Funhaus, I would just like to let you know that, due to the quality of your content and all around greatness of each one of you, if RUclips doesn't work for you and you have to change platforms I will be following. I also urge all fellow Funhaus fans to do the same. They have provided entertainment at the highest quality for years without asking anything from us in return, and if the time comes where we have to support them so they can do what they do best, I think we should be honoured to do that for them. If the time comes when we have to pay to watch their content, I will open my wallet for them so they can keep succeeding. Until then I urge everyone to do what we can for them: turn off Adblock, like and share all those videos, and try to find as many people to watch their content as possible. Thank you Funhaus, we will stand by you.
Totally agree with you, I've been a fan since Inside Gaming and if the time comes that I'd have to pay to watch all of their content then I would happily do so. Just sayin
It won't really hurt them by that much, honestly. The company's holding up... I have no idea as of the current since the liberalism of Rooster Teeth is surfacing, regardless... they are doing fine
If it's any comfort, your fans will follow you to whatever platform you go to, i became a first member just because you were something i wanted to support.
MegaClogger they have so many cool posters and t shirts they don't sell to us... I really want a new funhaus poster..... haus funhaus 2 with Elyse as Danny and James as Jon?
Garrett Swenson FACK OFF! I'll whine and complain about YT not supporting its creators but there's *no way* I'll give FH my cash, why pay when it's free? Dumbass... /s
I'm not just saying this to be over-complimentary, but this had to be the best channel on the whole of RUclips. The Funhaus crew are funny, relatable and create quality content everyday (and even have an intelligent community who aren't just all obnoxious 12 year olds). I just wish all channels were like this and RUclips would support this sort of channel more, without demonetizing their content.
I love the idea of separating content into two platforms, both with ad revenue. I think it'd resolve a lot of the issues we're seeing now while still allowing content creators to make money
Casper Röseby Something like that isn't such a bad idea. How that plays out (people's political stances) is another story. I smell censorship regardless.
For everyone calling for a new RUclips competitor, you have to understand it's different now when RUclips started advertisers didn't know how to react. Now even if you start a new site you have to deal with advertisers, like RUclips is right now, or have a big enough audience willing to financially support not only the creators but also the platforms. Not to mention you will have to negotiate with the owners of games, if you have gaming, to get permission to post videos with their property
This adpocalypse thing is so dumb. It sucks for smaller youtubers who are trying to grow their channels because they might not get 1,000 views within the first 7 days - my video got ads removed and it's just about graphic design! I don't understand!
If only Amazon could get their shit together and support proper VoD content on Twitch.... Only allow people who already have a sub button to upload videos as a sort-of filter for 95% of the trash videos that would've been uploaded (like on youtube where everyone can just upload whatever they want) and make a subscription page where new videos show up. There. It's like I'm performing magic. 1 billion dollars please.
Life without John Manhunter and the Hitman series would be so dull and boring. I hope you guys find a solution to the RUclips monetization issue. Don't leave us Funhaus!
Can't RUclips match videos with ads like it? Child-friendly video, gets a child-friendly ad. Gaming video, gets a gaming ad. Adult/mature video, adult/mature ad. Etc.
I agree 100% with what Bruce was saying. I don't understand why RUclips just doesn't have an age-restricted tier (or entirely separate platform) with a different set of ads. Bruce made a good point in saying that late-night TV still runs ads. I wish RUclips would address why the platform is not going this direction.
I don't know why, but I'm glad the old set-up is back. It feels very appropriate that the podcast is a bunch of friends sitting around watching one friend play a game while they all talk about whatever.
This is probably the most Intellectual conversation about "Adpocolypse" The team has had, the game is changing rapidly, it scares me because I don't want to lose this content, I love the effort and talent that goes into these Videos and Clips, please just keep making this qaulity of content on youtube or elsewhere. I'd hate to lose the laughs.
So, what about RUclips red money? I understood that the more I watch a channel, the more of my subscription money that channel gets. But if you are demonitiezed, do you get my RUclips red funds?
Lawrence might agree with me on this, after watching anime with subtitles for years you start to get to a point where you don't need to put any effort into looking down to read the subs, you just get use to it.
I found it funny they used a phrase about "5 year olds" concerning who they want to run RUclips for. You'd be shocked to check out GoodBadFlicks latest video why he hasn't put out a new video this week. It tells briefly about RUclips's new way they run their algorithm and how they want the site to run now.
