- During the five day Operation Tramline ending on Friday 13 November 2020, officers working in collaboration with Highways England and supported by the Operations Patrol Unit and the Special Constabulary detected a record breaking 317 offences including 69 drivers who were using a handheld mobile phone whilst driving
Please do more of this! I am an hgv driver and I see it every single day! Keep up with the good work! 🙏👍🏻
Go back to sleep fool do you have a halo above your head?
I agree 100%...I also see HGV drivers using handheld mobile phones while driving... Driving a 30-ton lorry while using a handheld phone..It is unreal.
The 6 penalty points and a paltry £200 fine are obviously not working... Time for the law to be overhauled and a driving ban for anyone caught using a handheld phone while driving.
This is brilliant. As a motorcyclist these arrogant drivers pose a significant threat, even a bit of a swerve on a motorway could be major for us two wheelers. Keep up the great work.
A agree but motor bikes are far from innocent
The fact bikes are faster under exceleration is our only advantage with the likes of some cagers on the road nowadays not that I condone excess speed but when a situation can be dangerous to the rider getting the f..k outta there sometimes is the only option. Try riding a bike, and you will soon understand.
@@gingernutpreacherdon’t think you’ll find many riders going along the road texting / watching videos as they ride
@guyr7351 you never been in London leeds Birmingham Crewe have you?
@@gingernutpreacher yes I have driven across a large portion of the UK and can say I’ve not seen motorcyclists texting while they are riding along, unlike motorists in cars.
If they do then they are just asking for trouble as a biker is far more vulnerable and both hands are required especially in an emergency to control the bike, and yes I also used to be a motorcyclist as well
I do hope that this trial showed that a continual programme is needed for this type of work - thank you for the hard work to try and keep the rest of us safe!
These observation solo units are fantastic. Keep up the good work guys & make our roads safer for everyone. Respect.
I couldn't believe that lorry driver. He was even oblivious to the police car and sirens behind him.
Pigs
Proves the point of how distracted drivers are whilst using a mobile device...
Driving licence from a Christmas cracker in a lax country, probably.
From abroad left hooker😮
He's finished now.
HUGE fines and NINE points please. These dangerous distracted idiots need to be taken off the roads.
I very nearly had a head-on collision on a narrow road with a woman who was "playing" on her phone. I used my horn and braked simultaneously, she came out of her "phone stupor" and we stopped just inches apart. I didn't have a dashcam, if I had the footage would have gone to Roads Policing.
My flat looks over a busy T-junction and EVERY day I see people using their phones whilst turning, coming up to the give way markings etc.
Drivers just don't care - increase the fines and points for this offence - too many innocent people are killed by these selfish idiots.
Vehicles need to be fitted with signal blockers that activate when the vehicle's ignition is switched on. The chances of being caught by a police officer are practically zero.
@raithrover1976 can't be done. Companies use tracking or sat navigation that require mobile data.
@@pullenukit absolutely can be done, why do you think they call it sat nav-satellite navigation, you don’t need to connect a satellite nav to a phone in any way
In Australia the fines start at 600 bucks and 3 to 6 demerit points and even poss loss of licence if you get caught more than a couple of times don't know why they don't do it here police revenue would sky rocket in a year be able to afford more officers on the beat 👍🏼😔
Well done need more operations like this all over the U.K you have most probably saved someone's life today.
Two years on this behaviour is still prevalent across the UK. Much harsher penalties are long overdue.
Great to see you taking action, it’s such a common sight on the M6 through Staffordshire and Cheshire.
It's such a common site everywhere in the country unfortunately.
Thank you - as a driver doing many miles all over the UK - this pro active approach to catch the dickhead drivers out there is appreciated
If the police carry on working like this there will be no road users in the uk.
@@bnkrpt-brkrbecause both hands should be on the steering wheel aswell as both eyes and full concentration on the road?, I wouldn't trust someone not concentrating to use a power tool so why should someone be able to drive on road when not concentrating? 🤔
@@bnkrpt-brkr lol. so true .... im on the road 5 hours a day 7 days a week and its very rare to see someone who's actually concentrating.
@@louistowers526 he has a good point tbh. as you can see from my comment ... i even see people driving with P-passed badge on there car who have 0 concentration or are on there phone.
