  • JJ Anisiobi says the Lucy Letby case has given him goosebumps and he would have preferred if "she had the death sentence."
It comes as Lucy Letby will be sent copies of victim impact statements read out during her sentencing after refusing to appear in court.
The 33-year-old did not appear in the dock at Manchester Crown Court on Monday as she was given a whole-life order after being convicted of the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of six more.
The judge, Mr Justice Goss, ordered that she be sent a transcript of his sentencing remarks and copies of the statements read out by the families of her victims.
He said: “The defendant, Lucy Letby, has refused to attend court for this sentence hearing. Accordingly, I have to sentence her in her absence.
“I shall deliver the sentencing remarks as if she was present to hear them. And I direct that she is provided with a transcript of my remarks and copies of the victim personal statements read to the court.”
The statement from the mother of twin boys Child E and Child F, who Letby was convicted of murdering and attempting to murder respectively, said her absence was “one final act of wickedness”.
She told the court: “Even in these final days of the trial she has tried to control things, the disrespect she has shown the families and the court show what type of person she is.

For that matter - do you think it acceptable that an innocent person can spend their life in prison for a crime that quite possibly never occured? Although this case is unbelievably appalling and sickening, and clearly there is a lot of outrage about it, we cannot go back to the middle ages where people were tortured and brutally executed for their crimes, or even turn time back a few decades when people were hanged for such crimes in the UK. I will however say this : being kept in a relatively comfortable cell for the rest of a person’s life with access to a library, TV, internet, a gymnasium etc in my view is insufficient punishment for such crimes. We need to rethink our judicial system in the UK because allowing a person who has murdered people to live happily ever after in a 3-star hotel environment at taxpayers’ cost is an insult to Britain’s law-abiding citizens.

British People dont behave like animals in Court. That would bring it down to the level of the criminals. The Courts behaviour has to be above that. If the studio guest doesn't realise that, then he is thick. New Rules & methods have to be broughtin for sentencing to be heard. Perhaps a camera & tv screen directky viewing into the Convicted Persons Cell, so they have to hear the sentence & the family can see their reaction to that, might be a possibility.

There is so much more to this case than meets the main stream media. And this channel is main streem. Yes we are all so sad for the parents of these very premature sick babies. I ask you to find one serial killer of the past that throughout their lives showed impeccable behaviour as Lucy Letby has done. There was no truancy from school no dropping out of school no negative reports from old friends who today testify to her innocence. No drinking too excess or drug taking. No negative reports from her nursing career. She was a dedicated conscientious nurse whose only sin if you will was caring too much about the families and babies. The doctors were being sued for negligence at the time. The place was understaffed and the water was contaminated. There were no autopsies nobody saw her doing anything untoward. The doctors were frantic to find a reason for this increase in deaths. She might not wanted to face the sentence because she was innocence. im happy there is going to be another trial. As it seems the doctors were above reproach. And the way you all are so quick to condemn this woman just tells me how nasty you all are. There could have been another explanation for the rise in death such as a rogue virus or infection. We will see. The Atlitt woman showed strange behaviour and insulin was found in all of them

Having said that, Jordan McSweeney is one of the few cases where I'd be unequivocally in favour of the death penalty.
Mostly because I think he is a genuine example of someone not capable of being rehabilitated.
He will always pose an unacceptable danger to other human beings, and won't even contribute anything valuable to society.
Letby may well fulfill the first criteria, however I think she is probably more intelligent and less of a waste of space than Jordan McSweeney, even if she can just crochet, knit, read or write letters.
She's not necessarily incapable of contributing something valuable from her prison cell.
    He is incapable.
Society would be better off without him entirely.
But then, the state doesn't really have the right to kill anybody, so there we are back to square one. Just keep him/them locked up so society can be safe.

It is considered acceptable for a jury to 'guess' someone's guilt or innocence. In this case - probably as in most cases - there is no proof of guilt. Just circumstantial evidence. How can you sentence potentially innocent people to death? I don't think you should be convicting potentially innocent people - even life in prison is horrific when you appreciate that it's so easy to convict innocent people.