Keep an eye out for another platform to use as a mirror of RUclips and at the same time you could create a Patreon or something like that so anyone could pay a monthly subscription to help you. If it is not possible to do that with Funhaus you could do it with you personal channels. Funhaus is one of the few channels I would pay to avoid the risk of you having to shut it down. I wouldn't mind paying 30 or 40 bucks a month to Funhaus or 5 bucks each on your personal channels. Don't know if this would solve the problem in the long run but it's just an idea.
I am always jealous of Lawrence's hair. It is the style I would like to go for, yet I am not proficient enough to nail it. Please, SirLarr tell me your secrets!
Have they not seen Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? That's considered by most to be the best anime of all time, as well as a great television series. Its dub is also considered by most to be as good, if not better, than the subs.
Just to let you guys know I'll watch your content wherever you decide to put it, wether that's on here or on another platform like your own website or on the RT site
I saw a screencap of someone posting a physics question to Pornhub, and someone else went ahead and answered it, with full description and two examples. Ah--maaazing.
If Twitch were smart, they'd capitalize on this whole thing, stop fucking with "features" and functions that aren't broken, and focus on a means of giving content creators a new platform to upload and bring in revenue. As long as uploaded videos adhered to their streaming rules and regulations, there wouldn't have to be any bullshit restrictions imposed. Over the last couple years they've added categories such as cooking, creative and IRL. There's already past broadcasts people watch, which coincidentally, streamers try and double dip by uploading that very content on to RUclips. Why not give them a reason to keep that content in house by monetizing it on their own platform? It would deal what could very likely be the killing blow to RUclips.
Strygger it's bullshit that advertisers act like this when they advertise on tv next to things like westworld and game of thrones that are as close to soft core smut as possible
Actually as a smaller creator, I have had pretty much nothing demonetised and during the 'apocalypse' I only saw 20% decrease in revenue, maybe it's because smaller channels are less visible or my content outwardly looks fairly family friendly
Love when they start talking about JOing with VR stuff and Adam said "You can totally see me, money shot." Then he just suddenly becomes soooo aware of how he is man spreading. Then starts trying to cover it up. So cute and shy.
Every time you call them, they say they're looking into it and trying to work things out? Sounds like all the women I've ever dated. Glad you're with RT cause I'm pretty sure youtube is seeing somebody else.
I really have to agree with Adam on the adpocalypse, even though I know nothing about RUclips as just a user, I really have to think that RUclips is trying to change the entire platform and hope that content creators will change. Content creators are probably seen as the more flexible party, as opposed to ad companies. I personally hope this will grow other services that can compete with RUclips that can find a balance between creators and ads.
I always thought that they should just show an add on any video regardless of what the video is. Like RUclips would have an ad rotation, and the ads would play out that rotation and it wouldn't be designating any ad to any kind of video in particular. The downside I see is that you don't spearhead right to your prime demographic, but at least then you don't have to deal with censorships and people being mad that Nestle would play an ad on an alt-right video or something.
Even if another platform gets big, it wouldn't bankrupt RUclips. The people who care about the whole "adpocolypse" thing are somewhat small subset of creators and their fans. My gf watches youtube and she didn't even know it was a thing until I brought it up last week because she watches stuff that isn't affected by it.
I lost my job so I had to cancel my First membership. But now I'm back working, I'm happy to pay for a First membership and only watch your videos on there. I love what you guys do and have for years now, since the IG days. I'd rather pay a small amount a month than have you go away
They do, their site. They have first memberships to make money off of and could always reach out for ads. tbh if their video player wasn't so bad I'd watch all of FH and Rt content on first
RUclips ads only account for about 15% of Rooster Teeth's revenue. They are doing well because they do have their own platform, and don't rely on youtube to pay the bills.
Cosme Fulanito This is pretty true for me. I haven't watched a RoosterTeeth video in like 2 years. I really only watch Funhaus. If they were to go back to Machinima I'd go watch them there. They produce the funniest, most enjoyable content in my opinion and, at the end of the day, that's all that really matters.
Brayden exactly the problem. I'd be fully invested in RT First if the video player worked, but it's so temperamental that it actively discouraged me from trying to watch videos on it.
