You seem to have completely forgotten about Jyrik's Blessing, a constant effect of this staff that gives you a bit of extra magicka and magicka regeneration, which makes it even more interesting.
Yeah, kinda surprised since usually he's much more thorough than this. It's a pretty solid reason to use the staff. Then again, he _LITERALLY_ just read the page on the wikia outloud while showing stock footage of the thing in action, and it's not mentioned there... so he probably had no idea it did that.
Minor correction, Faralda's test is a random spell. Flame Atronach, Firebolt, Healing Hands and Candlelight are the ones I've seen. Also, grab the staff QUICKLY. Tolfdir has a really bad habit of grabbing and using it in the fight. I think he'll sell it back to you but at a much higher price than free.
yeah its pretty random but on the bright side if you don't have the spell already she will sell you the spell for cheap. Just have to make sure you have enough mp to cast the spell. The Necromancer's Amulet helps with that though.
Andrew McGlame the hardest part of making the elswyer Fondue early on is getting both the the Eidar cheese wheel and the moon sugar. the cheese tends to be easier to get a hold of but most vendors will not sell it. While the Khajit caravans will sell the moon sugar. Very rarely alchemists will sell it but you will usually have to track down the caravan.
I remember the first time I tried this quest, it took me 2 hours to even start the dungeon because Tolfdir got stuck in a snowdrift at the top of the excavation site and I couldn't get him off of it. I finally fixed it by shouting him off of the cliff and down into the excavation site.
AlduinMenendez Sometimes she asks you to do firebolt. That's a great way to purchase the firebolt spell only for 30 gold. I mean if you just started a new char. Cause of u wanna buy it later from her or another merchant. It usually costs much more.
Just one little correction about entering the college of winterhold. She not always going to be requesting you to summon a flame atronach. I've had her request me to cast Fire Rune and Fast Healing spells before.
This staff actually uses a different type of lightning bolt to the spell version as normal staves do. The staff of jyrik Gaulderson uses the same lighting as the effect from the shout 'storm call'.
there are more hidden effects when equipping the staff that you forgot, like increased magicka reserves and one other thing I cant remember. Find them in the current effects tab in the magicka menu
just a correction: faralda's test can be like 5~10 different spells(If I recall correctly, I got flames in my first playthrough and healing in the second) but if you are the dragonborn, you can also use a shout to enter
Great to have on a melee character that struggles with mages, you turn the range advantage on it's head and, with their magicka depleted, you can afford to charge and finish them in case the melee enemies are closing in on you or you just want to save some charges.
Actualy Camel Feralda will ask you to use a random spell from one of the school of magic :) for me it was fireball and magelight in two diferent playtroughs and I am sure i had to use conjuration aswell.
This staff is so powerful with it's instant cast mechanic ( you dont need to hold that left mouse button for a second ) but it is also buggy animation-wise and runs out ouf charges really quickly.
This is 1 of my 3 favorite staves in the game right up there with the Staff of Magnus and the Sanguine Rose. I was never really a fan of the Skull of Corruption. This and the Staff of Magnus are ideal for taking a mage's spell casting ability. 1 of the best and most underrated unique staves in the game easily.
4:25 I'm going to have to dispute your math here. "Depleting their magicka reserves TWICE as quickly" suggests that you have forgotten that Lightning damage deals HALF the spells damage to their magicka. That makes the Staff of Jyrick Gauldurson deal 4 times as much damage as a lightning spell of the same damage. The math is as follows,: Lightning damage deals X damage to hp that same spell then deals X/2 to magicka If X is 25 then 25/2 = 12.5 The Staff of Jyrik Gaulduerson deals 25 damage to hp the Staff also deals 50 damage to magicka because it doubles the damage when applied to magicka rather than cutting it in half 50 / 12.5 = 4, not 2
Why thank you. I would rather compare this to the Staff of Magnus as staves which are better used for disarming your magic wielding enemies than dealing direct damage. Though since the Staff of Jyrik Gauldurson is lightning damage it stands to reason that it may be affected by the augmented shock perk (if staves are affected by the augmented perks) which I think would make for an interesting comparison. I know I have a habit of giving you flack but I wouldn't be watching your videos if I didn't think that you make good content.
Hey Camel, I've been watching your videos for a pretty long time now and I've loved them all. I was just wondering if you could answer a question for me. How many mods does the ps4 edition of Skyrim have? When I look on the internet it says 38 or close to that, but on the website of Bethesda when you filter ps4 only its over 1000 mods. Keep up the good work and I hope you can answer my question. Cheers, A loyal subscriber
I have never really use staffs due to the mechanic of needing high level skill in that school to make effective use of that staff. For example, destruction for fireball staff.
She doesn't make you summon a flame Atronach it's a random spell I believe it's actually reminiscent of what your highest spell class is it's probably a novice spell when I came here she wanted me to do the Flames spell
This isn't very clear. On the linguistics of both ancient nordic tongue and dovahzul, there are two dominant accents for letter J; one is the english and the other is the germanic. The latter sounds more in place, especially since both languages sound very (old) germanic, hence also the use of the heavily rolled letter R.
I love the chain lightning spell I always wanted chain lightning staff but can't find one is there a place where their will always be a chain lightning staff?
Does this staff benefit from any skills or perks. or is it always just the way you find it? Also, is it a leveled? I'm assuming no since no level difference for the effect was mentioned, but I wanted to check.
So is Camelworks the same person as Fudgemuppet? The two channels both have a similar narrator, but they acknowledge each other as another person? Also, the "grab that boi" makes me wince.
Fuck, I already sold it. I am more interested in incorporating a staff into one of my play styles though. I think alteration or conjuration would go with a staff nicely.
Someone needs to make a mod that retexures all the named staves with new unique looks. I am trying to use the candy cane mod staffs to replace the unique staves.
First of all: Faralda and Niranye: sexiest female Altmers (and not as assholey as the vast majority of other altmers are) Second of all: 1:28 And so with a quick accidental bump into each other, Onmund and J'zargo discovered their love for each other, (just kidding) Finally: Getting this staff when you're a low level sucks due to only being able to get a less than 30 shots to deplete the staff and having to get 2 lesser soul gems or 1 common soul gem to recharge the staff every time (barely any money or perks) AND it doesn't appear to follow the "Chracters with a higher Destruction skill gets more uses out of a Destruction spell staff" shit the game claims in the loading screens. (It doesn't scale with your level as you get more powerful)
To me I don't see the point of damage magicka or stamina when absorb is better and when you know that the higher level mages have around 900 or more magicka.
You seem to have completely forgotten about Jyrik's Blessing, a constant effect of this staff that gives you a bit of extra magicka and magicka regeneration, which makes it even more interesting.

