Not even decreased volume or texture of ejaculate? Im interested in finasteride but id want to make my loads bigger not risk making them smaller. Maybe abit smalled wouldnt hurt but wluldnt want them to be significantly smaller. Ofc i care about other potential sides too but ive heard more about them how ppl say they get no sides eventually. Probably some people can reduce more scalp DHT than others with the same dose or the hair folicle is able to regrow better after the folicle already been miniaturized compared to normal people. I don't know if it is a known topic, other theory I heard is types of 5AR, FIN blocks type 2 and if someone really almost only has type 2 on hair folicles it is going to work better compared to someone who has more type 1 commpared to the other guy, because FIN doesn't block type 1 significantly

According to an intriguing case study I recently conducted, it was observed that intensely watching Haircafé's videos demonstrated a comparable efficacy to a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, leading to a reduction in DHT levels by up to 50% when compared to a placebo.
At this point what can finasteride not do?
It can't reverse much hair loss, which would explain why a lot of men don't like it: it's too late for them.

I am pretty sure it is exactly the same although I have never actually used it. I know it exists though in the typical 0.5 MG dosing that the gelcap exists at.
Dutasteride is off-patent so it should be real.
Hey Kevin, I know you have discussed minoxidil on beards before. I am applying topical fin/min on my scalp once a day at night and applying rogaine on my facial hair once twice a day, I am notcing slow progression but do you know if the topical fin will delay/stop the effects of topical min on facial hair? Thank you!
No, once in adult hood it is testosterone that is responsible for the development of facial hair. That is why people can have high DHT levels and still have shitty facial hair, it is based on genetics. Topical minoxidil applied to the face can certainly help, check out the minoxbeards subreddit.

I've started fin 7 month ago, 1,25mg per day. Before the treatment I did a bloodwork showing 1340pg/ml of DHT
Two weeks ago I did another bloodwork to estimate the efficacy of Fin and got 1050pg/ml
So I have about 20% DHT reduction instead of 50-60%
Should I get worried? Maybe I should start Dut?
No, what matters are DHT levels in your scalp, not in your bloodstream.
hormone levels fluctuate greatly througout the day, maybe you took one test in the morning and the other one later in the day; or just slept shitty first time an better the latter
Hey guys, I've just plucked the courage to start taking dutasteride, I'm easing into it so taking 0.1% concentration, 0.5ml once a week.
I've been doing some 'research' and I'm still wondering if it's safe for my wife and I to have s** as she has a copper iud, and also oral...
I know oral dut would definitely be a no no, but with claims of dut not being systemic when applied topically, in low dosages with a good amount of time, hopefully some of the benefits of would be apparent over time without affecting life drastically, would sincerely appreciate any advice (as I continue doing further research on the topic aswell).
Thanks guys!
The master is back!!!
Yo Kevin, do you think that topical finasteride topical only, is good long term, or does it lose its effectiveness?
Should a person start topical finasteride only, or fin+minox?
Hey Kevin! The dosage ratio of x mg/kg at 13:54 made me wonder whether I should pay more care to my own finasteride dosage. Could a tall man(i.e. 6,4) benefit from a higher dosage than a smaller man (i.e. 5,4)?
Going to start fin soon, I have a pretty bad Norwood 3, but if I look closely I can still see a lot of tiny hairs on the temples so they haven’t fully disappeared. I’m using minox right now, only seen few results, but I wonder if fin will give me better growth in the temples
just woke up and gonna pop my fin with morning coffee and this video, perfect.
Hey kevin, i took 1mg of fin but i started to feel my nips itch like a lot, is this gyno? I also had that left ball pain but i know that goes away with continued use. Should i just continue on with it? I did see that you said the the testosterone and estrogen would need to level out, i am guessing my estrogen went up?
That wouldn't happen after just one pill, but regardless I think you should push through for at least a few more weeks. Any changes to estrogen and testosterone ratios will eventually balance out.
Look into using a DIM supplement if you're worried about gyno. If need be you can try a lower dose, like 0.5 or 0.2 MG daily or every other day.
Hi Kev, what do you think about alfatradiol and spironolactone?
Hey Kevin,
I saw you comment on one of the recent videos Hairliciously created and you mentioned that you were seriously considering adding Pyralutamide to your current hair loss stack, because you believe that the phase 3 clinical trials were a fluke
Can you please make a video in the upcoming days or weeks discussing why this is the case so I myself alongside other witchers can understand your thought process behind this?
I’m kind of playing the level of equilibrium here since the phase 3 placebo group did just as well as the individuals who were on the treatment hence why I’m kind of put off (at the moment) from adding this to my current stack which is just finasteride + minoxidil
Side request: Updated skincare routine please 🥺
Thanks in advance choom, god bless
Yeah, my most recent videos on Pyrilutamide went over this. I'll cover it again as soon as I have more new data.

