Jungle Survival Food: Brazilian Cherry

- On the homestead in Hawaii I harvest some Brazilian cherries. Very similar to guava this plant would make a great survival food in the jungle. With plenty of vitamins and sugars your survival situation would quickly become much more pleasant. Brazilian Cherry is a hardwood.

Dude I'm Brazilian and I've been all around the country, and I actually have never seen this fruit before!
vittor Rocha era muito comum em toda a região de mata Atlântica. Mas com o crescimento desordenado e loteamentos espécies nativas como grumixamas, cambucis, gabirobas e Araçás. Praticamente desapareceram. Apenas agora a Embrapa. Resolveu repovoar áreas de reflorestamento com espécies nativas.

Hey , The tree is called a Grumichama. I have one . I live in south Florida so we have similar climates. Man they taste good my kids fight over them whenever there in season. Great videos.

I have cherries here, I buy them from Wal-mart or Cullins. I bet Brazilian Cherries taste 100 percent better than the cherries I get from Wal-mart.

You're killing me spitting all those seeds around LOL, I'm sure the Food Forest loves them, but damn man, how does a girl get a good seed to grow and be sure it's ACTUALLY a Brasilian cherry seed and not some bing seed they got at walmart? I ask this because I buy a lot of seeds from homesteaders and farmers across the world via various sites and when you're planting a long term seed, a lot of trust is involved. Needless to say, I've been bamboozled a time or two, have some jabuticaba seeds planted now...guess we'll see....in a long time. Do you sell any seeds from your own plants? Like that ice cream bean or these cherries or your cacao? you seem like a groovy cat, I'd trust seeds I bought from you. So....where does a gal get this tree?

I planted a couple of Grumichamas here in my yard in Florida last year, but they are growing soooo slowly. One of them is just 3 feet tall and it already has flowers this year, but I wish it grew quicker. I'm dying to try one. Your soil must be loaded with nutrients. We have sand here so I'm fertilizing it as much as possible trying to get a growth spurt. Any maintenance tips?
Sand is the best soil.

I am literally growing my plants in cinder/pumice, sand, peatmoss with a compost layer on the surface.@@MasterKenfucius
@@davidkoba So you're NOT growing your plants in just sand. You're growing them in cinder, peatmoss AND compost in addition to the sand. Please don't waste my time.
My citrus is in pure sand. The compost is the first three inches. If you watch the video you would realize that soil is 90% minerals. But hey if you choose to be an ignorant fuck suit yourself. @@MasterKenfucius
