One of the main reasons I go to school to work with special needs children is exactly because of those doctors that say she can’t do it, she won’t survive, she won’t be able to learn. I’ve seen so many people with different conditions prove these professionals wrong and I’m so excited to work with kids and continue to make strives and hit milestones.
While I've never been in the field, I see so many special needs kids exceed so-called experts' opinions. These "experts" constantly underestimate the wonder of the human brain, parents' dedication and these special kids who don't give up. Thank you for doing the work you do.
I have learned through SBSK how strong, creative, and incredibly devoted parents are with special kids, and what a blessing special kids are. I see such love in this family. I see acceptance of this lovely little girl’s physical condition, but no one is setting limits on what she can accomplish. She is obviously happy and loved, and returns all that love in her special way. Thank you, SBSK!
as a disabled person, please just say ‘disabled’, not ‘special.’ special is really offensive
Not all are. unfortunately.
True. Unfortunatly there are many others that are not. These children live happy life cause of healthy fqmilies around giving them love.
@@carysrose725 how is it offensive I mean emery is special cause he is so cutw
Actually really agree.
Whenever I look inside I see something beautiful about the people within.
She really seems to understand what everyone around her is saying. She may be nonverbal but she definitely knows mama. Such a beautiful family!
Our daughter has hydrocephalus. She had a stroke when I was pregnant with her and lost 80 % 0f the left side of brain. A doctor came into her hospital room after her first surgery and told me we should think about putting her in an institution because she’d never walk or talk and it would be a problem with my husbands military career. Well that pushed us! Kristen went to regular school and graduated with her class. She also played the trumpet in the school band and a community band. Yes she has many issues she’s had to deal with but she has never let anything get in her way! We are blessed!❤
What a cutie!!! She's such a sweet & gentle little girl. Chris always finds a way to connect to kids & make them feel good about themselves & comfortable with him! Much respect!!!
My parents have a friend who's daughter also has this diagnosis, so we grew up knowing eachother. She's the happiest and most loving person I know. She wasn't supposed to live past two, but she's thriving at 29. She's a miracle and her parents are actual angels, along with her sister. Thanks for shining a light on everyone who may be a little different than the status quo ❤️
I'm glad comments are back on so people can tell you and your hosts how much better the world is with the education and empathy that can be experienced through these interviews.
These have to be two of the coolest, most loving and compassionate people ive ever seen. What a lovely family.
What a sweet family. Ya'll are doing an amazing job. My son is mostly nonverbal and loves nose boops as well. Emery is going to have an amazing future!
Emery is such a sweetheart
She had an amazing mum and you can tell her dad loves her so much and any man can be a father but it takes a man to be a dad and he is a great dad
I think my favorite part was seeing her so relaxed and falling asleep first on grandad then in between nana and grandad that must be a very safe place for her :-)
I'd also love to be Emery's friend and so would my 2 girls :-)
Sending so much love to Emery and her whole family all the way from New Zealand!! 💜💜
Emery is a precious little pie and has a sweet smile. It’s all about love. Mom has a beautiful outlook. Chris, you are wonderful at showing the preciousness of each person you interview. God bless!
shes lovely :)
I love this man. He reminds me of Mr. Roger's. The little sweet girl is so cute. Godbless her and may she have many happy healthy years.
You are a blessing for these families and their children. I love what you are doing. By sharing their stories with others. Maybe, hopefully, I say, one day people with disabilities will be excepted by the world. As a mother of a daughter with mild cerebral palsy I say thank you and may God bless you on your journey of life. 😊
This man treats all people with respect and gentleness.
I've learned so much from him. I now welcome every opportunity to meet people who are different. I say different, but we all have so much in common, something else I've learned. 🌹
@@miapdx503 me too…learning so so much from him.
She is absolutely adorable!!!!
Really feels like everybody in this family hit the jackpot. What a lucky little lady, to be surrounded by so much love, kindness & encouragement! And just wow, mom is *bursting at the seams* with love. What a beautiful thing to see, and what a wonderful family.
