- I'm getting two Serissa foetida (Snow Rose) forests ready for our club bonsai show, that is only 5 days away!
These forests were all started from cuttings, from a year old, to almost 20.

Again beautiful! Just off work, in a small town hotel, no WiFi available. This was worth the data usage! And I'd probably make more noise than that if I was laying an egg... O.o Thank you for the time you take for us fans, it is appreciated!
In my imagination, your wooden base will look nice with a deep cherry wood type paint/ stain(?)🤔.
I have been watching your videos for nearly 3 years. But, don't know much about bonsai ( just a standard house plant lover). So, I refrain from typing... until now.
Best of luck at your show, Nigel!
🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳
That main Serissa has really grown pretty quickly. Really cool forest. I think people at the show will be inspired to make a forest style bonsai after seeing the creativity put into yours.
Wow, everything looks so lush and green...Very nice...Thanks...
So glad there are folks like you in the world.
Thank you Patricia!
Mister Saunders, good evening. I have seen this video several times by now and it becomes every time more beautiful. What a pleasure to have such a hobby. I greet you from Amsterdam,The Netherlands.
Thank you, I really enjoy growing the trees and making videos, it's a great hobby!
Like what you did with the serissa forest, stand and monk. Loved the African style serissa forest. All your plants are looking so good. Enjoyed seeing the chickens and the sunflowers.
Thank you Pat, my wife spoils those chickens and rightly so!
Nigel; Your large Serissa forest is looking Great! one of my faves. Cant wait to see all your trees in your club show.
Thank you Mike, it's coming up fast!
I love that golden scissor,it just looks so vintage and stylish.
I couldn't pass them up, I love fancy tools! I bought all those small scissors for 12 dollars.
You are a genius Nigel! Its amazing work!
I really really love it I didn’t think the desert style one would stand out to me so much but I was wrong it’s very very nice to me
Thank you Amelia, it's good to try different display styles to create a different look year to year.
You need some shirts made up with your image on them holding scissors that read” So, here we go”. Subscribers would go crazy.
i guess it's quite off topic but do anyone know a good website to watch newly released series online ?
@Maison Cory Flixportal :)
@Jakob Cain Thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I really appreciate it!!
@Maison Cory No problem xD
Earlier than i usually am. But i love how peaceful your videos are. Nice work
Thanks Patrick, peace!
Those last shots with then light steaming above are phenomenal!
Thank you Erik, the good light doesn't last very long, I only get a couple of hours late in the afternoon!
Oh wow, I really like the monk display!
Definitely something different for the show! Thanks.
Great trees.You always surprise me.
very nice
Fantastic! Love your design and peaceful Bonsai creations.
Very very beautiful planting Nigel. Looking at it, I imagine myself walking through the planting to that bigger tree. And sitting under it for a while. What a peaceful moment 😅
Until the lion shows up! Thanks, it is a very peaceful forest.
Very nice! The smaller trees at the back are really developing good too.
Lots of new shears and stuff... very nice collection
Your eye for artistic things in daily life is great
Thank you, can't resist shiny tools!
Hi Nigel, thank you for your beautiful videos, I have been watching for weeks now :)
LOVE YOU NIGEL AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL TREES
Beautiful chickens too
Thank you Charley! I'll tell the chickens, hopefully they won't get a big head about it!
Lovely, as always; my primary inspiration
Stunning...Thanks...
really well-shot episode!
Oh! Its beautiful, day by day it is becoming more realistic.
Thank you, it's a fun forest to work on!
very nice
Great work love the sand work all the best with show I hope you have great weather
Thank you Fred, it's raining today, but I'll have to work on trees anyway!
All your trees look so good!
Thank you!
Dada, really great presentation. But one thing I am gonna suggest. You should have add a strip of moss between road.
And one question, which type of paint are you using? Does it harm roots?
very nice
Nigel, wood will curl if you only paint one side. It will happen within a week if left outside in a humid environment. Can’t wait to see your video of the show.
Thanks, I did paint the underside also, hopefully it will be somewhat stable. The show is coming up fast and it's raining today, I guess I'll get wet!
I'm so jealous how green your moss is D:
Incredible art work, I'm now learning about bonsai in hong kong, got a lemon tree and also lai chi tree both with 2 years old and looking so miniature already.
Sounds great, happy growing Daniel!
Beautiful dear
And nice work
very nice
Nigel...exquisite forest my friend
Thank you Todd, I may work on the canopy a bit more, separating the canopy into smaller pads, hopefully I'll get time!
@@TheBonsaiZone Nigel, I'm sure that with your steady hand, it'll continue to develop beautifully. I really enjoy all of your trees . Thanks for all the work you put in. We're oming into spring here in western australia, so it's time I started work on some of my own trees
Great video once again mate. That Acacia type forrest I'd have to say is my favourite. Well done on another great vid 😁😁
Thanks Sam, we've been cranking out the videos lately, good to see!
Impresionante trabajo es un placer ver sus vídeos saludos desde España 🇪🇸
Amazing!!! 😍🌳⛰
Nigel I don't know if I should trunk chop my Ginkgo biloba and my Eastern larch (Larix laricina). They don't have any branches or visible buds where I want to chop their trunk. Do you know what I should do? Love your videos!
U do what ever cut it , grow it ,remove it add it pinch it trim it all ur bonsai look awesome....,👍🤘
Thank you, it does keep me busy!
very nice
Awesome forests sir
Thank you Asgar, two very different sizes!
very nice
I am so still envious of your moss 😂 I wonder if you ever root prune the Portulacaria trees and a red wood such as Sequoia? I read that the Sequoia is self root prune and I shouldn't prune it but I am not sure if it's okay to not train the root... And I literally just bought the Elephant bushes because of how much they appear in your video!
The main tree looks awesome! Love your RUclips channel. Personally I would have used a different color on the sand, red/orange looking sand to give it a more desert look.
Class all the time
Thank you!
Do a few layers of grey to black, then do a light sanding. It will give it a nice old look and contrast the black cloth
Amazing...😍😍👏👏
Thank you Prasad!
very nice
love the new monk. they need tiny rugs to sit on, nigel. ^^
He does, I've been looking for one, but no luck yet! Maybe something from a doll house? Thanks.
that would be the first place I would look
Wow, I just love the African style set-up, so beautiful. How did you made the main tree trunk bend? I just find your channel yesterday and I know now I have to try creating my own bonsai's, especially this African type.
Hello Martin, this tree started from a small cutting, the trunk was pruned shorter to a branch that then took over as the main leader of the tree. You can watch the entire playlist for this tree here....