Kevin! You are a g! I been on dut for 9 months and have bad side minitruization, some shedding and itchy scalp. I was mainting on fin but ever since adding dut (been trying to push thru till a year) I’ve been losing hair. I tapered off fin to go to dut just to get the 90% dht nuke. Fear I made a bad choice as my body doesn’t like it as much it seems. Should I go back to fin?
DUT will not make things any worse but in some very rare circumstances DUT will not be as effective for some people compared to others. I talk about it in my "Can dutasteride actually make you hair loss worse" video.
I'd go back on fin since it was already working well for you, but also I would add topical minoxidil and apply it directly to the problem area.
@@haircafekevin thanks for the quick response. I think I’m going to go back on fin. I’m only 22 and want my hair as long as I can have it. Seems to trust what works best. Thanks. Also did u see the researchers at the university of Cambridge who discovered new rules about our immune system which can enable “healing T cells” that can regrow hair follicles. Seemed
yay! thanks!
So finasteride has significantly slowed my hairloss, but still no regrowth with minoxidil. I'm a cismale but what do you think about spirolactone? Is it worth it or would the sides be too high?
You can try it topically, I have made a video about it.
Oral spironolactone however will feminize you.
It doesn't work as an anti androgen unless it is taken in high doses.
I M taking finasteride for 2 years and I M 25, last week I had erectile dysfunction and couldn’t have sex for the first time. This problem last for just a couple of days and it was because I ve distanced myself from my family because of their toxic behaviour. So if you take finasteride and if will ever be the case of “side effects” consider that for most cases it can be from other causes and keep taking it
I started balding at the back of my head where i need two mirrors to even see back there, do you think i should microneedle and apply minox there too?
Sure, probably just minoxidil alone would be enough. Minoxidil works anywhere where there is hair.
Love the stellar blade thumbnail I recently hit platinum on it very awesome game
Damn! I still haven't beaten it. Got side tracked by the Alan Wake II Night Springs DLC.

