Ryan, you are learning a lot about us Aussies but there are many more things to come. By now, you should have discovered that we like to shorten names for things. Summernats is one of them. Summer Nationals = Summernats (you read nauts as in nautical) but no bodies of water are involved. LOL!
The way you pronounced "Summernats" was hilarious
Summer naughts lol
@@glennt7214brain read astronauts lol
Does that mean l have a pet cart
Summernuts 😂
Pinch your notse and say rats - tĥen summernats!
Ryan you asked " Whats left of the tyers ? "
Just the rims, some times.
The word is TYRES...
@@twoflyinghats You're that much of a troll you don't a typo when you see it.
Summer NAT as in national. One of the best ones, was a guy in the 90s took a car down to compete, and couldn't do it in the end, so he took the truck in he transported his other car on, and WON, nearly melting the axle on the truck, it was glowing red.
The color in the smoke is made by the wheels having the rubber colored.
The Summernats are also a place where they exhibit the cars, and do a range of other competitions.
And yes, it is VERY loud in person.
I went to the first five of the Nats.
Australians are the burnout champions of the world, yes there's a big car culture here! Some people have mentioned Bathurst races, that's exciting fun! Plus there's the Deny Ute Muster with plenty of country yobbos! We also have truck racing and crash derby's! And recently won a random burnout comp in USA! 😂
"Deny Ute Muster" translation for non-Aussies:
Ute = a vehicle that is a sedan at the front and truck bed at the back.
Muster: to herd, like you would cattle or sheep.
Deny: Deniliquin, a town in southwest NSW.
So it's a national meetup of ute owners, to show off their vehicles.
@@elli4210 Yes! It's essentially a Car Show, but they do a bit of drinking and country dancing, some rodeo action too! 😁
Deni ute muster and summernats are aussies favourites, and they are my favourite too!
Just like in the USA with their craze for fastest street cars.
I was asked to weld together two V8 engines to create a single V16 engine ten years ago.
The engineer who designed the engine sold it to a USA customer for just under US$ 4.5 million.
It was published in the famous Street Machine magazine.
We built a second engine with high performance turbo charged twin carburettors.
The engineer tried to do his own welding and gave up bringing it in for me and another to finish the job we welded the two engines together through the cylinder bore using 10mm TIG welding torches.
Each engine required to be oil free and deoxidised Before preheating and controlled cooling.
Preheating took two hours and cooling was done over four hours leaving only 1hr for welding daily at a rate of $120 an hr it required two people to complete the work one to maintain the right temperature and one welding.
Taking a total of six weeks to complete, 15 gas bottles 12 oxygen bottles and four bottles of argon.
I will leave it up to you to work out how much it cost the customer.
Mate you need to go to a Cletus burnout comp. He's a yank that came over for a SummerNats and loved it so much built his own car and now holds comps very similar over there.
I was wondering why American burnouts suddenly got better to watch, didn't know this
Ken Oath, that is a PROUD DAD!!!! And Mum, no doubt! 😁 Brilliant! 😃
Summer nAts as in Summer Nationals.
I'm not sure but I think the object is to do the best burnout and blow the tires before you blow your engine or hit the wall.
The different coloured smoke comes from special chemicals they infuse into the rubber when the tire is made and turns that colour when heated. There's many different colours you can choose from including tires that change colour as they're smoking.
I love how the passenger multitasks as counterweight, navigator and hype man.
Some classic Aussie cars in this video. Old commodores, station wagons, panel vans etc.
We have tractor pulls and the odd Demolition derby. Sprint car racing on a dirt oval track was a big thing here back in the day. And motorcycle sidecar races.
I was brought up in the Australian car culture and love the sound of a revving engine and the smell of burning rubber.
You should attend cleetus McFarland next event in indy right in your backyard would give you a good idea what we do down Under
Yeah and Derrick Bieri of Vice Grip Garage has imported colored tires from Aus for some of his burnouts.
