tilo dyer June 2018 tots agree with your comment on the smith's performance of hand 🖐 in glove and I love the way you said stellar mindyourself be happy 😊 peace ✌ out do you do any of the Morrissey dance moves when you are on your todd i am always singing and dancing 🎶 to so many artists i live for music and dancing 🎶 hope the world is being good to you were ever you are
The whole band is spot-fucking-on in this performance. I also really dig it when Morrissey sings aggressively without loosing much of the melody. P.S. Gotta love it when Morrissey wears a shirt with his own face on it!
How I wish I could have been in that pit! Johnny's great autobiography has me re-watching all these videos of early Smiths days, and I love them all the more!! Forever a Smiths fan
this is very memorable to me as I was at this gig in Glasgow Barrowlands, my friend Doreen (what a name) borrowed on of my shirts to wear and got up on stage - Morrisey spat on her and she was bundled off by the bouncers. I never got the shirt back either. It was also filmed for the tv show The Tube
I cannot stop watching this. What an incredible performance of such an incredible song. There is so much energy in the place, and the band looks like they are having so much fun.
Remember this like it was yesterday( just realised how old I am), the best band ever in the best live venue ever Glasgows famous Barrowlands Ballroom, the curved ceiling provides the best accoustics ever!!
2:18 I love how Andy looks at Johnny, you can see they were having a nice time. I love The Smiths and probably this one is my favorite song by them, is so perfect.
Was at the barrow lands to see this gig 25 years ago. The concert was filmed for the tube and if I remember margi Clarke ( letter to Brezhnev ) did some interviews with the moz and the band
i too was mocked but "i really don't know and I really don't care" was my attitude...25 years later still listening and still love them just as i idid then...
@epn9394 I've been watching all these live Smith's vids the last few days, and this one is the BEST. So POWERFUL! And they always sound BETTER live than they do on recordings. This performance is full of emotion and energy.
As this is one of my favourite videos on RUclips it surprised me to see Johnny, Andy and Mike are all wearing the same t-shirt as Morrissey, OF Morrissey :D. TOP CLASS
Thanks, llevaba tiempo buscando esta versión. Gracias por subir tanta musica de The Smiths, es una de mis bandas predilectas y Morrissey es una de mis tres musicos favoritos....
It's just occurred to me, the line 'but we've sometinh they'll never have', do you think Noel could have been influenced by that in writing 'we see things they'll never see' in Live Forever?
Is it the poor sound quality that makes this so good or is it an unusually powerful version? If you check out live im rockpalast or in live in madrid the band sounds flat. Rockpalast features hand in glove as well, but damn, this one's better
I was at this gig and it was absolutely nuts! The Barrowlands is a great venue at the best of times, but when bands like The Smiths play there, bands that "get" the atmosphere of the place, then it just takes off!
@NSAHAI1 I thumbs downed this because these are my two favorite songwriting duos. no need to turn it into a sports team cheer or jeer sort of thing. each pair had one soul who knew the world runs on hot air (Lennon and Morrissey), and another with a heart of the very sweetest of sounds (McCartney and Marr). i also think both bands quit while they were ahead (ahem, i'm looking at you rolling stones).
raw,in it's purest form!!!! this song never gets dull...The Smiths "UNTOUCHABLE"
Greatest version of this song, and one of the greatest live versions of any song I've ever seen.
By far the best one : incandescent, each member of the band is smiling, this is heaven
there will never be a more perfect band
Two words I can say about this performance : Superb and Stellar
tilo dyer That's three words

I love the little exchange between Johnny and Andy around 2:16. All four of them just seem so excited!
I love the intensity of this performance. great song.
The Smiths are the only band that is ever allowed to wear shirts advertising their own band.
The whole band is spot-fucking-on in this performance. I also really dig it when Morrissey sings aggressively without loosing much of the melody.
P.S. Gotta love it when Morrissey wears a shirt with his own face on it!
They never let the fans get this close nowdays... great band, great performance!
How I wish I could have been in that pit! Johnny's great autobiography has me re-watching all these videos of early Smiths days, and I love them all the more!!
Forever a Smiths fan
nuwver always and no matter what other people say they are and were awesome hats oy you mindyourself be happy 😊 nuw
Morrissey was killing it

Marr and Morrissey tear it up in working class Glasgow. And the rhythm section cooks, too. Brilliant and spectacular.
I cannot stop watching this. What an incredible performance of such an incredible song. There is so much energy in the place, and the band looks like they are having so much fun.

There is something wonderfully eerie about the composition on this one.
remember the good old days! yes indeed.......
oh wow this looks like one gig that should not have been missed at any cost
believe it or not i still have this t-shirt, without doubt the best smiths shirt ever
Lol, there's no greater humourist than Morrissey.
There'll never be anything like it again
i too was mocked but "i really don't know and I really don't care" was my attitude...25 years later still listening and still love them just as i idid then...
This is a great version of this song. Thanks.

This is the bollocks! The Smiths at their glorious best! Fabulous! Well done guys!
I saw the Smiths as part of one of the "Concerts at the Pier" series in NYC back in the 80s...they were AWESOME,...!
Never has missing a concert had such an impact on a life than me missing this one.
Excellent stuff.... wish I could have been there

Provavelmente o melhor show ao vivo de século XX. Agua Fria SP
That's mental the Barras didn't used to have a crash barrier at the front. Yikes.
Morrissey is beautiful. I wish he was mine.
Very nice... top form.
Incrível performance dos Smiths. Smiths Forever

Wish I was alive in those days, would've been great 2 see them live, still got 2 see Mozza though :)
Thanks, llevaba tiempo buscando esta versión. Gracias por subir tanta musica de The Smiths, es una de mis bandas predilectas y Morrissey es una de mis tres musicos favoritos....
incredible
Such an explosive beginning:))
Pretty lovely song.
this is fucking insane....... AT THEIR PEAK
I literally bite my bottom lip every time I tch the ending to Morissey's shirtless body teehee :)
Brilliant! Thank you so much for posting this you lucky sod.
It's just occurred to me, the line 'but we've sometinh they'll never have', do you think Noel could have been influenced by that in writing 'we see things they'll never see' in Live Forever?
Really GOOD video!
Puro amor por ellos!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!
más te escucho y más te adoro... a pesar de todo.
Just look how much fun they're having though..
Andy & Johnny r wearing Mozza t-shirt..
The Smiths - At their best.. Great band !! (They'd clean up if they re-formed.. Hint !!)

ENERGYENERGYENERGY!
Morrissey whipping the crowd with a mic cord is at his best 😏
The best
This should be the only viewable version of this song by The Smiths, with regards to the Sandie Shaw version.
was at the gig best ever until a seen Springsteen queued two hours before the gig at the barras for a ticket no tinternet then brilliant
Completely forgot this was filmed for the tube and yep .. spotted myself up the front at 2:58 ... only sixteen ...clumsy and shy !! 😝
thats amazing
Look at the size of the bouncer's arms? Jeez - what did his mum feed him for breakfast?
@jcrawley1 definitely! well spotted! and this is noels fav smith song!!
Happy Xmas
In 1985 Morrissey and Marr gave me choice :)
When he was at peak being good

secondo me no ma ti piacerebbe!
One of the best, but marr ripped us off
