- Guitarist Reba Meyers, guitarist/vocalist founder of dynamic, electronic-laced metal band Code Orange takes us on a trip through her two pedal boards. Her economically populated touring board and the larger more experimental “fun” board which she uses for recordings that sports several EarthQuaker Devices, including the new Astral Destiny, the Afterneath reverb, Grand Orbiter phase machine, Sea Machine chorus and the granddaddy of delay, the Disaster Transport SR all through an 100 watt EVH 5150 III. Marvel as Meyers creates and explains her love of glorious noises using a sonic combo pack of wah pedal, delay, reverb, ring mod and other products to ensure she “turns some fucking heads” at her band’s shows.
Code Orange’s most recent album is the stripped-down, near acoustic live album “Under the Skin” which was released a few months after their much sonically heavier and critically hailed fourth studio album, “Underneath.”
“Honestly it makes me sad that I can’t have them on my touring board sometimes,” Meyers said of her EQD gear.
“But in reality, they’re, for me, more inspirational in terms of writing and creating and recording and all that because there’s so much freedom with it and you can use them in so many different ways that I don’t even know if they were intended to be used for.”

It’s the chrome panther, it resonates and the upper mid panther frequencies just give crushing panther tone. I tried a real panther but he tore off my ear and ate my poodle, so trying to glue an actual panther to your cab is not helpful. Wise choice with the chrome one.

Love her use of the harmonist. It's so creative. It's so refreshing to hear these amazing young guitar players prioritize the songwriting while still being technical. I grew up as a shredder and regret not working on my rhythm chops.
It's never too late. play some power chords on bass for a week and everything is smoother from there

This is also tbh the best Board to Death I've seen so far, she doesn't just go through her pedals saying "Umm... this one sounds good, it's like... real whooshy, umm..." -- Instead, she shows real examples and she's really expressive about everything. You can tell she knows what she's doing and she's used to her board. Too many of the other people are either incredibly boring about it, or they don't even know their own board.
I used to use a lot pedals, and I finally simplified it with a line 6 hxfx that has just about everything for noise parts or ambient parts. I’m also able to switch channels as well with my 5150II. I can set up a noise gate in front boosted with an od and also set up a noise gate in the loop so it’s completely silent without all the preamp noise. Also use an expression pedal for whammy fx.

I will always love and appreciate bands who stick the more analog, spaceship tap dance route instead of FX processing and rack units. Loved Code Orange since the Code Orange Kids days and their first records. Saw them a handful of times over the years and they have always just been consistently growing as musicians.

Tuners downward all the way. I’ve always liked those Vipers played on Code Orange Kids and Adventures; & Taylors on Lilith. I like the ESP LTD strat-style looking guitars. Honestly my dream electric is an FGN Mythic with those tuners pointed down like that. They’re also great guitars I used to own a vintage Fuji-Gen Fender Tele so owning a new modern FGN is just the dream upgrade for me. I really like this signature guitar. I just got a parlor guitar after not having a guitar for a while & it’s so therapeutic. She is one of my favorite musicians ever.

I’m pretty fucking old and Reba is one of my favorite guitar players. I got rid of my cry baby and got the AMT when I saw that’s what she uses. It’s way fucking better. I really like her use of the rhythmic noise almost as a percussion instrument