One day I'm going to visit one of your clubs shows, I swear it!
You are always welcome!
Will you remove the moss on the trunks of the miniature forest?
Hi Nigel. When you show your trees, are they classified as penjing because of your decorative additions or does your club not differentiate? Thanks, you're the best!
It can be called a landscape bonsai forest or a landscape penjing. Our club welcomes all forms of the art. Thanks SE!
Hi Nigel, thanks for the awesome video as usual. Can you please post the correct scientific name of the African Acacia style tree you have. I'm having a hard time figuring it out. The "cerissa macrocarpa" I have is a "natal plum" , which is an awesome bonsai material but not what you have there.
Thanks
The name is Serissa foetida, here is the wiki link....
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serissa
I too have Natal Plum trees on the go! They can make very nice bonsai!
Why don't you put a sheet of paper or plastic on the ground of your trees before you prune them? It would make cleaning up all the clippings so much more easy! I don't think it must be fun to chase and pick up one by one all the fragments of leaf that get trapped in the moss after sweeping off the bulk of the cut foliage.
If only I was that organized! I'm a complete disaster some days. I'll try to cover the ground next time! Thanks Pat!
The Acacia forest looks like an old apple orchard in Poland.
What would you suggest using instead of moss for south Texas since it’s to hot down here for the moss
I would try Sedum, it can be pruned short and looks good!

