over here. To me a chevy is a chevy and a holden is a holden. Having a chevy badge on your holden doesnt make it chevy. If these people want a chevy they should just buy one. My favorite holden is an lx torana, favorite commodore is hsv vx clubsport r8. I would never buy a v6 holden again as the engines are the worst turd engines ever.
The monaro with the Chevy badge may have been a customized 72 SS Belmont the very first SS many people changed them out to a 350 chev because it was a popular motor in the day. I had one everytime I see one I feel like crying....I want it back.
Chris H. Indeed they did (at AMI in Melbourne) - I had a '73 Rambler Matador with the 360 V8 for about 10 years from the late '80's, and it was a great car, eventually sold it to an AMC enthusiast because it wasn't getting used enough. Should have kept it, it would be worth 20 times what I sold it for, now.
That’s actually my family racing teams car, the white vn commodore with the honey road racing sticker runs high 10s, we also have a 7 second Chevy Monte Carlo and my cousin does juniors 😅, the green Torana makes I think just over 1000hp and runs 6 seconds of I remember correctly, they have a RUclips channel (The McClure Bros)
Glad to see someone that can appreciate cars :) My dream is to own an IROC just once.. Piece of chit, but I love em lol Been close a couple times now :) > P.S. I have already ticked off a number of your favorites on that list in the video :) > Of all of the cars that I have had and spent a small fortune on, the most fun car I have ever owned was a Mini Moke Californian. Painted white, and then I got my kids to put multi colour hand prints all over it in pastel colours and a layer of gloss. It's was freaky kool :)
your doing well at learning what our cars are m8... plz get on the LJ / LC GTR Torana's & the earlier dunnydores. VK VH etc... IMO the LJ LC are a very fun car. I had a V8 version LJ But they are just as fun with a stonkin 6 banger in them also. great vid..

Some had Holdens Lion Badges on them, most didn't. 60's GMH BelAirs &Impala had inverted wipers, a good tell when trying to tell if it's a US conversion or not. Definitely not that B&W, when ya trying to get parts sometimes.🍻
2 kinds of Aussies. Those who love Holden and those who love Ford but they have one thing in common, a hatred for people who put Chevy badges on a Holden lol 😜
Fords definitely. Holden’s just Holden together…😁
@@julzhunt7790 true that, can't say the same thing about Ford: p

Ignore the chevy badges on holdens. For some reason beyond me, puting chevy badges on holdens is something that an endless amount of dumbasses do over here. To me a chevy is a chevy and a holden is a holden. Having a chevy badge on your holden doesnt make it chevy. If these people want a chevy they should just buy one.
My favorite holden is an lx torana, favorite commodore is hsv vx clubsport r8. I would never buy a v6 holden again as the engines are the worst turd engines ever.
Did you notice some of the custom rego plates??
G'day mate, for lots of more great Aussie muscle watch street machine tv summernats 34,that was held in Canberra last week.

G'day mate
You should watch the Summernats 34 shows you'll love it
Cheers Asha
The monaro with the Chevy badge may have been a customized 72 SS Belmont the very first SS many people changed them out to a 350 chev because it was a popular motor in the day. I had one everytime I see one I feel like crying....I want it back.
Many US interested car guys import older US models if they have enough money and interest.
Have you had a look at the Summernats 34 videos?
There’s a lot of money in Perth….
AMC Assembled cars in Australia for period of time.
The GTS Monaro at the begging with the Chevy badge indicates it had a 350 Chevy or 454 big block in it.
Watch summernats you'll enjoy it
That’s actually my family racing teams car, the white vn commodore with the honey road racing sticker runs high 10s, we also have a 7 second Chevy Monte Carlo and my cousin does juniors 😅, the green Torana makes I think just over 1000hp and runs 6 seconds of I remember correctly, they have a RUclips channel (The McClure Bros)
Gold two door Ford Torino 1970 GT sport roof also came in a soft top
The truck is a Mack Superliner mate 😂😂😂
12.25 was a Falcon and 12.32 70’s Monaro
That purple flat bed HQ ute used to be my son's. I'm sure It's the same one. Now on the other side of Australia.

Of all of the cars that I have had and spent a small fortune on, the most fun car I have ever owned was a Mini Moke Californian.
Painted white, and then I got my kids to put multi colour hand prints all over it in pastel colours and a layer of gloss. It's was freaky kool :)
Cheers sub if you like

5:00 Those Gremlins are ugly... I want one!
I think they put Chev badges on Holdens to make them cooler 😂
Because they run chev engines
@@joelfeuerreiter703 why don't they put Nissan badges on VL' s then?😅