“Nats” is short for “national” and summernats is the national car festival that just so happens to be in summer and summernats holds the burnout championship finals.. qualifying is done at the other events during the year such as gazzanats, Easternats, red Centre nats.
You have a *minimum* of 2 minutes to do a constant burnout, with some fancy driving, without hitting the wall, without stopping, and the goal is to get as much smoke, as much wheel speed, and engine rpm’s, blow both the tyres, and still be able to drive the car off the track under its own power once it’s done.
The only way to know fully about Australia is to come out here. 🤗❤️🇦🇺
Ryan : " summer-naughts "
Me : Dying inside 😂😂🤣
As someone that grew up in the middle of car culture, even as a kid I knew the significance of Indiana's car culture and it's history. I never own a 'I love NYC' hat or any states merch, except a red shirt with Indiana in white writing across it and I still have it
There’s a few aussies over in us atm doing a powercruse tour with their burnout cars
The insta GIANT GRIN ON MY FACE! 😃😃😃😁 There's a lot of hoon blood pulsing in these veins 😄✌🏻🇦🇺🩷
Look up Summernats as it's held in Canberra each year and the whole city sort of gets into it. They have a cruise around the city with closed roads. It's held over a few days and lots of people go down just to watch and look. They have several things that happen too.
Not the whole city. Many people leave Canberra to escape the noise and the bogans
@@gailstevens6831 yeah true. But it's still a big event for the car enthusiasts.
@@gailstevens6831 Yes, it's very unpleasant for people whose nearby residential streets are commandeered by "enthusiasts" for burnouts and street racing, but apparently very pleasant for the Dickson McDonalds for the roaring trade that they do. During Summernats I'm thankful to be living nowhere near the otherwise trendy inner north.
A small subset of Australian bogans
The fans may be, But the drivers are far from it, some of the cars cost $1,000,000 plus to get that power without the car ripping it self apart.
excuse me, i would say almost anyone who didn't grow up in a city and were not all bogans , just a little bit bogan.
Being a bogan does not equate with financial poverty.
Many bogans are extremely affluent 💰
Probs why they wreck their vehicles... burning their financial wealth in these 'burnouts'.
All the best from Debbie in Australia. ✌☮🕯💙
@@Bomaderry Yeah, so whoever owns/drives those cars are rich bogans😉. That's why they are a subset😀
@@Hochspitz people in WA called them cubs meaning cashed up bogans
We have Tractor pulls here too.
Summernats is a rev heads paradise❤❤❤
We do burnouts right.
Judged on many things,
Style, speed, amount of smoke, routine etc.
It's not a joke event for the car enthusiasts of Australia. It's something people spend all their money and time on to be a part of. Summer Nationals, or naughts as you put it, is the most prestigious car event in the calender for enthusiasts all over the country.
We have tractor pulls in Australia aswell
There is no tyres left... They usually go until they blow. You lose points for stopping/crashing.. Get points for speed and style. 6:04
I didn’t care about the burnouts, thought they were boring.
I watched for Ry’s face. Priceless!
My sister and brother in law are great friends with the winner
Points are
Space of skid pad so you have skid all over the pad.
Rev and car control.
Tyres pop time the quicker the better.
Crowd if crowd goes wild that's extra points.
Some pf the best burnout cars from Australia are there now. To show America how its done
Lynchy tearing shit up🤘🇦🇺
And Cleetus. Our Brother from another Mother🤘 was babysitting the 'Warbird' for a bit and I think 'Killabee'. Awesome
At least you got a taste on how burn-outs are done.😂
Combine/Header Demolition Derby is way more fun than regular old car based version.
i hope youve seen the aussie guys that went to america for a youtubers burnout comp. luxifer is also a beast
It was because Cleetus McFarland came to Oz to see Summer Nats Burnout comps, that he took it back to the USA and made it HUGE.. Summer Nationals.. Summer Nats..
