    That's the cat's meow. Original is where it's at. And, such low mileage is unheard-of. It's a treasure. I hope the owners keep it forever.

      I agree, it is like a time capsule riding it in. They do parades and events with their kids so I think they'll have it and keep good care of it for decades to come. The current owners father in law hounded the original owner for years just for a chance to get it in the family. Thank you for watching!

    I was born in 1951 and grew with these Chevies around - both the '53 and '54 are my favorites of that era.
    A neighbor around the corner had a yellow & white '54 Bel Air, 4-door, 3-speed, who once in a while gave me a ride to school!
    In addition, my grandpa bought a brand-new black '53 Pontiac Chieftain 4-door 8-in-line Hydramatic which he kept until 1962. I still remember the metallic low sound of the L8 engine, purring like a wild cat ready to jump.
    And my dad bought in the mid-60s a second-hand '57 Chevy 210 sierra gold & indian ivory (similar but darker than your '54 colors). It was a 4-door sedan, 6-cyl, 3-speed, single owner. This is the car where I learned to drive at 14 yo.
    Last but not least, I saw a bunch of '53 and '54 still around until the late '60s - curiously some of them were used as taxi and had Powerglide transmission!

      That is super cool, I can't imagine how neat it would have been to see these rides out on the road everywhere. Thank you so much for watching and sharing. A '57 is on my dream car list, hopefully one day I can snag one to fix up!

    I'm 78 and Dad bought a 1954 brown four door Chevy and I will be getting our one owner soon. It has been under a car port for the last 40 to 50 years. Everything intact. Excited to get it. Three speed shift on the column.

    Yeah. I remember when these were new and they were all over the place. Many were still on the road well into the 60's. Don't recall one in this color though.

    Ours was navy blue with BABY BLUE top and side stripe. I never saw another with that combo. All were Navy and white.
    3 on the tree, fender skirts.
    BEST thing as a kid, was the hidden ashtray in the dash.
    I repainted the black areas in the wheel covers and cleaned the wheel covers every year as a kid. I thoughr they were like jewelry.
    Enjoy this rolling time machine.

    My older sister had bought one in the early 60’s from a classmate. Same color, 2 Dr hardtop, automatic. Paid $90 for it. I was 15 at the time and begged her to sell it to me if she ever decided to sell it. I came home from school one day and there sat a new VW Beetle. I said where’s your car and she said she traded it in. I was so disappointed. I called the dealer and they said one of the mechanics bought it immediately after she traded it in. I’ve wanted one ever since. Great sister right!

    I knew the original owner and the car was kept in great condition. He and his son drove it to Chicago and back at 55 mph. It won a prize for being the only car driven to the event.

    I drove my '54 210 4-door Powerglide for 6 years in high school and college. It was "goat puke green" (Sea Foam green) when I got it, and painted it twice. I love that Phoenix Tan! Note the steering wheel and inside trim match the exterior color! Very cool! 👍 Why did they switch to 12-volt? Not needed with no power options.

    • @CLASSICSAREBETTER
      @CLASSICSAREBETTER  2 года назад +1

      I bet that was a killer ride in high school! I'm not 100% sure why they switched it ti 12v, I think there was a wiring issue and it was going to cost about the same to switch so they just upgraded for reliability for doing parades and stuff, but I could be wrong.

    Excellent presentation here. There is one little error that you should be aware of. The 54 Powerglide version of the engine was the Blue Flame 125 rated at 125 hp. The 55 version of the Blue Falme six was the one with the 136 hp. rating. The first year of this much improved version of the 235 was the 53, which was rated at 115 hp.

    That is a beauty! I am currently working on getting my 54 Sport Coupe into paint. It's taken me 2 1/2 years of hard work. I wonder what the value of that is???

      Thanks for watching, good luck on your 54! Far as the value, I don't really know to be honest. They are still popular cars 70 yrs later, so can't go wrong fixing one up.

    Great looking old Chevy. I had a 54 2 door. Loved the car but the vapor locking drove me nuts. I was afraid to turn engine off because there was 50/50 chance it wouldn't restart.

      The previous owner of my '54 said he had some trouble with vapor lock and put several wooden CLOTHES PINS on the fuel line. I took em off and never had any trouble with vapor lock, driving it for 6 years. 😀

    Not the original spare! Wouldn’t have been a narrow whitewall. A couple of unnecessary mods like the 12 Volt conversion. It’s a nice car.

      @CLASSICSAREBETTER  10 месяцев назад

      Interesting to know! Guess it was replaced back in the day, I get what you mean on the 12v system, but the update keeps them using & enjoying it which keeps it on the road at least.

      "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley and His Comets ( released May 1954 ) would've been the appropriate choice of song for the showcasing of this car for this video in my opinion.

  • @craigjorgensen4637

    Have concerns about the original miles. The spare is NOT an original. It’s a narrow white which weren’t around then. Seat material isn’t original and a few other things Ike engine repaint etc.😊

    GM stuck with the fat fendered look WAY too long. I was a teenager in the mid to late fifties, and "car nuts" like us considered the early 50's Chevys to be old ladies cars. The inline-6 engines didn't help either.