@@mrpantur7280 ofcourse don't get me wrong I see we're he's coming from, the main thing is the government doesn't make the laws any more stringent/stricter otherwise yh there wouldn't be many people wanting to drive, but from a perspective we're someone could die in a motorway pile-up from a dangerous driver not concentrating on driving, I'd sooner get home to a warm dinner rather than being cut out from a wreck. this doesn't just benefit me but other people, have you seen the video were someone driving while on there phone plows into the back off a parked semi truck?, there head was found on the back seat.
People really don’t realise just how dangerous being on your phone or being generally distracted for a couple seconds can be. Punishments for this kind of thing need to higher
But if you asked anyone, driver or not, do you think your driving would be better or worse if you had your eyes shut every single person would get the right answer
Could you let us know the punishments handed out if possible in future? Hopefully that will deter a few more. Good work!
Six points minimum..big insrance hike and possibly bye, bye job especially for the LGV driver's.
Shut up
@@Luton-Mick drivers
What i find dangerous right now is how many people tailgate in a 30mph zone then they go on the motorway and wont go above 45 to join a free flowing motorway
@LeVi they just dont care man im glad were allowed undertake them now if possible
This is good policing. Phone users are a dangerous menace.
Permanent bans needed, refusal for insurance cover. Whatever it takes to keep these utter clown off the road.
Being high up in a cab,
Whenever you look down at a car/van
at the lights or roundabout...probably 50% of the time there's a phone in somebody's hand...that's a lot of vehicles!!!
A very good example of the police serving the public good and enhancing road safety
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant proactive policing.
Nothing can be that important that you need to text while driving
Lol, sometimes when I'm driving my truck I turn the radio down to concentrate, I wouldn't even attempt to text whilst driving.
Me too, most likely when you are getting near to your drop 😂😂
"Just need to turn the radio down so I can see where I'm going..." It's so true lol
Absolutely great work chaps! You should be doing this every day and maybe the message will get through to these ignorant selfish morons that it is completely unacceptable behaviour and they WILL get caught. An automatic 6 month ban, car impounded and sold at auction with the proceeds used to support more detection should be mandated for this crime.
Had the pleasure of one passing me on the M1 yesterday, I passed with flying colours but the two other trucks in front of me got pulled 😆
Im curious to know how long it took the truck driver in the 2nd clip to realise the police were wanting to pull him over?
He’s still driving.
I drive thousands of miles a year, mostly motorway. While mobile phone use has diminished over the years there is still a huge issue with foreign drivers, especially lgv drivers from eastern europe.
And with their feet up or laptop on the dash.
Rubbish, plenty of UK drivers still do it
@@derf9465 Who said they didn't? Not me.
@@derf9465 Nobody said any different. Calm down Karen.
I hear you're a racist now, father
Touching a phone mounted on a dash is one thing, but this is outrageous
I’m a HGV driver and had this happen to me today, wasn’t doing anything wrong but I tell you what it scares the shit out of you, deffo a wake up call!
Excellent work there, i see it every day on my motorway travels.
I love videos like this, keep them coming! I love the way the unmarked car comes up from behind! Caught red handed
From oblivious to oblivion, that’s how it happens.
Police get a lot of disrespect from the public for going after people for what they deem minor offences. When families get struck by a hgv with a driver playing on a phone all of a sudden it's a different perspective. Keep up the good work
I don't see it as a minor offence, as a motorcyclist, i see this as something which could kill a rider, in fact a female friend of mine lost her left leg above the knee because a driver was on her phone. You are more likely to be hit by a driver on their phone during the day, than a drunk driver
We need more of this.
Hi guy this epic👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
I am pissing myself 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yesterday, at about 6.15 I saw a car driving onto the m6 j23 southbound. The slip road is only short, and, has a concrete panel at the end due to ongoing roadworks. I use this every day, and even so, you treat it carefully or else. In front of me was an idiot who had his phone on a dash cradle, scrolling through photos! While joining the m6! .
Keep this good work up.
It’s quite frightening to go driving on the road not knowing who you could be passing or being overtaken by someone not concentrating by using a phone, I certainly couldn’t drive and have a conversation with someone on a phone. And also try to concentrate on the situation around me whilst driving!….