Well I know what my lightning High Elf is using, thanks for the extra info
1:10 "Whoa, now... ease off on the magic..."
What? You told him to do that Faralda!
Ohh Skyrim
Bethesda back at it again with the "extra features"
This guide is just gold son, or you could say it was Jyrik Gauldurson ;)
Haha damn that's a good one!
So that's why the thumbnail backgrounds for both your vids are similar, right?
FudgeMuppet OMG ITS FUDGEMUPPET
Knowledge Crump For someone with the name Knowledge Crump and uses that many emoticons I dont believe you
Jyrik Goldurson
Minor correction, Faralda's test is a random spell. Flame Atronach, Firebolt, Healing Hands and Candlelight are the ones I've seen. Also, grab the staff QUICKLY. Tolfdir has a really bad habit of grabbing and using it in the fight. I think he'll sell it back to you but at a much higher price than free.
She always wants me to cast a fear spell
c1nderh3lm Gaming I've never actually seen that. Good to know it's on the list!!
yeah its pretty random but on the bright side if you don't have the spell already she will sell you the spell for cheap. Just have to make sure you have enough mp to cast the spell. The Necromancer's Amulet helps with that though.
Elswyer Fondue also really helps. I keep at least a few samples for tough fights.
I have beat the game so many times and never knew it was there THANKS.
I remember the first time I tried this quest, it took me 2 hours to even start the dungeon because Tolfdir got stuck in a snowdrift at the top of the excavation site and I couldn't get him off of it. I finally fixed it by shouting him off of the cliff and down into the excavation site.
With Unofficial Skyrim Patch, wielding the staff also grants you Jyrik's Blessing, which increase your maximum magicka and magicka regeneration.
That's pretty good
黃一峰 not really worth it if it patches the black star making it way easier to recharge it
how did i miss that staff when i did that quest it was on the table.....oh wait i used unrelenting force :/
tolfdir can also pick it up
The intro test by Faralda is actually a multiple of things. Sometimes she asks you to cast Fear, Flames...etc..
AlduinMenendez Sometimes she asks you to do firebolt. That's a great way to purchase the firebolt spell only for 30 gold. I mean if you just started a new char. Cause of u wanna buy it later from her or another merchant. It usually costs much more.
Most of the time she ask me to cast magelight
Do a guide for The Gauldur amulet it's a fun quest for a very useful amulet
Comet Amagi until you reach lvl 25

