Not next to the door plug on a 900 Max.

When I fly into LAX, I prefer a window seat on the right hand side. There’s always a great view of the mountains giving way to more heavily populated areas, and if you look closely, you might even get to see the Hollywood sign if the conditions are clear enough. Plus, the last time I flew in there was in 2022 on Super Bowl Weekend, so I had a perfect view of SoFi Stadium, which is about as close as I’ll ever get to a Super Bowl. Same seating preference for flying out as well, because of the views of Malibu. I think the landing runway is sometimes determined by which terminal you’re arriving into, so if you’re in terminals 1-3 you’re probably landing on the north side and terminals 4-8 would be landing on the south side (not always the case, but that’s been my experience in general). If you’re sitting on the right hand side and landing on the south side, you’ll also get that classic view of the Theme Building with mountains in the background.

Front row, aisle seat. First on, first off.

I'm a sucker for window seats and views. So, my side of the plane is based on where I think the prevailing winds will be. Sometimes, I get it wrong, though.

Thank you for the in-depth explanation on how to determine the best seat based on wind direction and landmarks. I don't fly too often and usually the flights are very full. Sometimes there are very few options for choosing a seat. Sometimes I just have to take whatever window seat is available.

Love the tips, works really well on SWA cause you pick the seat as you get on the flight.

Yes Peter. I love this runway landing talk. I live in DC and I’ve landed many times at DCA into the south from the north on runway 19 and you get the most spectacular view of the city especially in the early evening when the sun is setting in the west. I hope some day in the near future you could make a video on that approach sitting on the left hand side of the aircraft. 👍🏼

I have flown to DCA so many times but before I started this channel :(

Some airports are definitely easier to determine which side to sit on. Say for San Diego, you'd want to always be on the left side of the plane to catch the downtown views while landing. Flying in or out of New York (both LGA & JFK) are usually harder to determine until day of which side will give you the best views.

Last row, middle seat. Preferably, 2 large “COS” who have poor hygiene and if we could, a 18 hour flight.