If you plant in gravel how does it get nutrition
The larger serissa looks amazing, How long have you been training it to look like that?.. Loving the even scarier monk, waiting for him to open his eyes and look at me. Next the birds nest spruce is waiting.
The Serissa has been trained from a small cutting over the last 15 years. It has really taken off in the last 5. You can follow the progress with the playlist.....

@@TheBonsaiZone I'm slowly working my way through all your videos, so I'm learning from the best. The tree of a thousand stars the other name for the serissa caught my eye, Because I can grow it indoors in my porch, it's going to my next tree, I'm addicted now, and loving it. Thank you . Michael.
Once choosen and pruned, for the show.
How far in advance, of the club show, do you prune?
It can depend on the species, for these trees you would want to do a final pruning the week of the show. The moss should be pruned more often so it stays short and green!
Wow father very nice
Thank you very much!
Du u have mapple plant?
very nice
Update on the rainforest kapok trees
They are growing like crazy, the tallest is the height of me! I'll be updating the rainforest after I get through the bonsai show, hopefully soon!
Congratulations + 01 like👍
😍your monk looks so real.. where do you buy them?
Great work with attention to smallest details ..
I buy them from the Canadian Nation Exhibition in Toronto. It is on once a year and I have been going for over twenty years!
very nice
👌👌👌...!!!
Thank again Sunit!
that monk is so detailed, even the veins on his arms. Are you sure he's not alive? :))))
Check out this video, it's amazing.....

What kind of chicken is that? They look so different!
They are called silkies , they are covered in fluffy feathers and are very cute! The mom has 4 chicks, all white except for one!
African serissa forest is now...😍😍😍
Very present, I agree.
Eek! That monk is disturbingly realistic looking!
almost 1500 followers on your instagram account. congradulations!
Amazing, I've been visiting it more lately, it's nice to see the comments and again thanks for creating the account, it's amazing!
wow
Thank you Cynthia!
I influenced you a tiny little bit about the moss, right? :))
You made me think about it more! It's raining today and very humid, I'm not sure I can get the moss to dry out and change colour. If anything it's turning more green! Oh well, a good idea for the future.
That monk is scary. He looks like a giant next to the little forest.
You need to bonsai your hair
Yes, he looks like an old lady in the thumbnails. haha Nice bonsai work though.
Try the new lense with the turn table. Nice pan shots
That will be coming this winter. I'm going to begin work on the plant room after the show, lots to do!
Is the monk laying the egg??
Maybe it was him making the clucking noise!
I just love u r creations,, all are awesome,, I have a request, can you please take a new project with reference to baniyan tree over the temple, search in Google Images wit *The jungle book temple tree*. U will get some good reference. Kindly consider my request, thank you.. All the best for your display..
I have this planting....
ruclips.net/video/Cwh5HzruMm4/видео.html
I'll be making an update of it before winter hits!
How do you make the bark look so old
The Serissa foetida gets old looking bark even when the tree is young. These trees are close to 20 years old, so the bark keeps improving with age!
@@TheBonsaiZone thanks a lot for your kind answer
Not foist, but not far behind!
Thank you Todd, I stayed up way too late last night!
The view up through the branches is great - lovely trunks for young trees.
Here is something I think you will enjoy Nigel, particularly the bit about the Japanese monk and their tradition. It is basically about primal transcendent meditation through running. Also, if you have never come across Rich Roll before he is quite an interesting person.

sometime I wonder who are the 10 people who clicked the dislike button on your videos :p
You are chasing the bee nd not letting it collect honey ..😆
I don't think it liked the camera in it's face!
จะเอารูปจำลองสมเด็จพุฒาจารย์โตมาตั้งเพื่ออะไรครับท่านไม่ได้เล่นบอนไซ
Early! (Not foist)
Very early. good stuff!
I don't like the monk because it distracts me.
Bro next video can you brush that nappy hair
Foist :)
Welcome to the Foist zone Dora!
Dòra Székàcs Why even fking comment if all you can come up with is “I’m forst” ...............
How dare you ;)
Charley Edwards please watch the video and enjoy it. :) really good stuff. Btw I can comment anything I want. :)
