When things settle down for me I would love to support you guys on patreon. You’d be the first. I love how you not only say how how to make the recipe at home but you list alternative ingredients, how it’s done differently in a restaurant, and the science behind it. A beautiful synergy between art and science.
Your dad just adores his grandson. And he is interested in every little thing his grandson does. Every little face or sound that he makes. To watch such a loving grandfather in action is truly inspiring.
Omg. When your dad fed you that green bean, it hit me right in the feels. Coming from an Asian family, that moment is true love from a parent. They will never say the words "I love you", but instead they show it in their actions. And the way he was with Cam? Your dad is the real MVP here.
9:53 Don't take this moment for granted, Randy. Your dad is very special. I'm 44 and my dad never looked at me the way he is looking at Cam. You are very very lucky.
13:40 most of us know how hard restaurant work is, but hearing it from your your mom makes it much more emotional. And that reminded us the sacrifice made by our parents to bring us to where we are today. Thank you for sharing
I am from Guangzhou, and I enjoy hearing your dad's Cantonese so much! He used so many "local phases" - 咸野, 飞水 lol Watching his video makes me miss home even more.
I love watching how proud Daddy Lau is of grandson. He's constantly playing and looking to make sure he doesn't get his hands on hot food. The Love shines strong and I love nothing goes to waste. I am privileged to have met him and your wonderful family.
I discovered this channel only recently, and I love it. I love watching your dad cook. My wife and I like beans, and we grow our own. Last night we picked some and I made this dish - from plant to plate in less than 30 minutes. Absolutely delicious. Sooooo good.
My inlaws grow some long beans in their agri plot. The beans are really long more than 3 feet in length.😂😅.Harvest time we will be eating long beans daily til we do not know what style and recipe to cook it.😅😅😂❤
Are you kidding? We want to see EVERY recipe Daddy Lau knows. 👍🤤 I have never heard of seafood mushrooms. Yet another homework assignment. I’m off to educate myself on this ingredient. Does anyone else feel like that is the luckiest, happiest baby on the planet?
That was really a good holistic sharing on cooking green beans or French beans. Your video is so inspiring also the story of the 1st generation Chinese in USA. Greetings from Malaysian Chinese here.
I'm continually impressed by your recipes, storytelling, and production quality. Keep it up! This format is also something that my partner wished she did done with her family, so thank you for sharing your journey
Love to watch your Dad cook. The Chef in him still comes through. Love to her him speak, love to hear Cantonese been spoken understand few inbetween words😊 Best wishes to Dad and all your Family.
I learn a lot about how to cook and fry green beans or French beans to make it crunchy from this video and mixing tauchui or fermented brown soya beans and or fermented black beans paste.or even dark soya sauce. Chinese restaurant in China and South East Asia seems to use these a lot in their cooking. In Malaysia they usually use brown fermented soya beans paste+ ginger ,garlic and sugar in steaming fish dish-Very delicious. I like the tips sifu gave in adding a little corn flour and water in the final stir fry French beans is more expensive than Long beans over here. However French beans is more crunchy than long beans which i always add as part of the recipe for fried rice which include meat-free or vegetarian fried rice too.😊 Thank you
Thank you so much for this channel. As a Bangladeshi who loves Chinese culture this is a gem- just made your general tsp’s chicken which my family LOVED. This channel is also a good way for me to practise Cantonese - although one humble request. Is it ok if you include halal or religious-friendly alternatives? Just simple stuff like what to replace cooking wine with and if the recipe works without pork. Besides that, keep up the work! 非常感谢您!
Anyone else watching to see if Cam figures out how to turn on the oven? I love that he has his own seat at the table now! Please have your dad make that noodle dish for us! I couldn't keep my eyes off of it!
Thank you for this recipe , you mentioned about asking for other green bean recipes well I have a favourite I always ask for when we go out to dinner, I can make it at home but I would love the authentic recipe it’s green beans with pork ,,, thank you once again 🙏🏽🌈🌸🌸
hello mr lau, watched your cooking of chow mein and chicken congee. both dish liked your use of sauces - usually at home for me a student i use one sauce or vinegar added. your children are nice to let you cook still. my father at 70 and i at 35 he still kicked me out to have me cook. just heard my father called me you are studying too hard. thank you randy for your film. elle for nice recipes picks
Thank you so much for having me in your kitchen & table Food breaks all barriers and makes us all one. I'm out tomorrow to buy a wok and start cooking. ✌🏻💖😎
Made this today and it was so good. This was the first time i've used the bean sauce and the seafood mushrooms. I am in love with both. i can see why the bean sauce is used in so many recipes. Thank you for displaying your dad's cooking and his recipes.