Yes, just a few days ago. It is 3 episodes where you play as side characters from the main game and a certain other game developed by remedy (I won't spoil it).
It is short but fun. A bigger expansion is coming in October.
@@haircafekevin Wow! Remedy is the best-they consistently put out 10/10 products with great storytelling, gameplay, graphics, and soundtracks. But, to be honest, their marketing needs improvement. I’m sure poor marketing was the reason Alan Wake 2 underperformed in sales, despite being one of the best games ever, just like Control and Quantum Break.
@@prav077 Yeah, Quantum Break shouldn't have been an Xbox exclusive. Also, I was a bit annoyed how Alan Wake II didn't have a physical release.
curious about when you used to use ru, if there was a shedding phase or any large amounts of shedding, and also REALLY curious if you recommend finasteride orally for someone being 21 and having male pattern baldness that runs in the family. I currently have a good amount of hair but think I'm thinning a bit by the crown? if I get on it sooner the better and I'll keep the hair I have already on my head. But really nervous that the shedding phase of finasteride will only do more damage ? and trying to find a topical that doesn't cause shedding at all if there is any.......
I also would like to add that would finasteride do more damage as in for losing the hair I already have...
If you're worried about shedding then what do you think is going to happen if you don't get on treatment? You're still going to shed, except the hair is never going to come back.
You can either use finasteride, shed and the hair comes back stronger.
Or...
You can not use finasteride, shed and lose the hair forever.
Seems like a no brainer decision to me. The longer you wait to start treatment, the harder it is going to be to recover lost ground.
RU didn't give me any additional shed but that is probably because I didn't notice any additional benefits beyond just finasteride and minoxidil.
Don't fear the shed though, it means the treatment is working. If you want to use something that will give you a good cosmetic look while you recover from the shed then try Caboki concealer.
Kevin, I know you talked about how developing gyno from finasteride is extremely rare and even if it does happen due to the hormonal balances caused by the drug, you could get surgery to get the entire gland removed and the gyno would never return. However, i heard that surgeons don’t completely remove the gland due to aesthetic reasons, and some believe that the gyno could potentially return if the cause for it (in this case finasteride) is not removed. I guess this ties into bodybuilding and if enhanced bodybuilders need to stop their steroid usage after surgery in order to prevent their gyno from coming back. Just curious what your thoughts are on this matter and if you heard about this before. Thanks.
A lot of surgeons will remove the gland, you just have to request it specifically. The reason why some don't like to do it is because it can make the nipple go concave. However, a competent surgeon can do follow up surgery to correct this.
I know surgery is never an ideal option but gyno surgery is still cheaper and safer than a hair transplant which has no guarantee of even looking good to begin with.
@@haircafekevin I thought they always leave a tiny bit of gland tissue behind to support the nipple, which could make it grow back, but I could be completely wrong about this because my knowledge on this is very limited. But you are saying that all the gland tissue can be removed and follow up surgery can be performed to correct the concave nipple, right? Also, I do agree with you that gyno surgery or even a corrective surgery are worth it, assuming that the hormonal imbalances that caused it in the first place do not cause it to grow back again.
Been on 1mg of Fin for 4 years. Great results. No sides. Thoughts on 5 days a week vs 7 Xs per week? Will my results change? Is it worth taking a week off Fin every so often. Just curious. If I can keep results constant with less Fin, that has to be considered a win.
I don't think taking a week off is necessary, but going down to 5 times a week probably would be just fine.
Can I take Saw Palmetto first to check how the body will respond to 5ar suppression? I am 23 years old, I have NW1 and DHT 530 pg/ml. Does taking Finasteride also affect the prevention of prostate hyperplasia at this age?
Hey Kevin I have a question,I was a Norwood 0.5 the last year and immediately started 5 ar inhibitors and now am still experiencing hairline recession like Norwood 2 enven if am taking 5 a blockers what can be the problem???????
Sounds like the textbook definition of a treatment shed. It can take up to two years to see improvement beyond baseline. The shed is most aggressive at the hairline because that is where the majority of telogen hairs are for the majority of hair loss sufferers.
I would stay the course, but maybe add topical minoxidil to the hairline for greater recovery.
@@haircafekevin but kevin what's the point of taking finesteride if the hairline will still be receided aggressively like my case?
@@sigmarules5839 Because the shedding is caused by telogen hairs falling out that are being replaced by stronger anagen hairs. Check out my video on shedding.
ruclips.net/video/VxVYHP0WNfA/видео.html
Sup choom! Been on finasteride and minoxidil for almost a year now, been very proud of the results so far but I do have 1 question. I've noticed the hairs I have gained (which is a considerable amount) stop growing at a certain length, are they just growing slowly? I haven't noticed a significant shed, since i started the treatments so I was wondering why that might be the case? Do they just take a few cycles?
Yeah, the hair has to go through a few cycles before the telogen phase is prolonged enough to grow longer hair.
Finasteride tends to hit its peak in hair growth by year 2 so I'd give it more time.
@@haircafekevin Gotcha tysm Kevin! 😁
hello kevin I have a hard question if Iam on fin and seeing results from it and I switch to dut will I need to wait another 6 months or will it continue from where fin stopped cause they have same mechanism of working?
I think he said before that it would just continue working.
@@babo3324 I don't know let's what he says
Dutasteride starts working much faster than 6 months. By the time the finasteride effect wears off you will have enough dutasteride effect that it should be a smooth transition.
Any knowledge on whether SSRIs can progress balding? They can cause telogen effluvium rarely, but what about progressing balding if predisposed?
Hey king, can you do a video on bdnf and whether or not it can cause hairloss?
Good video as always!
My question:
Is it okay to use Minoxidil + Tretinoin after the the hair transplant or is this irritating the hair growth and can manipulate my transplant results as old hair follicle will be reactivated.?

I am on Finasteride of course 🤞🏻
It should be fine, but if the transplant was very recent always go by what your surgeon recommends, so check with him or her.

Finasteride still works on your after so many years and HT, nice
Thank you for that! I know IRL friends who have been on finasteride even longer than I have and if anything I think their hair looks better than it did several years ago.
Did fin help with any crown regrowth? Im considering either oral dut or fin.
Yes, it does. Helped in my case too.
do you reccomend if you take finasteride and also mix some pills of finasteride and put those in the minoxidl for your scalp?
I do this.
Focus on yourself. You sound judgy as hell@@OhMyDHTfeelsSoGood

