  • I'm selecting three trees for our bonsai show, for their unconventional bonsai pots and stands. 3d printed pots make their show debut!
    Today in the bonsai zone, I work on a Ginseng Ficus, a small Jade and a dwarf Schefflera bonsai.

    Nigel, Beautiful statement regarding accessible plants. We are all strengthened by hands-on experience. You walk peacefully with us, through these foundational steps. As well, you clear- mindedly teach advanced skills, which makes you a worthy resource. Greetings from British Columbia.

    You inspired me to take up bonsai about a year ago with some great success to date. I've had to modify some of your techniques for our hot dry environment in Australia and now I'm having a go at Australian Natives. Really envious of your cold wet weather.
    Looking forward to more videos.

      Nigel, I'd also love to learn more about the moss! I have loads of moss growing on the trees around me here in Kitsilano in Vancouver, but I haven't had the best luck in transplanting it. Thank you for these videos!

    Your Schefflera looks awesome one of my favorite trees in your collection.
    My Hoya carnosa bonsai trees are grow fast and putting on some trunk thickness. I will send you some pictures when they are coming indoors for the winter, probably early October, as always your work is fascinating, especially how you can change the look of a landscape with the same trees in it.

    The Ginseng ficus is looking good. Glad that you trimmed the moss per your liking, but I really liked it better prior to trimming. The Jade tree is looking great. I can see myself doing a bonsai similar to yours. The dwarf Schefflera is looking good as well. So pleased that you include some trees like these when you go to a show. It does help others get inspired to adopt this hobby by seeing what they can readily achieve. Thanks for your interesting and informative videos.

  • @gregmarquis1886

    Nigel, please do a video on how you create all that MOSS. It doesn't make sense. You have trees that require full sun but moss requires full shade. What am I doing wrong. I've been asking you for over a year now. Other people would like to know as well.

    Hello Nigel! Love your channel! I was wondering if you have a website or a link so i can buy your disgned 3D bonsai pots. As well as your different tools and soils. As i live in a small (15k persons) county in Colorado it is hard to these types of items.

  • @paulschaefer5241

    I wonder how you keep the roots on that jade from rotting. To grow moss like that, you need way more water than the plant likes.

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  6 лет назад

      The Jade is kept in the greenhouse, I mist the moss a couple of times a day and this keeps the moss growing really well. The soil remains very dry underneath so the Jade stays happy also!

  • @bonsaimoldova

    Do you ever calculated the proportion between a real tree and an animal? I mean do you try to keep the proportion when you put an animal in your penjing compositions? (Like leopard with jade plant and elephants in your diorama composition)

    Great trees, as always!
    I just bought a cedar tree from a gardening store to use as my first "bonsai-ready" tree. I've done all the root work, but the foliage is so "full-sized", I'm not sure how to style it.. Any way to make the "leaves" grow in smaller? Thanks!

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  6 лет назад +1

      Yes the leaves will reduce with time, they should grow in a little finer each year.