I can talk on the phone while driving (Bluetooth obviously) but nothing in depth, nothing more than a quick call to say I’ll be delayed
This programme needs to be rolled-out across the country. Those forces who don't, please consider doing it for us, the public.
I also wish they'd also sort out middle lane hoggers. That's a video I would love to see
As I said in my comment it’s driver attitude and most people have a lot of bad attitude toward others on the road sadly so phone use isn’t the be all and end all of driver issues..
That’s truly unbelievable.
👏 👏 more of this police. As a long distance daily commuter I’m getting fed up of people FaceTiming whilst driving , sat at green lights on their phones , doing under the speed limit holding up slow lane to use their phones whilst driving . It’s ridiculous that the UK has become this dumb.
Who ever created the mobile also created a monster
I just wish more Police Forces did this and published it on YT. Hampshire Police appear to be woefully under-resourced in this area as you see this multiple times every day. While you are at it remind the lane hogs that the outer lanes are there for overtaking. Well done Warwickshire Police.
I am glad these guys are on our motorways it horrifies me watching people using the phone while driving a crash at those speeds is death-defying 😢
I was watching this on my phone on my way to work this morning.
Shocking stuff, well done police!!
A tractor unit being able to pull along side of a car means that the speed of the car is probably fluctuating up and down between 50 and probably about 80.
I'm a coach driver and see this all the time keep up the good work 👏
Fantastic work lads , there's no excuse for anyone on their phone , we need more of these , police in undercover HGV s also a good idea for catching drivers have a policeman on the bus watching out for phone users around towns
great work, great shame the penalties are woefully inadequate..£1000 fine & 12 months ban minimum...2nd offense permanent loss of license
Just Why Not Death, Make The Punishment Death. Come On You Have To Be Reasonable Now, The Only Fair Punishment Is Death Isn't It. Anything Else Is Woefully Inadequate.
@@johnparr347yrsand2 greame here is a fruit case
@@bigduphusaj162 If I could send you a yes meme I would mate.
£20.000 fine and a lifetime ban from driving.
Driving standards in the UK are the worst they’ve ever been.
Well done to those officers. We need more of this type of policing on every road in the country.
I've seen some scary stuff here that that lot beats everything. Makes me scared to use a motorway which together with no hard-shoulders means I now clutter up B roads & pretty towns & villages to make my journeys, prepared to allow for the extra time & mileage(cost).
Imagine driving along in a HGV and seeing an officer in a tractor unit next to you 😂😂
One of my colleagues had them sat next to him for five miles between Toddington and Luton, waiting for him to do something wrong. He knew they were there.
Keep up the good work, personally I think these people should have their phones confiscated
Phones - and their cars impounded close to where they were caught out. With release fees in the thousands.
Brilliant operation by Warwickshire Police.
When a driver is not completely in control of the vehicle it becomes more like a weapon that can injure and kill. If someone was on foot with a weapon visible they would be a danger to everyone nearby and would be challenged and apprehended. The same should happen to these dangerous morons.
Great work guys, keep it up. Do it daily, i am on these roads daily ij a truck and i am thinking about quitting due to the standards from all drivers. They are addicted to touching the phone. Ibcan tell a phone user from 500 yards away. Keep doing it, Ty
Glad to see the police do this because the amount of devastation to innocent families this distraction can cause is incalculable. Ban them for life I’d say for risking life! Well done @warrickshirepolice
The geezer with the broken straps, texting, and no seatbelt possesses a very impressive level of stupidity, his bank balance must have taken a large hit after they were finished with him..
He'll just have toddled-off back to his own country with little consequences if he never returns.
I approve of this policing .. great work
Truly shocking! We need far more of this kind of policing.
I absolutely love the way the police catch bad drivers. Sone of these drivers should be banned for life.
The police need more of these tractor units, the only way they can see into the cabs of hgvs, good work more needed.
Great video. We should get more of you police out there doing this for us. Well done.
Great to see you taking action, it’s such a common sight.
Good to see officers actually doing crime prevention exercises and proactive policing.