Just one little correction about entering the college of winterhold. She not always going to be requesting you to summon a flame atronach. I've had her request me to cast Fire Rune and Fast Healing spells before.
also if you know shouts, you can tell her, and she'll request to see a shout in action. fus works, and yol among others
or cast a fear spell
I decided to *G R A B T H A T B O Y E E E E*
RonaldMcJuicy grab me boi

RonaldMcJuicy officer I swear I didn’t mean it like that

you get 25 max magica and i think 25 magika regen.
not much but eventually really good for a low lvl mage.
Yep! Very powerful for low lvl magic oriented chars. Greb dat booyeee!
just a correction:
faralda's test can be like 5~10 different spells(If I recall correctly, I got flames in my first playthrough and healing in the second)
but if you are the dragonborn, you can also use a shout to enter
(they are all basic spells)

That dabbing bandit at 5:22 though
Lolllll
Peep the fight that almost broke out a lil after 1:20
i never knew this weapon existed , thanx for the guide
the coledge test is base on your spell casting skill (or randomly chosen between your current highest spell skills.
Now I want to do an arcane sniper playstyle.
I have done this exact build before the vid came out
what do u mean?

I got scared af when I couldn’t hurt Jyrik I was like: *holy fuck how under leveled am I*
So where did the grab that boi meme come from?
1:29 gotta love Brelyna

This staff also gives a passive magika and regen buff when holding it
Legend has it camelworks will respond if you make a early original comment.
Not tonight, i gtg out to dinner lad
Camelworks Dinner? It's fuckin 2:30 in the morning in Cali. Where are you at, Mars?
Maybe somewhere over in Asia or something
He's in Australia I think

He won’t answer.
OOOOOH NOICE MY PUN KINDA GOT IN THE VIDEO
Huh, might just use this one. I'm making a sneaky thief mage who uses electric magic and summoned weapons and this might be cool to have.
I have never really use staffs due to the mechanic of needing high level skill in that school to make effective use of that staff. For example, destruction for fireball staff.
Matt Brown shock mastery doesn't effect the staff
Does overall destruction school effect the damage or number of uses from a staff?
Great video broski..
I hated how staffs were implemented they should augment spells not cast shitty ones at the cost of soul gems, its not like magicka is hard to come by
madscientistshusta you should be able to hit people with them too and/or block
She doesn't make you summon a flame Atronach it's a random spell I believe it's actually reminiscent of what your highest spell class is it's probably a novice spell when I came here she wanted me to do the Flames spell
This Staff is Op
I would love a video for the staff of Magnus, it always confused me
How does it work, and does Morokei use it in combat?
Excellent for my Gandalf build just need a smoking pipe mod and a good robe and i am good
SUH DUDE
Ah, Greb dat boyie!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"...or if youre feeling a little bit more adventurous, you could grab that boyyy"
I've completed the winterhold quest line several times and not once have I noticed that staff
You should do a guide to the other gauldur items.
I literally got this weapon yesterday
I got it a few days ago when I decided to power through the College of Winterhold quest line in one night
nice
Could you do a video on your modlist?
Greb det boiiiiii
Not gonna lie, don't know if I knew this existed...also I think it's pronounced (J)Yrik, just makes the most sense to me :P
eh dollet Yea ur right, the J is silent
Goshawk in most Germanic and Norse languages the 'j' is generally silent or pronounced as a 'y'
xTobeh xGodfreh Yea I thought so
This isn't very clear. On the linguistics of both ancient nordic tongue and dovahzul, there are two dominant accents for letter J; one is the english and the other is the germanic. Might be what you meant, but I always that it was Yeerik
This + black star is so good who needs Magicka
I love the chain lightning spell I always wanted chain lightning staff but can't find one is there a place where their will always be a chain lightning staff?
Can I get a reply please, Camel? Keep up the amazing content!
Yes, but only this one time
Camelworks Thanks dad
Camelworks do the quest line where you get the summon arniels shade spell
I wonder why so many effects are hidden. It is great that we have something to discover, but most people will never find it.
Does this staff benefit from any skills or perks. or is it always just the way you find it? Also, is it a leveled? I'm assuming no since no level difference for the effect was mentioned, but I wanted to check.