Hey Kevin! I've been on Dutasteride for at least 2 years now, from a generic lab. Recently, I've started to question whether the medication they're manufacturing is actually effective. Is there a way to detect if it's lowering my DHT levels, like through a blood test or something similar?
Im going to respond to this
Yes, but you need to ask for specific blood test to detect DHT.
Take 1 week off from finasteride u use take the test, then start taking it again for 1 week and do the test again.
Test should be performed at the same time of day and same amount of sleep
@@Klaudiuszeg Thank you for your response! Although in my case I think I need to have more time without dutasteride because its half-life in the body is more prolonged. I think ideally everyone should do this test before starting treatment, to have something to compare... and of course, I'm afraid of going without taking duta for too long and start losing ground.
Hey I got a question so Im on finsasteride for almost 6 months and my hairfall doesent get any better I still lose maybe 30-40 hairs in the shower maybe some more 60-70. I have to say Im a smoker and smoked a lot and much but I stopped still some days ago someone has an advice?
It can take up to 2 years for finasteride to fully flex its muscles.
Hair fall never stops completely because hair growth is cyclical.
Search my channel for 'shedding.'
Hey Kevin id like to Know what shampoo and conditioner do you use and if you have any other regiments for your hair that help with frizzy and thin hair thanks😊
I just use a generic head and shoulders pyrithione zinc shampoo and conditioner.
If you have dry hair, it really helps to add a teaspoon of jojoba oil to your conditioner and let it sit for 5 minutes. It is chemically similar to the sebum our body produces naturally so it will help counter the dryness from ethanol based topicals.
I gotta ask Kevin. If you think 3mg Daily Dut and RU can outcompetes 110mg Test because the last two years standard dosages of Dut and RU unfortunately weren't enough even for just a small TRT dosage. Hoping for the best on the new doses though!
2.5 MG of dut will suppress 30 percent more scalp DHT than 0.5 MG of dut so I'd say the chances are very good.
do minoxidl results on eyebrows become permament similar to minox beards? do u know anything about this?
Probably yes, since eyebrow hair is usually resistant to DHT damage, like beard hair.
Hey Kevin, about the rodent study on neurosteroids, it mentions 5ar type 1, which Dutasteride effects I believe. I think previously you had mentioned Dut crosses the blood brain barrier too, does this mean Dut could have some potential neurological effects, and should we investigate the rodent studies on this matter?
I'm going defer my answer to this until my next video, which is going to address this topic of dutasteride affecting neurosteroids once and for all!
Hi Kev, what exactly does the chance of regrowth relate to? Why do some people see regrowth even on completely bald areas, while others don't even see regrowth on areas with miniature hair? How exactly can this be explained?
"an awful lot of traits have evolved that exist not because they're adaptive but because they're spandrels" - Robert Sapolsky quoting Stephen Jay Gould
Stephen Jay Gould and Richard Lewontin introduced the term "spandrel" to describe traits that are byproducts of other evolutionary changes, rather than being directly selected for adaptive purposes. This term, borrowed from architecture, refers to the triangular space that forms between two arches. In evolutionary biology, a spandrel is a feature that arises as a necessary consequence of other developments and does not itself have an adaptive function. For example, the human chin may be considered a spandrel, resulting from changes in the shape of the face rather than being a trait selected for its own sake. This concept challenges the idea that every trait has a direct adaptive purpose, suggesting that some traits are simply incidental byproducts of evolutionary processes.

Hello Kevin, can a headband/hairband cause hair loss(pressure alopecia)? with long hair
No, check out my what I've learned video, I talk about this in the first 10 minutes.
Hi , it's normal to switch from brand to another brand without problems?
Yeah, they're the same.
sorry for asking a lot but I asked you about dut and I didn't get the answer exactly,my question was does the dutastride continue from where finastride stopped?(cause they have same mechanism of action)
Yes, you can switch right away.
@@haircafekevin thanks brother Iam seeing the hair thinking and I said why I don't add dut so that it call help me more in hairline maybe thanks anybow
I was wondering if the excess estradiol when you take finasteride is the cause of healthier heart cause according to the study you showed at 15:02 taking Finas+4OHA+T increased the amount of heart muscle damage which makes think that E2 does the heavy lifting here
No doubt estrogen is beneficial, but in the same study they gave just DHT which increased the area of damage, so DHT was shown to play a negative role. It would have been interesting to see the aromatase inhibitor plus a 5AR blocker together, but I think the methodology was adequate to show that DHT had a negative role that was blocked by finasteride.
Truly passionate and knowledgeable people like Kevin are rare and they are above a whole "biohacking" community playing with fire on the basis of rumor, poor google-fu and wishful thinking. People don't even need to be convicend by his charisma alone, he puts the sources for everyone to check, there is no broscience here, but he is still an older brother figure even to you, youtube user who's reading this, it doesn't matter if you're older than him.
Starting Fin tomorrow and Im excited af. I have just introduced minoxidil into my routine aswell for my hair, eyebrows and beard. People say minoxidil can give you bad dark circles and lines on your face though so Im wondering if this is true? Thanks
Nah, it's BS. The whole minoxidil skin aging thing isn't based on any good evidence.
Check out my video on it.

