The headliner absorbs sound and cuts down on the reverb of sound you hear inside the wrangler, not the loudness of sound. A good analogy is to listen to Tyler talking inside his garage vs outside. The reverb of his voice is plentiful inside the gargage and you can hear it plain as day. Outside however, there is no reverb of his voice because there are no walls for sound to bounce off of. The bonus of the headliners is it will cut down on the heat transfer from the top on a hot day. The headliners are worth it as they do exactly what they are designed to do.
JK Gear and Gadgets has a video showing the extreme temperature difference with the HHH install. So while it may not be a big decibel improvement, the temperature improvement is worth it IMO.
I just recently installed the Hot Heads kit. I purchased the side panels and the optional “assassin strips” for extra sound deadening. The sound and heat reduction is significant!
