  • In this video I take a log from a Plum tree with some cool looking grain and make a natural edge bowl ..I coated the bark with sanding sealer to help stabilise it and finished the piece with Danish oil ..

My grandad used to be a wood turner growing up I would constantly be stood watching him from a safe distance in his workshop making bowls and cups the sound of the machine spinning round and and the smell of wood will never leave me. Great memories come flooding back watching this video I’m now studying to become a carpenter!

Once again @AndyPhillip, you've blown my mind. I took woodworking in High School, and used a lathe on two separate occasions, never imagined that this type of work could be done. One thing I find funny, and looking back I understand it now. As students we had to use a wood file to round off our blocks. The reason, students often damaged the knives trying round things off. I was easier to replace a wood file then it was to replace or resharpen a knife. LOL. Thanks again for sharing your amazing work.

In the last week or so since you popped up in my recommended again, I've watched several videos where you turn a lopsided piece. Always a beautiful piece, always fantastic to watch.
But every single time it gives me anxiety when you first start, as I've seen several people (irl) bust their chisels by going in too far or really mess up their hand by getting smacked with the wood.
Love the videos, love the final products, and even through the terror I love how you get through the start without smashing your hand or breaking your chisel 😂

I think we all have a special talent for something in particular, that we are given naturally and over time that ability, it is filling us with good morning throughout our life, the bad thing about my profession is that it can cost me my life in an instant, but at the same time it makes me proud to know the well-being that people receive for my work as an electrician, in my case my friend, to have to be 100% focused on what you do for long hours since it depends on that you mutilate a finger, a hand or an arm is hard, but I think that at the end of the day you stay in front of what you have created and I can assure you that it fills you with pride just like me and you wonder, which house will you decorate or in What banquet will be used to serve and look good. Your art is beautiful Philip and functional, that you and your whole family are well and until the next video.
