    I had a older brother with Downs Syndrome, who absolutely adored TinTin and one of the things he could was remember every dialogue ever written, in all the books, and this video just brought a pang to my heart as I didnt know.....thank you, for once again telling me stories about my own city, that I never knew....

      I have heard of Palle Huld, but I had no idea that "Palle alene i Verden" was referring to him. Interesting tidbit. :)

    Never heard of this amazing story of Palle Huld even I read Tintin in Denmark 🇩🇰 as boy in 1970s.

    Despite having seen a lot of Tin Tin in television and books I had no clue he was inspired by Palle the Danish adventurer. Thanks for informing us.

    Yes, Palle Huld became a real legend. :-) His adventures might very well have inspired Georges Remi. Btw, your translation of the word 'rask' is a bit off. In this context, it would be more accurate to translate it with "enthusiastisk" or "energetic" - it basically means someone who's not afraid to go out there and does not shy away from challenges. Exactly like Tintin. ;-)

    Did you know that the unicorn is a ship gifted to Herge on his official visit to Denmark and you can this day today go to Musée Hergé in Belgium to see it.

    By the way, Palle Huld went on to become a popular actor in Denmark. He died at the age of 98 in 2010. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palle_Huld

      In the 30's he and his girlfriend went motorbiking on a Danish Nimbus around the Mediterreanen and to Persia. The music is not from the 30's though...ruclips.net/video/knSQvPXh2h8/видео.html

      Yes I read that! I haven't seen anything he's in but once I showed him to my husband (who'd never heard of this story) he immediately recognised him from a few things! Was he on a level of fame where all Danes would know his name?

      He was a well known actor in the 40s to 80s, but most often not as a main character, more in side roles. But I guess most Danes would have known him back then. He did have a role in Matador and in Huset på Christianshavn, both of which every Dane knows, and in one of the Olsen Banden films. danskefilm.dk/skuespiller.php?id=784

    We never get credit for anything :’( when I was in Santa Barbara a lot of Americans thought Denmark was the capital of Sweden. I had no idea tintin was inspired by a danish boy.

      It's so true but Denmark has actually offered so much to the world! When I lived in London, people would hear I was married to a Dane and ask me if I spoke Dutch...... 🙄😂

    The documentary Hergé, Tin Tin and me, by Anders Østergaard don’t mention this at all.
    I do not believe this.

      @@ErininCopenhagen Tak i lige måde :) I lived for almost 20 years in Copenhagen, more specifically Nørrebro and Amager. I now live in Fredericia, Jutland. I like my new town but have to admit I miss my old hometown some times - A LOT :D It's a wonderful town, have a great time over there..

      The cartoonist Hergé, who created Tintin was from Belgium yes, but his inspiration for the character came from the travel adventures of Palle Huld, who was Danish.

    Interesting video but I still find Leon Degrelle as the best inspiration for Tintin. He’s Belgian not Danish, and was regarded as an inspiration for his creation.
