In this video we start a new dinosaur park in Jurassic World Evolution 2 that aims to recreate Jurassic Park with a focus on dinosaur welfare. We start by creating a guest entrance with amenities as well as an operations centre for our staff, and then create the first habitat of our park - to house 5 intelligent Dilophosaurus!

About the feeders, it is a lot more ethical in this case to have live feeders that release animals because then the Dilos are getting enrichment from hunting and preforming natural behaviors. It sucks for the goats yeah but I don’t think this game has feeders akin to how some zoos feed cheetahs where they drag a piece of meat across a stretch of land in order to satisfy hunting instincts. It might do you well to include some of the straight up meat feeders too to feed scavenging instincts too!

@@Goofyahhpaleofan I get what you mean but that’s a risk every predator takes in order to hunt. I don’t think the Dilos here would run much risk because of the sheer body weight and size difference but irl, lions hunt cape buffalo. Lions go out and hunt cape buffalo and either they bring one down and have to deal with the whole herd wanting revenge, they unfortunately pass away or they get their kill. Tigers hunt sloth bears. Wolves hunt Bison. Weasels hunt rabbits. Not every predator hunts prey like deer that rely purely on running away to escape predators. If we want to theoretically create an ethical zoo, we have to choose between creating an idealistic utopia where no animals die and a realistic habitat for the dinosaurs we’re adding and I personally am more of the opinion that the latter is more believable, more ethical and is more of an interesting thought experiment because thankfully this is a video game and not irl.
@@LeviAckerman-cl6iy Yeah but irl, in captivity it can be considered very dangerous. Like live feeding snakes, there’s a ton of cases of rodents hurting snakes.
Trees in tropical environments often end up “ in the lake” after rainfalls cause the lake to expand. I like the flooded forest look you can achieve with being able to place trees in water

For the dinos that don’t have 1993 skins the default selection is movie accurate, you can also use the species viewer to check what the skins look like on the actual dinosaurs

Interesting note about the Dilophosaurs, in the book, they were actually described as being just taller than humans and their posion spit was a terrifying surprise to JP staff when they were introduced. The mentions of venom and poison was a lot more pervasive in the book, with even the compys having a poison in their bites which lulled the victim jnto a sleepy euphoria as they were eaten.
If memory servers correctly I believe it was the compys that are Hammond in the book when he fell/slipped. I need to find the novel again.

As a modern day reptile keeper, the general consensus is its better to feed pre-killed foods. That way you don't have to deal with feeding them a live animal, but it's also safer for the reptiles, so that they can't get hurt in the struggle (rats can easily kill snakes if they get the chance), and you don't put them at risk of getting parasites

It’s definitely a struggle to choose which but everyone seems to have some really good reasons for / against 🙈
Animal Care student here! To elaborate on that, its actually illegal to feed live vertebrates in the UK! This is because of our law that prohibits the unnecessary suffering of animals. Insects are fine to feed live as their nervous system is so different, and live feeding of a vertebrate can only be done if the reptile is basically starving to death if it refuses already dead prey and a vet advises it! The whole debate seems like a really boring topic but once you get into the nitty gritty, there is so much to it!@@PawsBuild

Doctor Malcom would NOT consider any Jurassic Park in ANY context "ethical" to be fair. The moment you're bringing extinct animals to life, he'd be all "Ah, but yes... not you see, uh... that is... uh not ethical though, hm, is it?"
In my opinion, bringing extinct animals to life *can* be ethical, but said animals need to have been killed by humans, gone extinct in the Holocene, and can still be reintroduced to their environment. All of the non-avian dinosaurs in Jurassic Park don't fit these criteria.

IIRC, Dr. Malcom was upset that they were trying to run the park as a Safari instead of a zoo. A zoo can be controlled, but a safari is wild and chaotic and a disaster waiting to happen, as we saw. It's been a few years since I've read it, granted, but I'm pretty sure that was his main sticking point.

Yes sorry for the delay to the PZ series I’ve tried to explain it on a community post but I know they don’t get pushed to everyone, but in short I’ve been stuck with the series by v frequent Franchise Mode crashes when I try and record which I know Frontier are working on fixing so hopefully it’ll be back up and running for me v soon! Really great to know you’d be interested in watching this game too though - especially while we wait for the PZ fix ☺️
Its really not that complicated. There are tutorials that can help u, and after like a week of playing youd get used to it

Also, the OG Dilo skin is Salar del Huasco + Rana. I think you have to research the Rana pattern
Also also, if you’re going for wide-open enclosures you could try putting the “Fussy” gene on rather than Intelligent since that increases their habitat requirements rather than just making them more prone to break out!

You dont need to have multiple hatcheries. You can airlift the dinosaurs from the hatchery to anywhere in the park.

Glad to see another person get into the game! I’m a huge fan of this game, so I’ll definitely be watching this series. Quick tip by the way! If you click on the cloud icon in the hatchery, it’ll display a dinosaurs needs before you even create them!
The skin for the original dilophosaurus is the base skin they start out with in the hatchery or Salar Del Huasca and then the pattern is Rana.
Small recommendation/FYI.
The modules on the amenities cost you extra money to have on, they're wasting money if you haven't got guest in your park.
The 4 guest types actually shows which of the types of guest are visiting that particular amenity. You can tweak the modules to "Appeal" to the higher percentage of guests that are visiting your amenity, therefore earning more dollarinos/profit for that particular amenity.
I follow someone who did an unethical build (which is his channel basis), but I just could not watch it, so grateful to have found this!

I could see either way with the live feeders, on one hand the enrichment is good for the dinosaurs but on the other, do you think its good to be teaching these guys about hunting/killing? (side eyeing that "intelligent" trait) 😅

when we are talking about a group of carnivores (3+) i always put down the minimal amount of prey, and one or two normal feeders. this way there is always enough food, even for the dinos that dont hunt fst enough and are left with goat bones

I greatly enjoyed the original Jurassic Park Operation Gensis. Seeing this makes me very happy and I do hope to see how your park grows. Getting started may be hard but fun at the same time, especially when you first introduce the dinosaurs to your park and watch them run/stomp around.

The base genome of the Dilophosaurus is primarily dark green, with red, yellow and white stripes adorning various parts of the body.

I would totally buy Jurassic Park themed Buiness wear.
I think live feeders are best because it provides the most enrichment, and idk about the game's mechanics but in real life an animal is less likely to try to escape if the space it lives in is stimulating enough as is
Also these are hunting carnivores, anyone complaining about live feeding doesn't care about ethics

Personally, I'd place the emergency bunkers closer to the Viewing Galleries. Guests will congregate in those areas, making it vital to keep safety features nearby. Especially since Dilos are quick bastards.

To get the JP skin for the Dilo, you’ll need to get the rana pattern, then use the Salar De Huasco skin :)
