note the reason that the elgato wave picks up more audio is because it is a condenser microphone while the mv7 is a dynamic
Although that's a fair point, I noticed a big difference between the Elgato Wave 3 and other similar condenser mics I'd try. The Blue Yeti, for example picks up a lot less background noise as standard.
Dunno why, This was mainly right channel for me.
Yeah I messed it up somehow. It was user error not mic error. See the main review to hear it properly.
I have a SM7B and I bought the Wave 3 simply for its interface. You can mute the Wave 3 and run your mixer as a input into the Wave Link app. You can use all the features while using a XLR mic.
But yeah as for the MV7 it sounds amazing. Alot more bass and thickness opposed to the Wave link. Definitely a good starter or mid level mic for people not ready for a XLR. Just think they should drop the price to 199 or so to compete with the Yetti and Podmics. I will definitely test out the MV7 and maybe add a couple for guest if I expand my podcast as it doesn't sound too much different then a SM7B. Shure did a great job.
So shure mv7 or the elgato wave 3?
i guess it is kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch new series online?
@Kyrie Derrick Flixportal :)
@Dayton Devin Thank you, signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!
@Kyrie Derrick no problem xD
The Wave 3 has VST support now with Wave Link which makes the quality way closer to XLR mics. I'm not sure how the MV7's software is, but Elgato just keeps releasing updates to Wave Link.
That is the advantage, the software makes the Wave 3 one of the best USB mics around.
Great video! Question from a noob. I’m gathering equipment now and If I get the wave 3 with the software that it has in it, do I need a go xlr as part of my stream setup? I currently have the shure mv7 now (will be for a console Xbox setup) 🙏🏼 thank u
Oh and can you share the name and link to that sweet tripod stand at the end for the mv7
blue compass mic arm
I just got wave 3 ,, wish me luck
subbed. nice content!
Thanks.
You never even compare? Complete waste
The actual mic sounds can be heard on the separate videos. As I said. But thanks for the feedback.
It sounds like the MV7 USB mic is better overall sound over Wave 3 and worth spending an extra hundred or so to get it. Simple plug and play ideally with an arm attached to get close to your mouth. More bass sound and better background noise suppression it seems according to your video.
MV7 sounds a lot better than the wave 3 to me, but wanted the Wave link software, so ended getting both the MV7 and Steam Deck+. The later JUST to be able to Wave Link.. Ouch!
Why do a mic comparison video and not compare the audio?
Because I didn't have both mics at the time, but did say that you can watch the unboxing videos of each mic where I did use them and go into more depth about them. You'll hear the audio there.
How do you think these would sound with voice acting types of yelling?
The MV7 would be better at handling levelling.
Maybe + for mv7.. is it convenient to have a mic as a separate input audio in obs on which filters /Nvidia noise supp can be applied.. instead of having the wave mix as an input..
I have an issue with Buyer's Remorse. Granted, I did buy Bluetooth headphones and the Wave:3.
:( having problems?
@@TheProvokedPrawn I just kinda feel like I should've gotten the MV7 from what I'm seeing. My Wave:3 works fine for now though, so I'm probably fine.
You mentioned you use the MV7 on the GoXLR Mini, which settings you use there? It's always a pain for me to find the right settings in the GoXLR software
My settings are in here ruclips.net/video/lrIvGvSVKBc/видео.html
Wave3 + Nvidia Voice + Elgato software will give you near the same functionality as a MV7 + GoXLR mini. $150 for the Wave3 vs MV7 combo for $500. The Wave3 actually sounds better vs the MV7 connected to USB for my voice (mileage may vary depending on your voice). The MV7 + GoXLR sounds better than the Wave3, but not by much. The Elgato Wave3 is a simple decision for streaming, recording , or simple multiplayer gaming. I use to hate condenser mics until I tried Nvidia voice. My GoXLR mini and dynamic mics now sit in storage. The simplicity, functionality, sound and less clutter of the Wave3 is what I prefer. My year journey of finding a mic setup that satisfies me has finally ended with the Wave3.
Interesting. Though Nvidia Voice is going to put pressure on your GPU that could otherwise be used for gaming performance imo. Plus the MV7 is far superior for blocking out background noise even in USB mode. Therefore for people who want less fuss with software it's a superior option. Though the Wave is great software wise, no doubt.
