- A home rented by a suspected identity thief in Northwest Harris County has led to a law enforcement investigation and the recovery of many items possibly connected to other identity theft cases.

That's crazy. My identity was stolen in the 70s. I didn't find out who it was until the 90s. I ended up changing my name legally. I found out a few years ago my Social Security number was on the dark web. I don't have the money to hire an attorney to help change my number.

My friend supposedly won a nice pair of tenny shoes for two dollars on FB, all she had to do was pay two dollars, which she did. She was immediately charged $59.00 to her account, also triggering another charge of $92.00 for something else. She immediately went to her bank and was able to stop it, but be careful when purchasing or winning anything on the computer!!!

People keep saying "the system's broken" and I've been saying the same thing but if this is the case in almost every aspect of life... then it's not just the "system" it's the folks in charge of the system etc. I think the system, the folks in charge of the system, and the criminal users of said system are probably all the same types of people/entities. If the people that ran things companies, agencies, govt, etc weren't led by criminal corrupt bad actors then no way the systems could be so thoroughly perverted and used by other criminal corrupt bad actors.

He refused to allow the movers to pick up her stuff..saying 'take it up with law enforcement' (he's basically stealing her stuff)...yet isnt he also breaking the law by not only going through her stuff..but also basically stealing it (preventing the movers from picking it up)?

While I appreciate the reporting, I was shocked to see reporter and others going thru the evidence WITHOUT any gloves! There are finger prints, etc that can help cops.
How did the realtor do "due diligence"??? He accepted an i.d. with a different picture if I understood.
Are we a tad dense. The I.D. had a different picture than the real persons name that is on the I.d. It will have the picture of the criminal who came to rent the place.
The Suspect put their photo on someone else’s valid ID card, presumably the person who the Suspect figured out or stole their SSN from. I checks ID’s at a bar, underage college students do this all the time. Some States offer better security measures to identify a fake ID but it can be very difficult to detect even for people who check ID’s for a living.

You are and someone might come asking for you to prove that it is not yours even though you are in possession of it.. Sometimes it might be better to take pictures of it all but be happy to let them take their stuff and get them out and leave it up to law enforcement to do their jobs....