Just make it a instant ban and a big fine
Insurance companies should have access to these videos with info on vehicle registration numbers.
We see this all the time in Yorkshire counted 9 people on the mobile in one short journey and we saw two men sat in the boot facing forward which of course has no seat belts.
Good work 👍 get these dangerous people off our roads
That's awesome.
We need that here in Australia.
Finally, I can say that for once the cops are doing something constructive.
It is more than likely do have that in oz. It is just that they have not caught you ....... yet. 😅
I saw a clip years ago, where Australian Police, were using motorbikes to catch drivers on their phones in traffic
Could you take our illegal migrants we have here to Australia also.
@@stuartdove8814
That is a negative.
On the phone when driving should be 12 points...
We need stronger penalties
Excellent idea, never suspect an HGV😮
This makes me so cross. The lack of focus on driving while on the phone is so disturbing.
It is absolutely terrifying how often you see other drivers doing this! Need more road policing patrols!
I want a TV show just for this.
30 mins later the truck driver receives a traffic notification on his phone: "tractor causes 3 hour delay on motorway with multiple casualties". 'Oh dear good job I missed that!' Proceeds to play games on his phone
Good im glad they are finally taking it seriously.
Filmed in 2020! I’m a delivery driver in Wales and I see this every frickin day here in 2024! It’ll never stop unless phone signals are cut in vehicles somehow?
Keep it up , every day not just for five days
Great work lads, ignorant potential killers/family destroyers and for what!!!! I just wish it was an automatic ban.
Some people need to think about what could happen if you crash while on there phones!! ☠💀
Brilliant as ex job and motorcycle rider well done. Worth every penny of public money.
Thats great work Warwickshire Police . No wonder accidents happen with irresponsible people using mobiles behind the wheel.
Good job officers but just one technical point you need to have the cameras with a polar rising filter so it will get rid of the reflections in the glass
It’s been proven that looking at your phone is as dangerous and drink driving yet still there is only points. 12 month ban for using your phone will help stop the majority of offenders. Just like drink drivers it won’t stop them all but it will help in the long run.
6 points and a £200 fine from March 2023. I seriously have no sympathy for people doing this.
Selfish and dangerous.
Fantastic to see this. Just a shame you guys aren't patrolling all over the place, because I see idiots driving in excess of the speed limit whilst on their phones.
Great work by the police. Keeping our roads safe.
Excellent Roads Policing, catching dangerous idiots rather than hiding and catching someone marginally over the speed limit
Excellent....... no excuse for it.....
We need to see the footage of them getting pulled over as well and the b/s excuses they try to use to justify it 😂
This needs rolling out nationwide
We need more of these trucks on the motorways. Driving is a privilege, not a right.
Strange how midern tech in vehicles for heating, wipers, seat adjustments, camera mirrors, all require you to take eyes off the road and focus on a monitor type control in centre of cab. This is cars and trucks.
These are the idiots that cause fatal road traffic collisions
Ok who was operating the camera when filming the car and driver in the outside lane Driving without due care and attention and one more point Do You Use An Operators Licence whilst using this tractor unit as it seems that it is being used to generate income totally agree with you on mobile phone usage or watching videos when driving should not happen at all
Handsfree is less than 10£. I bought one from China 4 years ago for 5£. Streaming calls and music from my phone and it still work’s brilliant. These so called professional drivers shouldn’t be on the roads.
fxxking unbelievable some drivers are like today really boils my blood when i see people on their phones while driving
If we could get £100 from every driver caught using a phone at the wheel then the revenue raised would help fund more police officers.
Here in Australia the fines are steep, last I heard was $550 could be more, plus the demerit points. The daft mobile phone using drivers are creating great revenue for our government.
Great to see. Maybe when people see they are being seen and prosecuted, they may start leaving the phone in their pocket.
Excellent work, time to rid the roads of these selfish, inconsiderate and dangerous drivers.
Ban all of them for putting other motorists lives at risk. What is sooooo important that you have to look at your phone while driving. What is sooooo important that you can't wait till you stop. Idiots one and all. Excellent vid. I hope it wakes a few people up. 👍🏼
Using the phone while driving is an epidemic in the UK. Two decades of policing have done nothing to dent it.
