Looking back on how disappointing Starlight Glimmer's backstory was, it was probably wise of the writers to keep Cozy's a mystery and let fans make their own interpretations. Case in point, Aleximusprime's story about her over on Fimfic. That really gave some depth to her that I don't think the writers would've been allowed to add.

It wasn't disappointing for starlight glimmers backstory I enjoyed it it showed that she wanted friends so badly but found out after battle with twilight that what she was doing wasn't the right way about it it makes sense that someone can yearn to have friends that are more equal because of how there are some ponies in mlp that earn their cutie mark together and sometimes the other friends are left behind it reminds me a bit of what almost happened with the cutie mark crusaders except they decided not to treat each other different or not to leave each other for new friends once they got there cutie marks also that led to her becoming a great hero in battle against Cristaless

@@ShawnPickettPauleynot true there are some ponies that get left behind that earn there's later just like starlight like cutiemark crusaders they didn't have cutie marks but all the other ponies in there class did then in a later episode they started experimenting with other peoples cutie marks and eventually got them together but because that happened with cutie mark crusaders it makes sense that starlight glimmer would want her world to have ponies to be equel

I always kind of thought that she wasn't a real kid but adoult looking like one. Remember villian Doll from Batman? Something along those lines. Not to mention that for some time many thought that it's just Chrysalis in disguise :3
i don't think cozy glow was a child. this villain is inspired by a villain from the batman animated series in the 90s called baby doller, a 30 year old woman trapped in a child's body. so cozy glow must be an adult trapped in a child's body.

I've never really understood her end goal. Even Starlight Glimmer being a counselor cannot even begin to understand the student that trapped her in a magic orb for several hours.I can only conclude that she in unhinged, seeks opportunities at the expense of others. I can almost her being a daughter to Svengallop who is a master at manipulation. I don't know if your theory about having evil parents holds up. You don't have to have evil upbringers to become evil. In the MLP FiM comic Issue 65, Scarlet and Winter Comet were raised badly by Auntie Shadowfall, but did not fall under the same evils as her. One thing is for sure, imprisonment in Tartarus or being a stone statue for 1000 years won't purify her for sure.
My fav theory is the one how cozy could represent how power can corrupt because it reminds me of how spider man had the symbiote suit and how it corrupted him over time

Do you think Twilight Sparkle, Spike and the rest of the group along with the CMC would have helped her get over whatever trauma she felt from her past thus preventing her turn to darkness?

Because she has seemingly no backstory, it’s always fun to speculate. I HIGHLY doubt CozyGlow was Discords creation because if she was it would likely mean she could control Discords power being a spawn from it but we see in season 9 she can’t. I kinda doubt she’s connected to any of the other villains that we currently know and to me magic brainwashing seems unrealistic for her because any other pony who had been effected by magic to control them had physical notes hinting at it. My theory is that CozyGlow was possibly a lonely child, it seems more logical to see her growing up alone with her parents or guardians not giving her the attention she wanted or possibly she has the ability to get others to do what she wants like DiamondTiara and instead of passively using it she used it for evil and that’s where her thirst for power and her twisted perspective of friendship being power comes from. I see her more as an unstable pony grasping at straws to get the attention she desperately needs to feel comfortable, which if this is the case it’s really sad how her story ended and the fact Twilight decided to save Starlight who had done possibly worse but decided to imprison CozyGlow, a child, instead of rehabilitating her like she did with Starlight is messed up and makes me question Twilights morals 😅

Remember when the comics reveal King Sombra's back story with princess Amore? Despite his small appearances in the main series. Along with the origins of Chrysalis and Tirek I wished they would do that with Cozy Glow and reveal her origins in the comics, such as how she was able to learn the spell and is she the one who gave Twilight's book to Flim and Flam?

If she’s an orphan, how did she get into the school of friendship? Pretty sure Twilight isn’t just taking random kids off the street and actually gets signed permission from their legal parent or guardians.

gallus was an orphan. In the episode of the eighth Christmas season he says that he does not have a family, he lives on the streets and his uncle Griffon is not his uncle, he is just the one who, because he is the leader of his race, gave Twilight permission to take care of an orphan of her race but as a princess and cozy being a pony then I would have the right to take care of her. It's just my theory, I don't guarantee anything, literally I only adopted her on my channel because as the creators of the series responded: "Whoever says that girl has parents" is a probability but I can't guarantee it.
Maybe there is no reason and she really is just rotten to the core. Not all bad people have to have a tragic back story to make them be evil.

I remember watching a video from a guy that said cosyglow being sent to tartaus for eternity(in their world hell) is wrong because she’s a kid, and that there’s a great possibility she could be redeemed, that there wasn’t much of this is what you did wrong, and this is why. However that was all explained to her and cosyglow’s reaction was to reject kindness and friendship. The guy said he couldn’t fathom why some people were totally okay with her going to pony hell for eternity. The thing is it’s obivious she can’t be reformed, she’s at least 8 years old, and she shows no remorse for her actions, and is shown to not really have any feeling or care about other’s feelings. She’s the perfect definition of a syschopath, she can act like she has feelings and cares about others feelings, but it’s shown she obviously can’t feel much of anything, and doesn’t have a moral compass because she doesn’t feel any emotions someone with a good aproaite moral compass has. Her cutie mark is a chess piece, and it’s red(for evil, or just really bad girl pony). Her cutie mark represents her being evil and being highly manipulative.

I don’t think she necessarily needs a complicated backstory to explain her villainy, it’s possible she was just born evil. I also don’t think she’d be a Canterlot elite because she’s a Pegasus while Canterlot is a unicorn city. I think her backstory is as simple as her parents realizing she was having trouble making friends and sending her to the school of friendship to try to help her. I think the fact that we don’t see her parents is probably down to them living in another city, similar to the way we never see Scootaloo’s parents because they’re always out of town.