@@haircafekevin Cheers man
As usual, something amazing, as we are accustomed to seeing you. I have a simple question, Kevin my big bro. Will there be any effects on the finasteride industry due to the political situation taking place in the world now? Will there be any effects in the coming term on its prices or hoe its availability in global markets for people?
I don't think so. It's all generic now, it is manufactured all over the world, and there is a lot of demand. So I don't think there will be any problems with availability or price, unless there is some earth-shaking global event, in which case maybe going bald will be the least of our problems.
Amazing research!! I have a question Kevin. If I'm not mistaken some cases of finasteride's side effects go away with continued use. You believe that this might be due to the time required for your body to adapt to the change in estrogen/testosterone balance. Correct me if I'm wrong.
So are there any studies on finasteride treatment protocols that slowly ramp up the dose over a few months from 0.1mg to 0.5mg per day? Would be interesting to see if that lowers the incidence of side effects.
What do you think?
It's true that in more than 50% of cases the sides go away, usually in the first year. However, I don't know of any studies looking at ramping up the dose. There are a few studies on microdosing, but it would be interesting if someone looked at ramping up the dose to see if that helps with the body's adjustment to the changing hormone levels.
king i started fin and after a week im having side effects , my testicles are hurting, i was using 1.25mg 3 times a week, what should i do know, should i go for topical fin or what. thank you i watch your videos a lot and you helped me so much, im not gonna give up!
Try lowering to .5 or .25 every other day and see if that helps. If it even makes it more tolerable then push through and the side effects will subside with time. After trying that i suppose you could try the topical route.
That will almost certainly be a transient side effect. Lower you dose further and try to push through. If not, consider switching to topical fin.
Hey choom does washing my hair with water in the shower cause hair loss or make it worse? I’m on fin (almost 3 years) and I got a lot of hair shedding in the shower if I put water on my hair… is this bad to do frequently for hair loss?
Nah, all that is hair that would've fallen out anyways. You just see it more in the shower because of the increased friction.
Hair growth is cyclical and everybody sheds in the shower.
@@haircafekevinthank you! And Kev do you think there’s a risk for depression with switching to dut? I was on it a few months and had mental health struggles but I wasn’t sure if it was situational and I blamed it on the dut… is it possible this was just nocebo? I just liked the strength of dut but wondering what you think :)!
@lbjmvpnzs No, it won't cause depression, it isn't even a side effect of dut. My next video is on this.
@@haircafekevinoh let’s go I’m excited for that video! What about ED? Do studies show it’s similar to fin with ED side effects ?
@@lbjmvpnzs Yeah, it is about the same. Check out my video titled "The truth about dutasteride's side effects."
Hey Kev, what is best to use with topical minoxidil? Melatonin, retinoic acid, azelaic acid, caffeine or all? I'm preparing a mix, which ones do you think I should add?
Tretinoin is the only thing I'd consider adding, but only if you are a non responders to topical minoxidil.
The rest of the compounds are not backed by any strong evidence.
Hey Kev, if i get sides from fin, would dut be a good option to try? or would the fin sides indicate id feel the same on dut?
It is possible you'll respond better to dutasteride. It is a different drug after all.
Another option is to lower your dose of finasteride to 0.5 or 0.2 MG daily or every other day.
@@haircafekevin Appreciate the quick reply. yea was taking .5mg MWF for around 1 year 2 diff times. recently saw Dr. Couto in Madrid who told me to try dut so thats prob what ill do. any idea of the minimum effective dose?
What’s the difference in effect for dutasteride ?
@@Johnny.Action0.5 mg of dut every other day is probably the minimum I would start with.
@@haircafekevin willdo! thanks again my man. keep killin it!
Can fin works for 10 years?
Does the temperature of finasteride bottle have effects on the efficacy of the pill?
No, finasteride can remain efficacious in our gut which can be 99 degrees Fahrenheit. You probably still want to avoid letting it sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time though.
Just keep it in a shaded area, you can even put it in your refrigerator.
that you finasterideman for saving our hairs again🙏

Hey kevin, do u think taking a week off minoxodil just to give my scalp an break could cause hair shedding?
I doubt it. Maybe it is just a coincidence.
@@haircafekevin so is it fine to take a week off?
@@Cendeyu Sure, but don't do it too often.
What do you think about that new hims finasteride and minoxidil in one pill?
It probably works, but personally I prefer topical minoxidil.
