  • Hey All! This is one of the most unique slasher films I've ever seen. I've seen some people describe it as 'artsy', but I wouldn't quite go that far. This one was bloody disgusting at times, however it was also a good horror movie.
    This video is NOT a replacement for the original film, and is solely for commentary purposes. Please watch the original film.

    Right there with ya, man - the older I’ve gotten, the less gore I can take. And this was rough, not quite Terrifier rough, but still brutal af.

    Just leaving a comment that I am coming back to watch this in the morning. I've already seen this movie 3x, and I loved it lol Looking forward to your commentary.

    I actually enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would. The only thing I didn't like was then showing his face completely, I loved the mystery about him, but I do like the white eyes. The ending was also great, I constantly expected him to jump out the wood and grab the final girl.

      Hey my man, thanks for dropping in again! Yes that ending was particularly brutal for me. The anticipation of them being attacked abruptly was killing me

      @@mikewatchesstuff given the description of the vicious bear attacks that the woman was describing and her brother's ordeal, I suspect that he was actually attacked by Johnny.

    It's not standard definition, it's a 4:3 aspect ratio to emphasise the height of the trees etc

    I truly liker the idea of him walking under the water and not once coming up. Like a lake shark

    It's more the make up of the kills is what turns most fans on 💯

    I have a teenage son and ever since I became a mother I cannot do gore (or see children being harmed). This movie seems so interesting but I could never watch it. Thank you for this sanitized version!

      Ah, maybe for a different reason than myself, but it appears I'm not the only one! I saw some pretty horrible things in the military (thankfully I was spared) and even still I find gory stuff hard to handle. I'm glad I could make it digestible for you!

    My thoughts on John/Johnny:
    He’s an animal, basically the only word I have for it. I loved the story the woman told at the end, it ties to Johnny perfectly. He’s even attracted to noise and light instinctively just like one.
    He definitely has fractured memories from his past, but his “violent nature” (lol) is what drives him. He wears the mask as a form of comfort I’d imagine, it’s a link to his father and part of his death.
    I think Colt got axed for so long because he directly challenged and insulted Johnny, and Johnny probably reaaaaaally hates being made fun of…
    On the logsplitter kill:
    I have a hard time sitting through extreme gore myself, the yoga kill in this movie definitely made me look away a couple times because… Yeah lol. But it takes a LOT to make me look away. With crazy slasher kills, I find entertainment by asking “How did they do this and make it look REAL?” Like in the logsplitter scene, the actor’s eyes are moving before his head is split in two. I couldn’t look away because I was trying to figure out how they pulled it off.
    I loved this one! Really hoping for a physical release🤞

    Like your reactions. I had mixed feelings about this - saw it in the theater - but afterwards I appreciated it more. I’ve just not really watched anything like it.
    Just a good example that you don’t need to spend a ton of $$ to keep many folks entertained.
    Not sure if you did Caveat a couple of years ago, but the director just did Oddity. Both small indie films that just were really good.

      Hi my friend, your request for Oddity is now uploaded. What a film it was! I have not yet seen Caveat. I do remember seeing that rabbit-thing in some promotional stuff for it

    I watched about the first 12 minutes here but I think I'll check the movie out before I see your complete reaction. Looks really good so far. Love the lack of a music score as well.

      Can't go wrong there! I do appreciate you trying to watch this without having seen it yet. I try to make the reactions in a way where someone who hasn't seen the movie will still be able to follow

      @@mikewatchesstuff Yeah, eventually though I'd get closer to seeing who's dying or who's left and at least have an idea how it ends. I was even considering watching the entire reaction for those first 12 minutes lol. Cheers.

      I still need to sit down and check out the movie you mentioned before, Disturbing Behavior I think it was called?

      @@mikewatchesstuff lol yeah that's right. The one that reminded me of The Faculty because it came out so close to it and it involved high school kids who act way different than who they are. I don't want to hype it too much but it wasn't that bad IMO. I would prefer The Faulty if I were to choose between the two though.

      Hey Pauline! I haven't done a music reaction since last December. I got kind of burned out on them for a few reasons. I've only uploaded a few cycling videos on the channel lately 😞 why do you ask?

    I had a thought about the part where he is hitting the guy over and over with the axe...I wonder if he actually is or if it's more of a reference to something like PTSD, where things can play over and over in your head. Like we still hear it even after she runs away, so is he still doing it or is she hearing it in her head. Also, I love how the nature sounds are so beautiful with Johnny, but when she is running in the woods, all you hear is animals screaming and chaos.

    • @mikewatchesstuff
      @mikewatchesstuff  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for dropping in again! I think you're right about hearing the thudding when she's running through the forest. Also, I think there's a bigger takeaway on what the woman driving the truck is telling her, and how it relates to the story. Something along the lines of the undead son being akin to the bear she's talking about, like or maybe something even deeper about why we as humans like horror movies? Not sure!

    • @paulinekeown2472

      @@mikewatchesstuff I initially thought the bear was actually Johnny, and they all thought it was a bear. It was a good metaphor for Johnny as a killer and slasher movies.

    • @mikewatchesstuff
      @mikewatchesstuff  3 месяца назад

      Oh man, that's a cool connection if that's the case! Thinking more about it, I was asking during the reaction why Johnny was killing people he knew didn't have the necklace, or why he killed people and didn't check for the necklace. But I get how the bear story connects now. Whatever the motivation, Johnny, just like the bear, just wanted to kill and commit violence.