One of the guys I work with used to do tractor pulls in Victoria
Have a look at Deni Ute Muster videos where Oz farm boys and gals have shown off their utes for the last 25 years
There is true inner petrol bogan in all of us in Australia. Salute 🫡
Hey mate, if you're ending up down the Aussie, automotive-rabbit hole, it's worth checking out Larko's "this is Bathurst" (unless you've already done that on your channel?) it'll give you goosebumps 🥳🍻
But rabbit hole it is, as Aussie car culture is almost as diverse and complex as American car culture.
Scrubbing rubber out of all you creases, cracks and orpheus for weeks after Summernats..🤘
That's just the spectators!
Build a six figure 'Skid Pig' all year then destroy it in a week, rinse n repeat!🤘🇦🇺 Straya
G’day Ryan
The game is not over until BOTH tyres are off. Scoring is 50% smoke. Yes it is all tyre!
The other 50% is judged on skill. Use ALL the pad, don’t hit the wall, don’t use the rev limmiter.
6 of the LEGEND cars are in your country right now. They just busted up western champlins place! Coming to a town near you!
Cheers
i laughed so hard when you asked what's left o the tires haha, Nothing my friend.
Nothin but memories 😂🍻🇦🇺
Come to summernats and get amongst it! Sickest 4 days you'll ever have!
Yeah Mate. More Aussie Skid Pigs👍🇦🇺🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥
happy arvo omg never heard this talk burnouts here the super eats but lots do the roads also its popular here many australian like to have nice cars thats normal here car show very high here all the time honesty
Try 'The Bend Dragway' for some cool stuff @Ryan Was
Well this was a first for me as a born and raised Australian
The criteria or what the judges look for is different at each comp generally the rules are you have to make instant smoke at the start and make continuous smoke the whole burnout so you cant lift the accelerator of or the smoke stops you also have to do a tip in which is the first time you spin in a circle as you enter the skid pad you also need to use the whole skid pad not just the middle bit you also need to show complete control and dominance of a high powered up to 2000 HP car doing a burnout the engine needs to be revving it tits of things not to do is catch fire or hit the wall or go in reverse or stop or blow up as you have to leave the pad under your own power after the skid if you cant move after the skid you loose
Good arvo mate its said Good arvo I have never heard someone say happy arvo
Haha it's tongue in cheek meant to represent how difficult our culture is to emulate
It's his catchphrase. He even put it on a T shirt.
Don’t hit the wall don’t catch on fire and don’t let off the throttle and put up a good show
Summernoughts 😂 C'mon Ryan 😂
I saw “Summernauts” at first, too.
Legend has it, that's how clouds are made by us Aussies doing burnouts.
That lovely smell of fuel and rubber.🔥🤠
The bigger the boys, the bigger the toys.
the smaller the tools.🦴
@@AussieFossil thank you, exactly what I was going to say!
I don't have to go to the Summernats - they do that at the end of my street.
"how much smoke is coming from the tyres" ....all of it....
How do they get the coloured smoke ?
Us Aussie are crazy when it comes to burnouts
been going to summernats for years. its a 4 day car festival so nburnouts are prob main atraction but ther eelite hall with full show cars and there dyno comps its massive im pretty sure its the biggest car show in southern hemisphere. burnouts are usually judged on instant smoke, constent smoke, drive control, must drive off the pad after you are done, i think some comp maybe couple extra points for blowing each tyre but elite level guys have no problem doing that but as a cultural thing id say you shouldnt be driving off pad with tyres still left unless cars broken cam to smash tyres. hit walls does happen you lose points same with having to grab reverse. there be nearly a burnout comp every weekend somewhere in australia what you sore was the master there the best of the best basically won other comps to qualify for this ones. all pads are different shaped and sized. yea i love the sport you watch more ill sub for sure just be careful of flintys video he tends to get upset when people use his videos from what i seen
Burnout Masters Guiness world record breaking attempts always creates a skyful of colourful smoke. Saudi Arabia is the only place where Australia's title has ever been seriously challenged. We did lose it to them once, but won it back again at the following Summernats.