Jerod Wolf no
Dovahkiin thank you
No one:
Camel: *Grab dat boi*
My follower Kharjo picked it up from the boss and now he kinda turns black and weird particles burn off from him, is this because of the staff?
Could someone help me out? I'm stuck in a loop of visiting this video and the Fudgemuppet Druid video
I love this staff but it goes through alot of soul gems real fast
Be sure to like, Subscribe, and... GRAB DAT BOIIIIII
I hate that in skyrim you can only wear 1 ring in obilivan you can wear 2 rigs right?
a short walk full of frost trolls, ice wolves, and ice wraiths
But not if you're really low level. Wolves and that's it.
At least now I know what to expect when my level 40 Conjurer finally gets to Winterhold.
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced like Yu-rick instead of Jur-ick, not sure though.
It would make sense for my very limited understanding of norse languages
FOR FUCKSAKE I PROBALLY WENT.RIGHT PASS IT
Anyone gonna point out the fact that when you are using this staff your magica regenerates a lot faster? Camelworks any input?
Is it normal that my staff of mangus doesn’t need to be recharged
ia the damage of the staff effected by the augmented shock perks?
M i l f h u n t e r no
Is it wrong that I want to kill everything in this game? Even the Dark Brotherhood?
It’s called purification
Regirex exactly what the world needs...
Fuck, I already sold it. I am more interested in incorporating a staff into one of my play styles though. I think alteration or conjuration would go with a staff nicely.
i think this staff is very very frightening
That sh*t was made to be wielded with the staff of magnus
Someone needs to make a mod that retexures all the named staves with new unique looks. I am trying to use the candy cane mod staffs to replace the unique staves.
Trying to have a build for a necromancer with the undeath mod
Travis letchford Use skyrim redone it adds harvesting bodies and skeleton minion summoning. I dont know if it is compatible with se though.
First of all: Faralda and Niranye: sexiest female Altmers (and not as assholey as the vast majority of other altmers are)
Second of all: 1:28 And so with a quick accidental bump into each other, Onmund and J'zargo discovered their love for each other, (just kidding)
Finally: Getting this staff when you're a low level sucks due to only being able to get a less than 30 shots to deplete the staff and having to get 2 lesser soul gems or 1 common soul gem to recharge the staff every time (barely any money or perks) AND it doesn't appear to follow the "Chracters with a higher Destruction skill gets more uses out of a Destruction spell staff" shit the game claims in the loading screens. Colored map icons?
Fred pastel map markers mod. nexusmods.
Dinklenoot Gaming Thanks!!
For some reason the staff wasn't there when I did the quest
Gabriel Gabriel check the surrounding area. the enemy in the room with the orb tends to use unrelenting force shout.

To me I don't see the point of damage magicka or stamina when absorb is better and when you know that the higher level mages have around 900 or more magicka.
18 zaps with this staff and they are out of magicka
Imagine using that enchantment on gloves
Argh!!! He brought back "grab dat boi!!!" ... Shocking! Shockingly so! Just shock it already ...
Hey do you play PC or Xbox One in this vid? If Xbox, could you list your mods please?
Thank you, have a great day! :)
joey26525 he plays PC

Huh... I think I'm going to give the staff to a follower and let them do the sniping while I concentrate on melee damage.
omg, I've done that quest so many time and never noticed the stick....... :(

Whoa, I'm early.
what's with the "grab that boiiii"
Hmmm mine wasn't there. Perhaps due to MODs or Pacifying him. That's annoying.
Check Toldfir - he sometimes grabs it during the fight and will sell it to you afterwards - capitalist prick!
good... now do the stuff of maguns...