Hope they're all safe, healthy and even happier than when Chris stopped by to visit
No matter the person or their abilities I've never seen someone so perfect at helping to show their beauty and true self. You are amazing and love your videos.
What her falling asleep between her grandparents was the most precious thing.
What a beautiful little girl. Her smile is contagious
Omg...her smile lights up the world! And her tiny blue glasses are so cute
What a beautiful soul
Beautiful family, including grandparents! God bless you all!
This channel makes me happy and these kids are so adorable..I always leave with a better sense of understanding
Her grandparents are her comfort zone. so beautiful
How adorable!!! She looks just like her mom 🥰 I love how devoted her family is to keep her safe. You guys are all amazing, God bless you guys ❤️
she's so darling! Love, love, love these videos. Thank you for sharing.
It makes me smile when seeing kids like Emily because all you want to do is protect them from this world.
I had this surgery as well. I am almost 12 seizure free.
What a beautiful, loving family! Emery is a lucky girl. 💗
What a wonderful family, every one of them!
You guys are such an awesome and loving family. I hope you're all doing well during these difficult times. Hugs from Germany!
My goodness she is the CUTEST little girl! What an absolute angel.
I wish they would’ve talked a little bit more about her brain condition.
I researched the two terms used in the title, and they are medically complex, not easily verbalized in this type of video. Emery still has 50% brain, and this half will still develop as time goes on, as evidenced by her use of speech and coordinated movements. There are few known reasons or causes which can explain the schizencephaly, which is hollow places or clefts in the brain where cerebrofluid replaces the brain cells, and the hemispherectomy was performed to stop the seizures Emery was experiencing. Your best bet is to research for yourself, as I am not a doctor, I just read alot.
@@10to1imjokin thanks for letting us know :)
I do too, but I think the reason Chris doesn’t always include/ask details about the kids’ conditions is because he wants the focus to be on them as people rather than what their diagnoses are. I remember him saying that for one video he included the diagnoses at the end of the video so the viewers could get to know the person for who they are before they learn the diagnoses if that makes sense. But I agree I wish we knew a little more just so I could understand their conditions better
I thought that was the purpose of the video. Anyway I googled since this video wasn't at all as informative as I was expecting.
@@10to1imjokin that sounds about right.
I 100% adore miss Emery! She’s a beautiful wonderful girl.
This girl is the absolute sweetest!
I so appreciate your channel Chris and the truly brave parents, siblings and beautiful children with special needs that are willing to share their lives and conditions. Our society calls people bravefor often ludicrous reasons. These families are the definition of brave. The multitude of conditions make one realize just how fragile life is and how wrong "experts" can be. I love Emory's glasses! Her smile is absolutely enduring! May God bless this lovely, special family and you, Chris.
She's so so beautiful and sweet. And her smile is so contagious 😍 I wish I could hug her and tell her that she is perfect. Lots of love from Italy
Love, kindness & understanding overcomes everything!!❤❤❤❤ Love your inspiring videos!! Thank U!!
What a beautiful child and family.
I love her pretty glasses! How wonderful you met such an awesome man! You are a wonderful family, God bless you all!
My daughter was diagnosed with half her brain missing too. I can relate to everything said. My daughter had her hemispherectomy for the left side a month ago to stop her seizures. Thank you so much for sharing your journey, just know that you are not alone and I feel and understand what you must be going through ❤
Sweet and beautiful little girl, loving parents and grandparents. I loved all of their interactions. Very special and thanks for sharing.
She seems so sweet and fun. I think my daughter would love to play with her! And I love her bow!
I love SBSK channel!!! It's the very best channel on RUclips. Thank you for all the interesting wonderful videos you make.🕊
SOOOO glad to have comments back!! Way to go Chris, Alyssa, and the entire SBSK family!!