I'm torn. Do I keep YT Red so I can support the creators? Or do I stop supporting Google and it's horrendous practices? Advertisers need to remove the heads from their ass and figure out how the real world works, 6 year olds watching Skylander Kids can't buy things
@Fanhaus Here's a tip to prevent fish from sticking to your cooking surface. There 2 different ways. 1. Oil: Place generous amount of oil on to the cooking surface. Be sure to research what type oil you use. Certain oils, like olive oil burn at lower temp than conventional vegetable/peanut oil and will cause stickage. 2. When placing the fish on to cooking surface. Gently place it on top of the oil and be sure to slide the fish horizonal or vertical 1/3 inch. This same technique can be used with salt and pepper, but take a significant amount. Allow to cook for 4-6 minutes or 5-8 for more sear, base on thickness and refrain from constantly flipping. 3. Using a a steam dome will help with cooking it evenly, adding lemon juice or water to create steam toward the end will help with non-sticking as well. Just note; sea food cooks relatively fast. I hope this helps you. Happy cooking...
Since the past few months, I'd been going through the motions of trying to get into a gaming channel...until I heard about all of this. Not only are we losing the creators that we love, but it makes things even more difficult (on top of how hard it already is to make a name for yourself) to develop new creators in the void. If RUclips keeps up this trend, I think they will go the way of MySpace...for better or for worse. I hope you guys keep making content - and I don't care where it is as long as I can watch :)
"Give everyone a chicken. Some people is going to eat it. Others will let the chicken live and let it lay eggs. The 1% will find a hen and get even more chickens and in the end get rich."
These same companies fight to get their ads to run during a show like the walking dead where people get eaten alive by zombies but they're afraid their ad might run on a video where someone swears or plays a violent game? Makes sense.
I can read the subtitles without necessarily looking at it so I don't miss the action, in anime or martial arts films. So I personally don't lose anything from subs, I would also like to mention that dubs have improved tremendously.
Your guy's voices are definitely the priority in the video so if there is game audio its fine if its muted or really quiet as long as we can hear you its fine
So is this new algorithm going to effect demo disk? I really hope not, it's my favorite. Demo disk is the reason I found and fell in love with this channel. Best of luck in all of this and I hope to keep watching you guys on RUclips.
Funny that Adam mentions the region blocking of Rick and Morty at 57:25 because RUclips Red is also region blocked, as you are only able to get it in the US, Mexico, South Korea, Australia and New Zeeland. Pretty odd that not even England has gotten access to it yet...
I pay for RUclips Red and first membership on RT and I'm doing fine. I'm also in the military so I don't make a great amount of money. I use RUclips as my tv now so I'm actually saving money by not paying for some tv service. Plus I get to decide what to watch instead of being stuck with whatever is on at any given moment.
Lawrence, just a quick FYI, smoking oil isn't good for you if you're using olive oil and other certain oils. It releases carcenogens. Google which oils are safe to heat till smokey.
My philosophy has always been that if you want a product to survive, you have to support it. People shit on preorders of games, but that initial revenue and guaranteed sale says to game devs that "Hey there is an audience for this game". Same thing with subscription models on content, I don't enjoy RUclips enough to justify RUclips Red, especially as I don't agree with their business practices, but I'm a 1st member, I'm subbed to WWE Network (which is endless content) and I have a Spotify account, and a Crunchyroll account. Besides that I don't feel that any other media sources deserve my money since I'm not going to use them that much.
This happened to my video 2 weeks ago that just so happened to be the most intense project I've ever worked on. But I haven't been getting a Yellow $ and was still being hurt by this. I checked multiple accounts and devices and no ads were running, it got no promotion and I got a lot of reports from subscribers that they weren't notified of the upload. It really sucks, close to 150 hours in just under 2 weeks and long days for nothing. Really kills the enthusiasm of smaller channels trying to grow.
We need a new platform designed to support only quality content creators, the main reason RUclips still isn't profitable is because they allow literally anybody to upload anything for free, which costs a bunch of money due to server capacity and transfer speed limitations. Perhaps we need creators to pay a small server fee per hour of video, like $3-5 or something to decentivize users uploading dead or low quality content just because they can. With less uploads per second perhaps a slightly less heavy handed algorithm can be implemented to remove unsavory content.
Most people I know and myself unfortunately included, operate under the perspective of "I pay for Netflix, if it isn't on Netflix or in a theatre I have no problem torrenting it and using adblock" It's all about convenience and perceived cost effectiveness, Netflix won the race to replacing blockbuster and so it is now seen as a standard base cost of living similar to service providers, anything else appears as extra expenses. My friends recently weaselled their way into getting the cost of their internet reduced by switching to a bundle that includes cable and HBO (really smooth talkers) we were excited to finally watch Game of Thrones live and legally but realized that one of our buddies was two episodes behind, something about being in Canada or a glitch with Shaw made it so that even though they had legal access to it on demand it was still easier for us to torrent the episodes than watch them legally.