@@TheProvokedPrawn I don't know about performance hit but maybe for GTX cards? I don't see a change in gaming performance or FPS and I always have HWmonitor running on a 3rd screen while gaming. No discernable change in utilization. I'm surprised you saw a hit to gaming performance as I assume you have a decent RTX card. I am running a 3080 with Nvidia Broadcast (Nvidia voice built in). I guess it kind of depends on a persons system though. I know early editions of Nvidia voice would hold GPU resources which isn't the case currently. Software wise, Nvidia voice is simply an install. There isn't any messing around with software for Nvidia voice and Elgato software is only needed if you need the mixer functionality. Did you actually try both mics together at the same time? Did you notice the difference between the internal pop filter on the wave 3 vs the MV7 is better? I actually have both mics.
@@pohalsted8847 fair enough. I used it when it was RTX Voice. I've had no need to try broadcast as I've not had as many issue with other mics as I did with the Wave in terms of what it picked up. And no, I didn't use them both at the same time but I did test both extensively. 🧐 As you say, opinions, systems, even your room could make a difference. Glad you're enjoying it that's what matters!
@@TheProvokedPrawnTrue, my environment is different. I have a ton of room noise and 3 young kids running around. I have no choice but to use AI noise cancelling for condenser or dynamic mics. Anyway, I appreciate the responses. Have a great rest of your day!
thank your opinion. I'm noob youtube game streamer. Actually, This media and your opnion is really helpful my decision.
Question do you think it's worth upgrading to the mv7 from the wave 3 or no?
It's a much better mic imo. Better sound quality and if you ever been frustrated with background noise from the wave 3 you won't have the same issues
@@TheProvokedPrawn ah ok thank you. I will be upgrading when I get my 2nd pc in a few months for a duel pc setup. Do you recommend getting a goxlr mini too to use the mv7 via xlr?
@@GhOsTsGeNeRaL that's how to get the most out of it for sure.
@@TheProvokedPrawn ah ok thank you very much for helping me decide upgrading to the mv7 question what gain do you have on the mv7 and what settings do you find best on the goxlr mini for the mv7?
Is this Gopher?
Who
For better background noise canceling. Elgato Wave 3 is better?
Not as default, not. See here - ruclips.net/video/ke3lbmmf60I/видео.html
Очень полезно, спасибо. Единственное толковое сравнение.
MV7 or Wave 3 with Wavelink?
Going to start with the wave 3 and then move to the mv7
You'll certainly notice the difference
@@TheProvokedPrawn think mv7 might be better future proof? Wave link is the main attraction I see from the wave 3
If you buy one and then upgrade the other, it will cost a lot of extra money. The mv7 costs about the same anyway. The wave 1 is way cheaper than the wave 3 and it only misses a few features.
u need more subs.
Thanks. Hope that means you enjoyed enough to subscribe.
3 videos in four hours wtf
Actually 5, but the other 2 are for members only. It's an embargo I was trying to hit. :)
That fly loved the Elgato 2:50
am i the only one that saw a fly on the elgato wave 3 mic???
Probably not. It was summer time and there were a lot of the bastards about.
What mic arm or boom arm (I’m a mic noob) do you recommend for the shure?
I use the Blue Compass
@@TheProvokedPrawn Hi, you're voice absolutely sounds awesome. Was wondering were you able to position your wave near to your mouth when you're using the blue compass? I had saw reviews regarding the wave is too light in weight for the Blue Compass. is it true ?
Which one is now better (sound)?
Shure
Plz tell me it the wave 3 works on ps4
yeah the wave 3 works on PS4. Was recently updated to do so.
@@latimsafterhours yea I got it thanks tho
What do u use the Wave 3 for on PS4?
Great video. Keen to know, what's that 3 legged desktop stand used at 7:56 ?
I'm afraid I stole it from another mic I was testing and I can't recall which.
Which one do you recommend/I should get the Elgato wave 3 or the at2020?
wave 3
which one is a better bang for your buck the hyperx quadcast, the elgato wave 3, or the shure mv7?
Value for money + features = Wave 3. Best recording quality = Shure for sure
@@TheProvokedPrawn Are you SHURE? ahahah sorry
@@JamesBond-vi2eh I'm really not shure😂
shure mv7
i use it and it is fantastic even usb.
my students noticed the difference.
Plus, with sm7, you don't have to turn your room into a mental health room. upholstered in paralon.