That being said, what a beautiful family in this video!! It's always amazing to see how, despite our MANY different languages and dialects, there is always a way to communicate with one another! This adorable young girl may not be able to verbally speak, but her eyes and movements say everything! Emmy clearly has novels of thoughts in her growing mind! So much love!
What a beautiful family! 😍
Emery is such a sweetie pie she is so cute and adorable she is so precious you are lucky to have emery as a daughter even though she is different it doesn’t mean people should be mean to her being unique is good she is definitely unique she is also so lovely strong creative and Incredible she is definitely lucky to have parents like you guys you guys always care about her and that is why she is lucky if people are mean to her they need to back off she is just so sweet and so cute cool and funny she is just so sweet and cute she is just so adorable
Kind IS cool!!!!! :D
Oh yeah, and the whole "talking over/while mom's talking" must be universal!!! My kids do the EXACT same thing, and they're ages 2 and 5... so, pretty much contemporaries to/with Emmylou! ;-D haha
I think when someone sees a disabled child or adult they should pretend it’s they that have that disability. If you try to put yourself in their shoes for a moment then people would understand and be kinder. No one asks to be born disabled. No one asks to have a tragic accident. We need more kindness in this world.
Hi everyone: It's so nice to see you all again on RUclips. I want to meet you all one day. Take care and stay safe.
My 30 yr. Old son was diagnosed at 6 months old with unilateral closed lipped Schizencephaly after not meeting any milestones and having Seizures. His cleft is on his left side so his right side is affected. The neuros "think" that he suffered a stroke in utero when his brain was forming. He is non-verbal and cannot walk or take care of himself. He is the love of my life.
May Emmy always be surrounded by people who want the best for her, will keep her *safe*, will help her lead a life that is good for her and that she will enjoy and be excited to engage in. Love to all this family. 💜
Haven't checked in here in a while. If Emory's mother is reading this, you have an angel for a daughter.
Chris you are so patient with all the people you interviewed and your an inspiration to me I am mandee and I'm your friend
Lovely family, have a blessed 2022
Emmylou, I enjoyed meeting you! You are a sweet little girl. 🌸🌷🌺

Blessings for Emmylou and family.

God bless you all, get well soon! ✨💛✨
I love this show.
Very nice story
What a cutie! Hope you all are well
She is so so cheeky ❣
I wonder since Emery is nonverbal has her mom ever thought of sign language. Perhaps that would allow them to communicate together.
She is so adorable 💕 💕 💕 💕 💕 💕
God bless you. Amen
She's adorable ❤️👌
Great video 👍🙏
she is an awesome kid
So beautiful.
She is So Beautiful and well behaved, very smart and completely understands everything being said
Right Brain sadly cannot speak, but it is capable of critical thinking and problem solving, it's only issue is that Left Brain has to process the information, communicate it in some form, and explain away Right Brains seemingly confused actions.
This is why separating the 2 hemispheres of the brain can lead to some wacky antics, while only have one of the hemispheres can just simply be hindering.
Either way she's doing great for someone in her position, hope she keeps up being happy
Nice people. Happy she is in good arms.
a lovely family
I just love her glasses,She is so cute
This video hits me hard mainly because I few years ago I know this girl who was born with fluid on half of her brain and now only half her brain functions she was a sweet girl and she was also one of the most best of best friends that I ever had and even though she can't talk properly or remember things for a certain amount of time she was such a happy and bubbly girl there is also things that I had to help her out with but that doesn't bother me at all
Every one of the kids on this channel is a legend 🫂🌟
A gorgeous young angel ❤
It’s so beautiful to see these precious, precious gifts from God with perfect parents just right for them handpicked by Jesus Himself. May you be abundantly blessed 🙏✝️🌹❤️😇
she’s so cute oh my gosh that little bow-
Amazing!
she's so cute even though she's missing half of her brain! i hope she will learn to speak in the future and have many friends
What a wonderful family... Waw...