Huge fan of your content by the way. I have a suggestion that the podcast gang should all watch and make a dude soup about, and it's Kill la Kill, an anime on Netflix. If any of you on Funhaus ever read this, it's definitely worth watching, despite its maturity.
I WAS WRONG! The merch I showed at the end of the podcast comes out NEXT Tuesday (8/29).
RUclips : Broadcast Yourself

Riley Clarke I second that. Even as a new follower
I second this motion
Twitch needs to implement a upload system so youtube gaming channels can move there.

I need Bruce's Metallica inspired Funhaus shirt
Lars will sue him
It's all Lars thinks about... suing Bruce
MegaClogger they have so many cool posters and t shirts they don't sell to us... I really want a new funhaus poster..... haus funhaus 2 with Elyse as Danny and James as Jon?
Monkbot10 It's a sad reality. That poster idea sounds kickass though!
MegaClogger That's why Lars Can't keep tempo because he's focusing on suing Bruce
I like podcasts which are not on set.
same
Y'all knew this day would come. I'm surprised it took this long, I figured this would have happened 3-4 years ago.
well I guess I'm just going to enjoy my favorite youtubers until they have to leave the platform. Pretty disappointing...
ikr! I wish all major Youubers came together and create their own platform
wafflecopter208 Call it WeTube or some shit.
Nilesh Pawar like Twitch
You can support Funhaus and make sure they don't have to do that by getting a First membership.

Casper Röseby Something like that isn't such a bad idea. How that plays out (people's political stances) is another story. I smell censorship regardless.
John Redcorn probably but it might still be better than what we have now.
A good idea, but what happens when you get neo nazis and isis propaganda and kids see that shit?
Andrew Campbell well the idea is that that's the sort of stuff that would be filtered out instead of filtering out things like funhaus.
For everyone calling for a new RUclips competitor, you have to understand it's different now when RUclips started advertisers didn't know how to react. S. Ellis redtube is
Same here in Canada
If there is no more gaming, then the Funhaus content needs to be exclusively Bruce singing and dancing. TAKE MY MONEY
James looking like the sandman

The best part of this podcast is James and Bruce rolling their eyes and looking confused during Lawrence's ad-reads
Life without John Manhunter and the Hitman series would be so dull and boring. I hope you guys find a solution to the RUclips monetization issue. Don't leave us Funhaus!
i singularly appreciate your transparency FunHaus.
Can't RUclips match videos with ads like it? Child-friendly video, gets a child-friendly ad. Gaming video, gets a gaming ad. Adult/mature video, adult/mature ad. Etc.
No, because that would be sensible...
But that takes effort
Nothing is better than these four right here. I hope they enjoy what they do for years to come.
Captain Jack Sparrow from Talking Stalkings needs to be on dude soup
I agree 100% with what Bruce was saying. I don't understand why RUclips just doesn't have an age-restricted tier (or entirely separate platform) with a different set of ads. HypperLibrium ya, i love youtube too
I don't know why, but I'm glad the old set-up is back. It feels very appropriate that the podcast is a bunch of friends sitting around watching one friend play a game while they all talk about whatever.
So PewdiePie is a reflection of humanity....damn it RUclips, what have you done!
I loved this Dude soup! A lot of laughs and really interesting stuff! Thank you guys :)
RUclips content creators should do a 1 week protest only uploading blank videos with the same #Notube title and thumbnail.
This is probably the most Intellectual conversation about "Adpocolypse" The team has had, the game is changing rapidly, it scares me because I don't want to lose this content, I love the effort and talent that goes into these Videos and Clips, please just keep making this qaulity of content on youtube or elsewhere. You'd be shocked to check out GoodBadFlicks latest video why he hasn't put out a new video this week. It tells briefly about RUclips's new way they run their algorithm and how they want the site to run now.
When they talked about the Ewok movies, it reminded me of the Star Wars Galaxy of Fear books I used to read back in elementary.
The people that get mad at RUclips in the comments are also the people that use Adblock
Everytime they read the MVMT ad-read i just smile at my new watch and think about the many ways Funhaus makes my life better :)
Who the hell dislikes before watching ?
*STEVEN*
I have loyalty to the content creators not the platform.
Designers >>> Publishers.
