The chords from their woodwinds to their brass line give me Drum Corp augmented chord/ mellophone lick vibes, the arrangement is just so well written and played amazingly! SU’s was good but A bit muddled at points , but when they went full force in the last 10 seconds, that was 🔥. Great job by both but JSU in my opinion took this one!
JSU made SU go get they own switch for this beating. But whoever at Crankfest production thought this location and setup was a good idea was smoking what who arranged SU version. Next year take it to The Vet in Jackson
JSUs is just so clean and catchy. It captures the style of the song and still blows. SUs sounds like it just wants to be loud. Only the trombones are capturing the feel of the song.

I don't think they let any band enter before the Sonic Boom anymore because about 4 years ago su's band pushed through and practically trampled the female police officer, who was at the entrance, after they were told they couldn't march in before the Boom. The band director had already been told that the band couldn't come in yet. They rushed in because they wanted to drown out Get Ready during the SBOTS entrance.
I think the distinction between the two is JSU was competing with SU here they were simply playing the song as they have been all season. Southern was obviously Impressed by the arrangement and wanted to make an attempt at proving themselves to the crowd lmfao SU wasn’t horrible but they were pressed and it showed!! JSU with the W!! I don't think they let any band enter before the Sonic Boom anymore because about 4 years ago su's band pushed through and practically trampled the female police officer, who was at the entrance, after they were told they couldn't march in before the Boom. The band director had already been told that the band couldn't come in yet. They rushed in because they wanted to drown out Get Ready during the SBOTS entrance.

I think the distinction between the two is JSU was competing with SU here they were simply playing the song as they have been all season. Southern was obviously Impressed by the arrangement and wanted to make an attempt at proving themselves to the crowd lmfao SU wasn’t horrible but they were pressed and it showed!! JSU with the W!! SU played that arrangement all over the place, sounded like fuss at a fish-fry... Being loud at the end didn't help either... The crowd cheers didn't save them either.