3:40 It looks like an interesting expo that I will never go to (the smoke would make me sick immediately). I find the editing of this video (not you Ryan) because it’s only shown 1 full turn so far. I want to see the rest of the spin, not the cockpit or the next car
Can you imagine them doing this in Washington DC, doubtful
Who gaf about the tyres! 🤣🥰😃
It's nats like bats, cats, rats. Say it...nats..nats... Summernats. 🤣
Mate, this was the comment I was looking for. Word perfect!🇦🇺
He knows. It's a comment generator, LOL.
@@tropicsalt. I'm an old bloke, I didn't know there was such a thing. So was that computer generated?
@@davidburnett93 No. I meant, he says words words incorrectly to generate comments. It helps the algorithm, I'm guessing. Not judging, it's funny.
@@tropicsalt. oh, I get you. He does it with emu and others. Clever
You may not want to know, but the algorithm knows what you want
Look up Summernats from the 90's 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, was it Troy McClure that started the high speed tip-in? The memory is not what it used to be. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong
@@davidburnett93 couldn't say for sure mate but it was a lot wilder back then 🤣 and even had wet tshirt contest 🤣🤣🤣 good old days
We can't build fighter jets and shit like America, but fuck are we the masters of burnouts! 😂😂😂
Utility vehicle, “yute”
Oot 😂
Demo derby have them, tractor pulls have them as well
The Indianapolis 500 might explain why so many people in Indiana are interested in auto speed racing.
Australia isn't the only place. It's not only in Australia.
Time for you to catch up on current USA car culture - "Florida Man... etc, "Freedom Factory" - "Cleetus and Cars" - importing Summer Nats style burnout competitions / events / shows into the US market - and add in celebrity (not quite) "banger racing" - - Burnouts, Tractor Pulls, Monster Trucks and Drag Racing - peak Industrial Revolution....
look an aussie tractor one did it easily 453 gm motor their family was seeing who could pull it further 8-year-old 16-year-old or 40-year-old gympie show is crazy qld Australia
tractor pulls
I’ve never understood the attraction?
Think you accidentally used the thumbnail caption from your last vid. 😂
Not into all this stuff, but he has a title saying Did she just say that ? And after going back and forth 3 times i still cant find a place with anyone saying anything apart for the winner being picked... So was it a wrong title or what ?
Hey Ryan, if you're after True Blue aussies you'd probably get a kick out of watching 'Bogan Hunters'
Thank me later 😉
How to pick up chicks, win the burnout comp.
I'm an Aussie female and I think it's silly but that's me.
How much of that smoke is coming from the tyres, all of it
I do this shit on a Sunday brah. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE
You'll need to search up red centre natts or gazzanatts darwin
😂 summernauts 0:59
the second is isn’t pronounced as tuffest it is tuff street
You see the crowd after the event and their faces are black from the burnt rubber.
I have heard you pronounce UTE as oot.
Pronunciation is yoot
I was at the first Summer Nats. You have to wear ear plugs and a mask. Afterwards people are covered in black stuff.
React to LUXIFER an Australian Toyota burnout ute that is in the US.
You can't see where your going
You can add pigments to the rubber
There is nothing left IF you did it right

You know you haven’t won when you blow your motor.
I have to ask…why are people doing burnouts in a middle school, parking lot? Wouldn’t students be at least senior school students before they get their licence?
My idea of heaven - and yes I am a girl 🇦🇺🤘
Top sheila! 🎉😊
Not many tracktor pulls here .. smash up derbys every now and again tho. 4:41
I Reckon you should check out KRANKY
React to lynchy !!!!
I was there with my Granddaughter. Hot as hell that year.
🤔
Ute = short for utility, so pronounced "yewt" not "oot" Cheers
Bro said summernauts
Hate wasting rubber😢
Yeah it's not a great use of our natural resources