There's only 7 episodes of GoT this season not 8. Feelsbadman
NICE GOT EM

just post to pornhub then there's a big group of people who would see you videos and they have ads
sirbuttplugs/ blazeingjohncena how did i not think of this?
tatertots I already posted a few of my gameing vids to pornhub they also give out achevments for some reason
I saw a screencap of someone posting a physics question to Pornhub, and someone else went ahead and answered it, with full description and two examples. Ah--maaazing.
bigvirgotube yeah the pornhub comuintie is pretty nice hope it doesn't change
Last time I was there for non porn content was the Germany-Brazil 7-1 game, Funhaus has good chances there with Demo Disk last two minutes :D

Strygger we need multiple new platforms.
Strygger it's bullshit that advertisers act like this when they advertise on tv next to things like westworld and game of thrones that are as close to soft core smut as possible

try to be a nice guy that would be interesting
Someone just needs to make a website like RUclips, but without all the censorship and they'll bankrupt RUclips.
BinaryPrime There's vid.me but it's not nearly as big.
BinaryPrime and we'll call it redtube
That's the problem. Companies like censorship. Nobody would want to put advertisement on a non-censorship youtube.
I always thought that they should just show an add on any video regardless of what the video is. Why doesn't RoosterTeeth make there own platform?
They do, their site. They have first memberships to make money off of and could always reach out for ads. tbh if their video player wasn't so bad I'd watch all of FH and Rt content on first
Because no one watches their shit.. RT just cashes in from the channels they manage.
Love listening to you guys while I'm mowing the lawn and mowing the lawn ; )
I'm torn. Do I keep YT Red so I can support the creators? Or do I stop supporting Google and it's horrendous practices? Advertisers need to remove the heads from their ass and figure out how the real world works, 6 year olds watching Skylander Kids can't buy things
Dayyyyym Lawrence has a clean ass fucking cut.
Fuck RUclips. I'm signing up for RT First and deleting my Google account.
Korben Dallas ur an idiot XD enjoy waiting for the website to work
Korben Dallas i have rt first and it works fine for me plus funhaus and cowchop podcast are up there, plus the d&d stuff first
I got first a month ago and it's awesome! I love the exclusives and I still get to support the guys.
Korben Dallas redtube
Who said they'd stay with Rooster Teeth?

That English teacher in Japan really hit home for me 😂😂 My cousin actually did that (at an elementary school) and met his wife! They now have 3 kids
Future of funhaus!! You should join up with Noodlehaus and be FunNoodlehaus!
"Give everyone a chicken. Some people is going to eat it. Others will let the chicken live and let it lay eggs. The 1% will find a hen and get even more chickens and in the end get rich."
That final comment by Adam killed me. "Aim at gaze... that's g a z e"
i think this is my favorite episode of dude soup ever
These same companies fight to get their ads to run during a show like the walking dead where people get eaten alive by zombies but they're afraid their ad might run on a video where someone swears or plays a violent game? Makes sense.
All these men have great hairstyles that fit them perfectly. Looking dapper as ever gentlemen 👍🏼
I can read the subtitles without necessarily looking at it so I don't miss the action, in anime or martial arts films. So I personally don't lose anything from subs, I would also like to mention that dubs have improved tremendously.
RUclips Red is only available in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea right now
Your guy's voices are definitely the priority in the video so if there is game audio its fine if its muted or really quiet as long as we can hear you its fine
Popped on here to say got 6 months of first, and will be watching you guys and gal on there from now on. Keep up the fun thanks
really great podcast guys im always gonna support this channel thanks for all the years of great content
The Ewok movies are not bad. I think they are very fun and have a lot of heart.
So is this new algorithm going to effect demo disk? I really hope not, it's my favorite. Demo disk is the reason I found and fell in love with this channel. Best of luck in all of this and I hope to keep watching you guys on RUclips.
Got a watch for my self a while back, thinking of getting a second! Used your guys code, thanks for the awesome content and sponsors 😊
I LOVE PODCASTS BEING FILMED HERE
Funny that Adam mentions the region blocking of Rick and Morty at 57:25 because RUclips Red is also region blocked, as you are only able to get it in the US, Mexico, South Korea, Australia and New Zeeland.
Google which oils are safe to heat till smokey.
no game sound is fine, makes the podcast more enjoyable
Holiday special is
goodness
i always forget about it until someone brings it up
My philosophy has always been that if you want a product to survive, you have to support it.
It's a good thing you're not in a place of power, Frosty
Battle for Endor was great (when I was a kid)! I had a thing for the sorceress for years. And the mean aliens were really creepy.