Hi Randy! My mom cooked green beans with garlic and fermented bean curd. It’s something I do now for my family. But I like your father’s recipe, too- will try it this way. We love cooking veggies and the Chinese culture recognizes and utilizes such a wide variety. So healthy! Cam continues to grow into a handsome tyke and your parents are wonderful communicators,😊😊😊
Thank you for the recipe. I love you Dad’s technique. I love that the family eats together after cooking. Thank you for educating us. The baby is cute!
Thank you so much for another amazing recipe and family time! The Granpa and Grandson moments were truly adorable! We can leave the house a bit tomorrow and will get the ingredients we don't have and prepare this. Thank you again : )
I made this for dinner tonight! It was really good - your Dad is an excellent teacher 😌 Enjoyed hearing your Mom talk about living in China. Reminds me of my grandmother’s stories. Do keep up the videos. We all enjoy them so much ❤️
Loving all the veggie dishes!!! ❤️❤️ You guys are really the best thing I discovered all year. I’d love to see kinds of dishes with Chinese cabbage. Thanks daddy Lau for passing on all your knowledge!!
Yr mom always provides good background information and context. I like green beans with fuyu and pork; green beans with pork ribs in black bean sauce or sauteed with garlic and oyster sauce, never bean sauce.
Thank you for sharing this authentic recipe. I used to make filipino style shumai but I really want the taste like the dim sum shumai in the restaurant. I was wondering if I used the wrong cut of meat. Turns out I’m missing a lot of steps and seasonings. How your dad made the shumai was very detailed and passionate. It’s an art. Thank you so much I learned a lot. ❤
Another excellent video production and storytelling! So many moments that caused me to tear up and think of my own parents. My mom too grew up in poverty, lived in a wooden home, slept on a wooden bed without a mattress and used kerosene fueled lamp for light to help her study and finish her education. Our parents are so strong and resilient and I’m so proud of them and how far they’ve come, and to survive a pandemic! You’re so blessed, your parents adore you and your family. The noodle dish looks amazing 🤩 Recipe please!!! :)
Green beans are just starting to produce in most home vegetable gardens now here in the Pacific Northwest, so more green bean recipes would be welcomed. Great channel and very nice family. If you have a vegetable garden plant some Fortex climbing green beans, they are delicious.
Made this dish last night and it was perfect! I added chicken breast slices after velveting it to it, and it was so similar to what my mom made growing up. Thank you again for your amazing recipes :) Your recipes are keeping me connected during the pandemic to my family who is across the country right now. I haven't seen them for over a year and miss my mom's cooking so much.
My favorite Chinese dish is Szechuan green beans. I actually prefer not to boil them first and to dry fry them slowly in the wok without added moisture. They wrinkle up a little and shrivel and I just love the taste and texture when done that way. But I have been known to cook them this way too! Any way, beans are great.
Just made this tonight. Best green bean dish I've made in my life thus far. ;p Thanks for the easy and tasty recipe! More green bean recipes please~~~!
Mr. Lau's recipe are good for family, I love it. Here a special request "特別要求教煮椒鹽豬扒" because I never succeeded in making it crispy, I am not sure what's go wrong, could be the wok, the oil or the batter. Please let me know the right way to do it home Mr. Lau!
im actually hoping to see more authentic recipes like how you dad would have cooked in the restaurant. Maybe a mixture of both healthy and original version?
Hi guys! 😊 I’ve only just found your amazing channel while looking how to make Siu mai so i’m a new subbie & now binge-watching your family recipes and you all rock!😁💃🏾 Thank you & much love from England UK ❤️🇬🇧

My old scanpan skillet actually works better to stir fry on my gas stove than my well seasoned wok..!
@@johncspine2787 hi John. I wish I had a gas stove. ✌🏻😎
