  • Not long ago I removed this dam. The dam is here again, but I am taking care of it. Removed and drained till the bottom level.

    One sure thing about beaver dams, if the beaver isn't taken out, you will always have a dam to bust!

    I'm a comment to make and I wish everyone understand!!!
    It doesn't matter how much or how little he takes out ofthe dam.
    As long as there are these beaver majority of dams will be rebuilt. Even those big dams it only takes few days to rebuild.

    It’s amazing how well you know how to dismantle the dams. Sometimes it’s a matter of removing key logs.

    Another removal well done. Its good you give the beaver something to do in their spare time. The beaver are becoming a problem when they interfere with the roads. Keep up the great work.

    Opening the dam with the excavator would clear all of the mud so there is not just a narrow slot for the beavers to rebuild so fast making it tough for them to rebuild might make them leave this dam and build another elsewhere they will have this repaired in a day or two at Max

      Many spots he visits are too soft for excavators and many are too wooded to get there. So excavators either are too busy or cant reach

      They will rebuild in 2 weeks instead of 1 week :) That's the different :)

    Beavers are tenacious of their building spots. If they picked that spot, you likely will be back no matter what you do.

    i have found that, long handle post hole - fense post diggers-- works great when u get to the finish.. it digs and grabs the drit mud and sticks, very easily. love you vids! i wish you luck all the time! be safe and be happy!! Cheers from the Woods of Maine !

    Sometimes it’s nice for you to have a bit of help from the Excavator, you need to be careful as in time all that bending down may give you Back Pain in later life xx

    Local Beaver Union #134 is strong. They don't take dam removal lightly.

      In our country most of the time Autumn is like in calendar. But now when climate is changing Autumn becomes more and more warmer ;)

      @@Kenislovas - The beginning and the end of the seasons doesn't change, no matter how much you "twist" the calendar to you preferences. This year April and May were hotter than usual down here but that doesn't mean Summer started earlier. 😉

    Might want to have the excavator guys come over anyway - give yourself an extra week before the beavers build it back up. 😆

    The more you just cut out a small piece the bigger they build it up, how come you dont remove more than such a small cut?

      A LOT more work, for not that much gain. Draining the water is the goal. If the beavers get discouraged and leave, fine. If not, do it again.

      Few times I saw the beaver. Hunters can shoot beaver in hunting season. Hunters can't shoot beaver in the peoples living area. Trap they can, but they must have a license.
