  • After shifting some weight around in the car, I needed to make some suspension changes in the RC No Prep car to make sure the car would launch straight. In this video I go through those changes and describe what they should do. Hopefully I can test it out to confirm these changes soon!

      You would need to change the small toe blocks in the rear. I picked up a set and played around with a few combinations. I settled on about 1 degree of toe in I believe though.

    Good stuff! Been binging all your videos. When it comes to springs and shocks,
    People often confuse the function of springs vs shocks. The spring controls how much distance the suspension will move under a given load and how much weight transfers to that corner. The shock dampens the motion, controlling how fast the suspension is allowed to move, and reduces (ideally eliminates) oscillation in the suspension.

    • @FullThrottleRC
      @FullThrottleRC  2 года назад +1

      Thank You!!! I think the thing people overlook the most (guilty of it myself when I began in the hobby) is the dampening rate of different shock oils. Many beginners go straight to the springs to adjust suspension but the oil needs to be looked at as well.

    • @FullThrottleRC
      @FullThrottleRC  3 года назад +1

      I have seen a few instances of the car lifting up, I have limiters in the original longer shocks but I haven't needed them in the shorter front shocks I use in the rear.

    • @shawnflanagan517
      @shawnflanagan517 3 года назад

      I know I got the front shocks in the rear 2 but just for some reason it just wanted to start lifting the rear end up pretty badly that was horrible towards the end when it was at Full Throttle and hit him up or something cuz it cause a wheelie bar to sit real high off the ground and couldn't keep the front end down so I lowered the wheelie bar and put limiters in it to where it went raise up no more

    you know lay-down shock gives you more traction. the reason is you can run a hard spring and still be soft (for weight to transfer) and as the suspension compresses it gets hard, then put the pressure on the tire.
    but this is coming from an off-road background. probably the best way to adjust your car (since you already have good weight to the rear with the motor) is to run a stiff stand-up spring. with ride-height at dog bones level (for speed) or just below dog bones level is a (bit better for grip and speed). then adjust the weight transfer with the front end (like change the oil for slower or faster transfer) or (change the shock limiters for how much total weight you want to shift). kinda sucks you probably don't have droop screws for fast adjustments.

      What you described in the second part of your comment is basically exactly what I'm running. I'll be doing an updated suspension video on this car soon since I got it pretty dialed in now.

    What if i dont keep any suspension at all for the rear wheels? Or will it then have a very bumpy ride?

    • @FullThrottleRC
      @FullThrottleRC  3 года назад +1

      No Prep rules require the car to have suspension. So you could run without any suspension but it would have to be in a "run anything" class or just for fun.

    • @soundmindtv2911
      @soundmindtv2911 2 года назад +1

      Upon launch, there will be no control of the weight transfer to the rear tires, which will actually reduce the transfer and allow the tires to spin more easily. Additionally, the tires will momentarily lose contact with the ground upon every small bump, which will also allow them to spin. The car would be very hard to control under acceleration.
